I am 74 years of age . I 've owned many many guitars in my life time . I purchased one a few years ago . The scale is 24 inch . It does all styles of music . The ebony fret board is silky smooth especially after some use . Finger style on it is so comfortable . When i purchased it ,the store also had an Eastman Gibson Les Paul style one . Same colour and finish as this one . Well My ! My 1 My ! I now have both . Gibsons are nice but ; I prefer these and they are more affordable too.

True story: I auditioned roughly a dozen 335s and several 339s at my local Guitar Centers. Long story short, bought an Eastman T59/v for roughly half the price and I have to say that it is better in every way - except for the name on the headstock. Seriously, if you're interested in a 335-style guitar and you aren't wedded to the name on the headstock, you should try out the Eastman.

The tone of these guitars is perfect and this is coming from a guy with a really good Gibson 335. The problem with the Gibsons were that I had try out a few of them till I got a great one… the Eastman guitars always deliver

Let's not beat around the bush here Rich it's more akin to a 345/355 than a 335... it's a Chinese craftsman-built guitar that equals or exceeds most of what is built in the US - especially Gibson Custom-Shop - at half the price. Really stunning guitars.

Eastman are excellent guitars with their own sound, dryer, more acoustic and bright. By any means they are as good as Gibsons in quality, maybe even better. But they definitely do not sound like a Gibson. We can clearly hear it in this video. The sounds is more suddued, and subtle. It has a more delicate sound than a Gibson. I have an Gibson ES330 and a Eastman T64, and while the same build, are totally different sounding. The T64 has a really big acoustic for a thinline.

Very nice guitar. I have 2 quibbles, though. The tuners are angled rather than positioned parallel to each other and I find that awkward when having to squeeze my fingers to grab the buttons. Eastman doesn't do this on their LP-style SB59 series. Aesthetically, I would also prefer that there was no first fret inlay and that the inlays were extended in the upper frets.

I sold it in a momemt of madness, got more money for it than I paid for it new and regretted it ever since. I was gonna buy one of these Eastmans as the Gibson's are just too expensive., beautiful and very well reviewed, handmade I hear. I love ebony fretboards, so playable. I actually went for a Sire Larry Carlton H7. Very playable guitar and an ebony fretboard, Definitely the best value of them all, £499 for a guitar easily worth three times that. Should anything happen to it iit is easily replaceable. I hear that Larry Carlton is actually using them himself on stage.

It really is a beautiful guitar. I love Eastman, their quality is exceptional. My only slight gripe with this model is why, especially when they have " antiqued everything else so well, haven't they made the binding an off white / cream colour ? That would have looked so much better, in my opinion. Great video again Rich. Thank you. 🙏

Uninspiring and not worth what I paid for it. Come to think of it, perhaps I'll sell the Classic and that'll get me 3/4 of the way to a T59/v AND an Eastman SB56.

I agree about the quality. Especially in semi hollow or ES style guitars. The build out is perfect and attention to detail is superb. If the pickups are what you want, they will match up with anything G****n makes. The only negative I can come up with is resale of used guitars. Gibby is thru the roof even on their less premium models. I think Guild and Heritage are far better values these days, especially for good used. If I you look for used Eastmans you can find great value. If you just want something inexpensive and are will to work with it to upgrade it a little, I have found some of the Loar models to be just perfect for that purpose
@rodolphep0nthus5552 жыл бұрын
Exactly. Great comment. The resale value on Eastmans is really bad. Very upsetting for the ow'er, but absolute great bargains to be had. You can buy used an AR503, solid carved archtop, for 1200€. A crazy deal for such a good instrument

I really liked the finish of this guitar, playability and sound. However i also tested a Gibson es335. I think the wood especially the mahaghony neck makes a big difference in sound. Also the gibson had much more acoustic tone wich was nicely hearable true the burstbucker pickups. These pickups are low output humbuckers but wil give you dynamics and that vintage sound. price was not that different so i bought the gibson wich i think is unbeatable.

I own 2 T59’s- 1) is exactly like yours with their violin finish, as in T59v- v for violin, is what I was told. They started out as violin makers. BUT I’ve been wanting a Gibson 335 forever too. Instead, I bought the classic 335 red Eastman T59 with a Bigsby. I love it! I need to confess, I own their gold top LP with P-90’s. Incredible guitar. Better than Gibson IMO. I own their 10oo acoustic. Perfect for studio recording with mics and I bought 2 of their least expensive single cutaway acoustic guitars in the $500.00 range. Just bought one as backup for my shows, I do play a Gibson Songwriters Deluxe mostly at this time live. The other one I played it live until it broke and was too much to repair. Finally, I month ago I bought one right down your alley because it was too beautiful not to own. The T49d/v. The V again for their classic violin finish. A jazz guitar. Absolutely gorgeous guitar. So that’s 🤔 Dang! I just realized I own 7 Eastmans! 😳 I guess I’m a fan. I just liked and subscribed to your channel. Thx for promoting these amazing guitars and you channel is great! Oh, I’m a full time musician. I’m definitely not great but I sing ok and play 3 to 5 shows a week. The sound of electric guitars with two large pickups mounted on top is largely dependent on the electronics. I'm interested in the playability & for the difference in cost I want to know if I am getting hand carved wood or glue & sawdust; the latter item rarely gets mentioned in these reviews.

I am not a friend of these copy cat guitars. Grabbing the design of someone else (regardless of what product or service it is), bluntly copying it, looking for a place where you can produce at low(est) cost and low(est) standards. But that is not enough, the journey continues through feeding youtube channels and other social media where these copies are placed. And people applaud and start with their Gibson bashing. This is uninspiring. One should sit down for a while and think about who it was who gave us all these great guitars (in this case the ES 335) and respect their achievements (and this doesn’t mean that they have done everything right in the past) by not just copying. If Eastman is the there for doing good to the guitar market, where is their inventions and new innovative products like a Paul Reed Smith, Taylor, Breedlove and others have come up with. Uninspiring- not for me.

Too bad for you. If there were only Gibsons and Fenders out there, not many of us would be able to buy guitars.. Your comment is not very open minded..
@Michael-bm8hi2 жыл бұрын
@@rodolphep0nthus555 That is simply not true and you are contradicting yourself. Both Gibson and Fender have affordable product lines and these are (very) good guitars. But the guitarworld clearly shouldn‘t be only Gibson or Fender. There is a place for companies like Eastman, but they should do their own thing and establish their iconic designs.
@CubbyVerse2 жыл бұрын
@@Michael-bm8hi there's only so much variety one can get when making a guitar within their archetypes ( solid, semi, etc.). Nearly every guitar manufacturer, even the big ones, make guitars 99% or more identical to this one. It hardly belongs to Gibson as much as the solid body guitar belongs to Leo Fender anymore. Besides, someone so concerned about style only doesn't strike me as much of a player anyways.
@rodolphep0nthus5552 жыл бұрын
@@Michael-bm8hi they do their own thing on classic build designs . Every body does this. And the quality is just outstanding for the price, and not only. You say they are built to low standards. THIS is simply not true. They are hand built, and the fit and finish are impeccable. Your arguments just aren't true. I own a Gibson ES330 and Eastman T64. They look the same, but sound completely different, because Eastman is built lighter, the woods are better suited for acoustic enhancement, the pickups are Lollar P90, electronics CTS and Switch craft, a genuine Bigsby.. Just a high end instrument, not a low cost copy. And low cost Fenders or Gibson don't even come close to Eastmans. Stop bashing Eastman just because they come from China. China were building stringed instruments centuries before US or Europe. Think about it
@Michael-bm8hi2 жыл бұрын
@@rodolphep0nthus555 You are actually confirming my point. Copy build in China with cheap labour and the secret sauce like the Lollars and so on not coming from China is still needed for making the concept work. The rest is all done by an (again) up to Western standards marketing engine. Maybe you will have fun today but in the long run this is will fire back. We have seen it in other industries already.
