I bought some "heavy duty racks" from G-Rack and I'm staggered at their quality. You may have searched for a tutorial on how to construct them ahead of buying any and so hopefully, this video has appeard in your search results.

You are right about these being garbage. Mine failed suddenly after 6 months of use and cause damaged and loss of my personal belongs. I have one of the taller models and the top section just completely slide off and everything flew off the shelves - including a computer which I have yet to test whether it is still working or not. Looking back, I thought it was odd that the vertical supports are actually formed by connecting two shorter pieces with a connector but not made of one single piece, and this is exactly what happened - the connector piece failed so spectacularly that the entire top section popped off. Doesn't take an engineer to understand that this is a fatal weak point.

I think most will be glad that it *has* a cross piece. There appear to be two designs of metal racks commonly found, the G-Rack ones with a support, and the rest branded under various names such as EAZILIFE that seemingly have none. It's a bit rough and ready, but bear in mind that it's expected to be at home in locations such as a workshop, not on display in a drawing room alongside a Steinway and Chippendale chairs.

Hi Jason, thanks for sharing your feedback - we take every review seriously, although in this instance we would like to mention that the units that you have purchased are guaranteed to hold their stated weight of 265kg per tier (1325kg across the full unit). We use a boltless design for a quick and easy build, which is something that our customers appreciate in their shelving. Although we don't agree with your assessment, we of course respect the fact that you have taken the time to give feedback. We hope that as the units do their job they will change your opinion on the quality of the product you have bought.

G-rack joined KZbin in Mar 2017, no content uploaded, no subscribers or subscriptions and only one video comment. This one. I'm not really sure what to make of that. 1.3 tons per unit? Not a chance, unless to which point that wight is applied to it, its wobbling and beginning to buckle under the weight so much so that an extra gram will send it crashing to the floor. I had one of these units loaded with around 300KG of disinfectant and it didn't look happy.

That's interesting, my unit was not holding more than 25kg per shelve and still, the connector piece for the lower and upper section just failed so spectacularly and suddenly that the whole upper section slide off and all my belongs flew off the shelves. Actually you are lucky that I wasn't in the room at the time this happened because I would definitely be suing for personal injury. You have a 1.8m tall vertical support which is actually not a singular piece, but is actually made from two shorter pieces linked by a connector. Do you really need an engineer to tell you that this is a bad idea?

This type of rack is available in my country. The box says it's only up to 70kg per tier, and I think it's perfect for that capacity. 1325kg across the full unit is ridiculous - that's as heavy as a car.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with that shelving. The bars are meant to be bent round and the clips are thin so you can bend them round that way. Sensationalist reviews like this can really damage the reputation of a small business, maybe something to consider before describing something as "liquid garbage." Poor form.

"The bars are meant to be bent around like that" Precicly what I don't like about the design and precisely what I didn't expect to be doing when buying a "quality" product. "There's nothing wrong with that shelving" Except for the fact that (in my experience) it can't take even half of the rated weight? Except for the fact that the assembly process involves bending bits of metal around other bits of metal? 😖 "Sensationalist reviews like this can really damage the reputation of small businesses" Small business damage the reputation of small business by giving the customer something to review. It's an honest review, I stand by it and I didn't even include how dissatisfied I felt towards G-racks attitude towards some missing parts. Despite being spitting distance away from their warehouse, it took them 2 weeks to get the missing parts to me.

“Reviews like this can really damage the reputation of a small business” … so only positive comments should ever be shared with the company and their intended market? Your note of caution suggests that is indeed your mindset. I appreciate anyone taking the time to make a review of a product they’ve bought. I use such reviews, along with other input, to inform purchasing decisions. What you appear to prefer is to have a skewed landscape of only positive reviews - hardly in the interests of consumers? That, is poor form.
