This is one of the most beautiful display of aquariums with house plants EVER 🤩 I had no idea this many types could live growing this way.

I've had a taro plant collected from a local creek in an outside 2ft tank running on solar air pumps and it goes absolutely nuts. Grows fast, sends out tonnes of roots, barely need a water change with about 8 danios. Even survived through winter, now its spring its going even harder. One of the best plants for a deep substrate tank.

epiphyte not succulent would not recommend arid desert plants. Also not a rubber tree/fig certain palms and ficus are toxic to fish. Essentially all bare root hydroponic growth is possible with enough dissolved oxygen, stable PH and light source capable of supplying enough light for photosynthesis
@fuzzynippleman2 ай бұрын
^ SPOT. ON. If you are running an air pump, most anything can be grown with exposed roots. They just need a lot of air and some water flow and the roots will be fine.
@ErikAndrew-q2pАй бұрын
So ficus and palms are toxic, but I guess the Araceae family (aroids) is not? It’s used so often, it must be ok… even though it is considered toxic as well. But I’ve never had issues with aroids. Never tried any ficus or palms though. Don’t know how or what kind would even work in a situation like this. They’re too big 😂 Aroids seem foolproof though. In addition to the many philodendrons, syngoniums, anthuriums, pothos, epipremnums, spathiphyllums, alocasias, etc., there are of course the cryptocoryne, anubias, bucephalandra, lagenandra, and even duckweed! I never knew that until I read about it. Duckweed must be the smallest aroid in the world.

I have pothos and peace lilies in my tank. I put the roots in small plastic cages to hold them in the tank which turned out to be a benefit. My red eye tetras eat the roots that grow outside the cages.

for plants hanging onto the tank, wires can be put through tubing. still bendable and keeps water out. Also, unbleached cotton macrame rope hanging plant baskets for over tanks- the ends could fall into the tank creating space for fish laying eggs as well as a place for growing mosses both above and below the water.
@slymercenary6500Ай бұрын
They said that you can trim the roots back to give the fish extra swim room - does this affect how the plant grows? and how much can you trim the roots system

I have a monstera, pothos, a couple anthuriums & crotons in mine. I like the strappy-leafed croton varieties like gold dust & zanzibar so they don't block a lot of light like a typical croton & it provides a gorgeous splash of color out of the water.

One of the best filter plants is red mangrove (Rhizophora mangle). You can easily collect / buy the fertile seed pods, put them in the aquarium (grow tip above water) and let them grow. The amazing stealth roots they develop under water make for an extra, beautiful feature. Please learn to use scientific names, so everyone around the world knows what to search for.

I don’t think you have enough knowledge to create informal videos. Many of your videos are inconsistent and often lack essential information, with you frequently saying, 'I don’t know.' It’s not just about sharing your experiences; it feels like you’re trying to produce informal content without the necessary background.
