Excellent! You built two leg vices and a Moxon vice for next to nothing. Ordinarily I'm sceptical of many home built interpretations of traditional designs, but you have clearly got it right. Well done.

for more grip glue a piece of sandpaper inside of each clamp, this will stop any slippage when chiseling, nice plan!!

a piece of leather or an old latex cutting mat will also have the same effect for grip but without risking putting scratches in the timber. of course it depends on the type of work we are doing as to whether it matters or not, fine finish work such as cabinet making for instance then we don't want to be using sandpaper for grip. leather also lasts much longer for vice grips.

Thank you! Part of the idea in these hobbies is to share in order to spark ideas. Your idea did that well. There are more purists and less, like in any hobby ( think about playing vinyl) but you get get ny with a range of solution... like Sharpening your chisel with sand aper, God have mercy on my soul... Maybe add a thin layer of cork to the inside of your vice. If you work with an expensive piece of wood, the cork has a lower risk of denting the surface of the workpiece.

4:25 There's a faster way to do this with a coupling nut. Cut or grind down one of the rounded ends, then drill out and countersink. This will give you a hex chiseling tool to pull into the hole from the other side with a bolt. Fits perfectly with no gaps to fill.

Не хочу показаться грубым, автор молодец проделал большую работу, но все перечисленное можно зажать через брусок прикрученый к столу обычными струбцинами, а вот клампы это было бы интересно, может у вас есть какие-то идеи, как их сделать своими руками?) 😊

I like what you did. But not the unsafe practices you used...... I have seen arm gouges from saw blades simply because it seemed safe to cross blade cut while using your drop saw. Perhaps a couple of safety first courses might not go astray. Your viewers may not be mislead and suffer because of it..... And yes I taught OHS. Your practices would have got you an invite to leave the workshop..... But again what you made is good.

Тиски из фанеры…, это не надолго. Я бы не стал возиться их делать, а второй вариант я сделал лет десять назад, из металла. Фанера столько, уверен, не прослужит.

@@ВольдемарА я, уважаемый, не огорчаюсь. Такой деревянный верстак не только видел, но даже работал на нем. У моего отца, столяра, был такой, ну и скрипел же он когда что нибудь зажимал. Так вот, я тоже столяр как и отец, мне 73 года, имею столярную мастерскую и работаю, а куда делся тот ретро-верстак не знаю. В этом видео мужик забавляется от нечего делать, в продаже , если очень надо тисков море только выбирай.

@@OlegMiller-r4k А мне 65. И я собираюсь сделать подобные тиски. Потому и смотрю такие ролики, перенимаю опыт. Сделал стол незатейливый для столярки, и тиски не помешают. Не столяр, просто строю дачку своими руками. А насчёт надёжности деревяшек с вами не согласен. Ручки у молотков, топоров и кувалд служат годами при тяжелейшей нагрузке. Так же на лопатах, кирках и тд. А столярные тиски, это не слесарные. Им сильный зажим не требуется.Ещё -ваше рассуждение, что "тисков много в продаже и их можно купить" ??? А что вы делаете в своей столярной мастерской , чего нет в продаже и чего нельзя купить ??? Тоже можно просто купить.

I have to be honest, but not I'm not impressed with your tool skills. Your ideas are OK - even though there are better solutions to your problems out there. You are ruining your chisels by using them for other things than chiseling. The same goes with the planer, which you stand on its knife. That will destroy the knife prematurely. Put it on its side or the front on a small piece of wood, so the knife does not touch the table, if it is below the sole of the planer. Your drills are obviously not very sharp anymore. You should not run the hole saw hot. It will remove the quenching of the metal and make it brittle, which will result in it being ruined quickly. Take a little at a time, so it does not run hot. And you have no quality or fitness with the things you make. You could actually center the end nob and the two rings with a drill, when you glue them together. Then they will be perfectly centered. Clearly you are used to using electric tools and have not gained the most basic wooden craftsman skills with handtools. Lean to use handtools properly before going on to electric tools. Including properly sharpening them. You will have much more enjoyment, if you have those skills. And your projects will look that much better and actually last longer when put together properly with the right kind of wood. For instance use hardwood for the vices and knobs - like oak, beechwood or walnut. You will be able to have them for many years then.

When I first read your comment I said to myself “sounds like me”. Every time I criticize someone for doing dangerous work or practicing habits that ruin their tools, I get nothing but hate from other people telling me I should work in a prison or I should shut up etc. people don’t want to learn how to use hand tools first. They don’t want to practice excellence and they just want to do things the quickest way. I commend you for voicing your opinion and speaking the truth. People can be such smart a$$es these days.
