I would put the odds on renathal staying, but I think for blizzard to innovate with the game, they need to rotate this out so that they can try new deckbuilding legendaries in the coming sets. I feel keeping it will stagnate the game in Standard

it would be nice if we got some cool adventure in the next expansion, like it was in the times of Uldum. some adventures, done well, can really bring a lot of joy. I think I got nostalgic about the kobolds, where everyone was doing a challenge to complete it the fastest, and the dungeon itself was very cool. Everyone was infected and it was cool because it really stimulated the community where we were all united in our results.

Can we ask the question, why does Mage even have secrets that counter spells and minions? It makes more sense for Hunter to have them because they play aggro or tempo but Mage is classically played with dragons and strong spells why do they need disruption when they have a good control archetype?

Renathal was my favorite card that came out in the last two years, but one of the cards I'm definitely going to miss in standard is Accused Sylvanas. Since release I played her in almost every deck I made.

I'm glad renathal is leaving it always was annoying how you'd be at disadvantage just because of that card. The worst part was that you're forced to play that match for a long time unless you have a hyper aggro deck. Definitely not fun, specially for those who don't want to waste their time in one single match.

i really hope dredge goes core, just like tradeable last rotation. it's just nice information, getting to know what's at the bottom so you know you don't need to wait to draw it and can develope a newer tactic faster . and ofc. our boi Renathal should stay and get some more activation-voicelines, just to spice it up

The problem with objection is minions that destroy secrets don't destroy it but it does destroy Kidnap? That interaction pizzed me off. Pray Renathal stays. Remornia is my fav card ever, best I made was 24/36. I love removing cards from enemy hand like the murloc that ate it. The enchanter that eats a spell every turn for warrior has been in all my decks. Lorethemar doubling my deck was one of my fav mechanics ever

I think I share a lot of the same feelings with you. Sure there's a couple of rotating cards I can't wait to never see again, but the vast majority of cards rotating feel so core to classes at this point that it feels like we're losing a lot of identity to a lot classes :/

I’m glad to see thaddius rotating. The sludge deck isn’t crazy powerful but it’s awful to play against. That said a lot of my favorite decks are losing cards that have been helpful, hopefully some of them (especially nerubian vizier) get put in the core set.

After so much time I'm very surprised Blizz didn't give Colossal minions the same treatment Titans got. I really think they shouldn't be in the pool of discover cards (except the ones that specifically mention 'discover a colossal minion').

They kind of did. Colossals can't be randomly summoned and some effects can't randomly discover them (Such as the upcoming neutral Highlander Legendary in the mini-set) Besides that, there are very few ways of actually discovering them. There's like... Primus/Frost Strike in DK that can discover Sindragosa, Countess and Aman'thul (Peaceful Piper too but lets be real, no-one's picking Colaque...) The most prominent annoyance from Colossals comes from cards that discover copies from the deck like Selective Breeder and Creation Protocol which bypass any discover restrictions because they're not being randomly generated.

@@lastbestplace8112 Actually, a lot of its purpose was to get the extra health. Which was wanted to help slow down aggro decks from murdering your face. It's only since its nerf down to +5 health that it's had more focus on just the deck size increase.

I'm more than happy to see Astalor go. I didn't like the card pre or post nerf. I don't think neutral cards that are that powerful should be so ubiquitous. I verbally groan every single time I see it played, and even when I use it. I still stand that the change it should have been on the nerf was to turn it to 16 damage to minions and make it a good board removal. A card that can just slot into any type of deck, in any class, as removal, healing, and a finisher, is just ridiculous. Not to mention the wild issues such a battlecry has. I will be happy to see that card gone from standard.

I uninstalled hearthstone and have been taking a break from it because I've hated the approach to design in recent times. I am interested in the rotation though, because so much of what I hate is leaving with the rotation, at least unless it gets put into the core set. I may be in the minority but one of cards im happiest to see leave is Astalor. It's not anywhere near as toxic as Thaddius and all sorts of other tilting mana cheating cards, but I just can't stand seeing the card anymore. It just goes into everything and I am ready for it to go. Having neutrals that are power cards and not deck altering like Renathal be in such a large volume of decks makes games feel so stale. Depending on the next expansions cards, Im interested in where the meta will go. Festival and Badlands are interesting sets, and even though Titans is a powerful set, it may be an opportunity for a unique meta, one that isn't dominated by scam and mana cheating.

Kinda the same as he is now no? Dredge is the only thing that gave you information of the bottom of your deck. At least we still have that new grave digger card for that effect.

@@mak. There would be a difference, you'd be drawing your current hand as your next few draws instead of your hand sitting on the bottom of your deck. As for whether it'd see play? Probably. It's kind of like a Secret Passage, letting you go deeper into your deck to look for an out. Just it's slower to get your original hand back. Interestingly, it'd combo well with Quickdraw, as you could use this Finley to slap your Quickdraw cards onto the top of your deck to draw in the following turns to get their extra effect.

So I am really sad and happy about steamcleaner leaving. Very mixed feelings. I loved playing deathknight plague decks. But steamcleaner always felt like such a cheap answer. But for the mini set I wanted to start playing highlander warrior. But I am afraid without steamcleaner I am going to get bullied left right and center by some plague dk decks. Definitely sad but also double happy I guess.

Unpopular opinion, Renathal can go to Wild, quickly. I don't like Standard being "this" or "that" decks. Rena and non-Rena. That's exactly why Baku and Genn were snipped from Standard a year early. Normal decks were good but it was annoying having to plan for the deck, AND the Even/Odd version of the deck.

It's yearly unless they announced a change I've not seen. Oldest 3 sets go, leaving the 3 most recent. Core cards get adjusted.

Next one is next year. Standard spans 2 years and every year the oldest 3 sets rotate out to make way for the newest year's cards. Also no, you don't get full dust value from cards that rotate.

There was this rule in a Twist once. The meta was horrible, bc of all classes who used more than 30 cards was very aggro classes with big draw cards, like murloc paladin. It wasn't control meta, it was just a help to aggro classes to have more aggressive cards. Hated that season.
