These are the most moving photographs I have ever seen. We could all do with seeing them, to remind us of what we have got, how to live well now, and how to treat each other. At this moment in history, more than ever, we need to learn the valuable lessons that these images are holding out to us!

Makes me feel so sad, I could lay on the floor and weep for the people and all. How arrogantly stupid we are these days, mostly no idea of possibilities beyond our locked windows & doors. That covid lock down charade has done a terrible thing & now there's upset & conflict no matter who gets elected, homeless pets & kids without good neighborhoods to run & play in. Sigh. The third photo (0:39) is NOT SYPHILIS. The photo is from the Burns Archive's Disease and Pathology collection. This woman had Lupus with Corneal Leukoma. The photo was taken by Alexandre Lacassagne, MD., circa 1895. It is included in the archive's 4-volume publication, "Photographic History of Dermatology". How many other "facts" were misinformation?

Also, there was an effective treatment for syphilis (arsphenamine) as early as 1910, long before penicillin first became available in the 1940s and quickly became the therapy of choice.

My grandmother born in 1913, lived through the Depression…she talked about how people (in the 1990’s), were becoming so ungrateful, greedy & selfish. She said by the time I got old, if nothing happened, it would be a hard life again, except in the other direction. Greed & the love of money. Looks like she’s been right, it’s just happening faster.

It's actually quite a mild image of syphilis, there are hundreds of photos around showing far worse. Mayhew took lots where people's noses had rotted away. And that's a disgusting comment above about why it's affected her eye. Syphilis affects soft tissue and being Edwardian, all that's on show is her face, poor woman. It was usually men using prostitutes giving it to their unwitting and innocent wives that was such a problem. And for their children. Syphilis was a great cause of blindness in children. Can you imagine what that poor woman endured, unable to do anything to hide the very public announcement that she was suffering advanced syphilis.

More than likely a “gift” from a philandering husband. It is beyond me how Lady Randolph Churchill (Winston Churchill’s mother) didn’t contract syphilis as Sir Randolph Churchill, Winston Churchill’s father, died as a result of syphilis, other than she was smart and stopped sleeping with him. Most women/wives were unsuspecting and therefore innocent victims to their husband’s vices.

Longterm coal mining was a painful death. Life two to three hundred years ago was so brutal. In Europe venereal disease was rampant. The innocents that contracted syphilis suffered whatever lifetime they had. Mercury was the primary trratment for the lesions. So much to be thankful for today. Much love and joy to you all. ❤

Syphilis was treatable with sulfa drugs long before penicillin became available. Tuberculosis was also treated with sulfa drugs. Doctors are returning to sulfa drugs to treat antibiotic resistant tuberculosis. It turns out that tuberculosis never gained any resistance to sulfa drugs and there are thousands of combinations that remain undiscovered.

There is a mistake with one of the pictures labeled the Biggest Sea Bass ever caught. The largest Sea Bass ever caught was by a sport fisherman was a giant sea bass (Stereolepis gigas) caught by James McAdam Jr. on August 20, 1968 off Anacapa Island, California. It weighed 563 pounds and 8 ounces (255.6 kg) and was 7.4 feet long (2.26 meters).

Imagine the millions of unborn children murdered in the womb or left to die after botched abortions.
@LuciThomasHardylover-qx6ts
@LuciThomasHardylover-qx6ts 3 ай бұрын
We don't need to imagine the many more millions that were murdered after being born because they weren't wanted or couldn't be fed. Or the many millions who starved to death and still continue to. Or the millions that were orphaned, abandoned or put in work houses or left in the street. Or the little children who worked as prostitutes and still do. The disabled children who are either murdered or abandoned by rejecting parents who cannot care for them,or who are maimed deliberately and sent out to beg. Which still happens. What a stupid comment. Abortion was so deathly dangerous in those days it was only a step from suicide and therefore rarely practiced. Babies were killed after being born, whether deliberately or through'neglect'. How about being concerned about the plight of the living and suffering children of now, their desperate mothers and the miserable lives of so many children.
