Not only is "Proud Mary" a CCR original it was also written by CCR. It was first released by CCR and reached No. 2 in 1969 on the Billboard Top 100. Tina Turner version was released 1971 and hit No.4 on Billboard Top 100. And now the song is constantly heard today's Got Talent, The Voice, X-Factor and all other talent shows world wide. It has to be considered one of the most popular songs of all time.

This song was covered twice in 1969 by Solomon Burke as well as the Checkmates, then in 1970 by Ike & Tina Turner, the original band who recorded it back in 1968 is John Fogerty and his band, Creedence Clearwater Revival, the golden icons of swamp rock. There's still plenty more where that come from, like "Commotion", "Susie Q", "Run Through The Jungle", "Travelin' Band", "Sweet Hitch- Hiker", "Long As I Can See The Light", "Who'll Stop The Rain", "Hey Tonight" "Someday Never Comes" and "Lodi". CCR was from El Cerido, California. John Fogerty wrote this song in about an hour after he got his discharge from the Army Reserve. This IS a Creedance Clearwater Revival song, the others , like Ike and Tina Turner just covered it. But, they Do NOT, give it the Southern Feeling and the whole music ( guitars and drums) are played to give the feeling of a Steamboat going down the Mississippi River. Next do "Commotion" it is the B side to "Bad Moon Rising". All Creedance 45s were released as Double Sided Hits. The Only Group to Release more were The Beatles.
