@The Curious Cat : How do "ANT EYE INFLAMITARI PROPERTIES" hurt my cats? As far as I know, they don't eat ants, so shouldn"t get those properties. I give them a range of canned foods, but sometimes they only eat a small amount & won't eat the rest, which the cat from 6 doors down eats for breakfast the next morning. I also buy at least 5 different types of biscuits, mixing them together in equal amounts, preferred by my boy, but his mum likes to eat a mouthfull of meat, then a few biscuits, followed by more meat then biscuits, etc. My boy likes to sleep beside me on the bedwhile his mum likes the washing basket when full or to hide under a bench where stuff is stored as well as in front. When I lock up at night, mum is usually outside while I have to call her son, usually taking a few minutes to come from down the street. Mum is called Ty-Ni & her son is called Hari-Mau (Indonesian for Tyger).

Raw is very good for them, if it's frozen for 3 days first. I give my cat raw fresh, then I freeze it. She's never had any issues and is a senior now. I also give plain yogurt, lactose free is preferred. Her teeth and gums are in good condition thanks to the yogurt and food for her teeth. Just a teaspoon a day. As for potato and pumpkin this gives my cat and other cats the runs. Cats can't digest vegetable easily. Eggs are good. Offal is good as it's rich in nutrients. I give fresh lambs kidneys on occasions.

I have my cat on a completely raw commercial diet bought frozen. However, there seems to be an urban myth floating around that somehow frozen meat is better for them, and that is because people think that freezing destroys bacteria. Nothing can be further from the truth. Freezing inhibits bacterial growth but does not kill bacteria. Most bacteria and viruses survive freezing. If the meat is flash frozen quickly and bacteria is limited in forming then the cat's immune system can deal with it and shed the microbes. This can all be researched. As a side point, it is common to find live, hibernating, frozen bacteria, thousands of years old in glaciers, so they definitely survive freezing.

Raw is great if done correctly, but even then, it can backfire. I had a rescued, blind cat with idiopathic epilepsy who was with us for several years, and raw helped him restore his gut biome, and worked for a long time as support to regular diet. But in hindsight I think we must have gotten some infected beef and everything went south in a matter of about 3 months even with an excellent vet and all the right support including fortiflora (fecal transplant). I think his immune system was too compromised after years of neglect, and he never could recover, whereas a healthier cat could have survived and the bug evacuated. BTW cbd worked great for his seizures and we were able to decrease his medication over the years by 75%.

That's true, I had to get a sanitation license once and freezing does not kill bacteria. Heat only destroys some. Fact is, our food has alot more time to grow bacteria than what they can handle and nowadays it is worse because they try and stretch meat beyond its expiration with chemicals and meat glues. They can't handle what we can. And there's not alot they can do yo help cats recover if they should get sick. Best to buy frozen meats meant for them online.

What does your cats litter tray look like over the proceedings days after he eats these foods? Maybe thats your answer as to whether they good for him/her. When they kittens they can eat a little dairy but they grow out of that swiftly and don’t have correct enzymes to process plus lactose creates nasty bacteria which irritates their digestive system.

Spinach is absolutely contraindicated for both humans and cats. It contains a huge amount of oxalates which will contribute to urinary problems, particularly in male cats.

You forgot to include the superfood chia seeds for cats. I add them to his raw food after I soak them in warm water for 20 minutes, then refrigerate for a couple of hours. The soaking is important as it breaks down the outer husk so that the nutrients inside are digestible. They contain omega-3 fatty acids, minerals, vitamins and amino acids plus good prebiotic fiber all of which are great for cats.

Raw lean beef is perfectly fine .... It is raw chicken, pork, and lamb you should avoid. Most fishes are fine but remember that SEAfood such as prawns are higher in salt so these should be a treat food only. Tinned pumpkin is fine as long as you look at the ingredients and buy those with no additives ..... You should only need to feed this if your cat has Kitty Crohns or IB as the fibre is fantastic for upset tummies.

My male furlove BooBoo absolutely loves canned broccoli and cheese soup. Eats it right out of the can! Every time I have people food on my plate he wants to try it. He will sniff it first or maybe lick it. If he doesn't like that he will leave it. I think your cats will let you know. And yes, they are carnivores. They eat raw meat. You are right. Too much salt can cause acute health problems in cats. I researched and found machaca (Carne seca) has close to 1 gram salt per 100 grams. 100 grams is a bit less then 1/4 pound. Salt ingestion of 1 gram/ 2 pound weight starts to be a problem. My cat is a 16 pound Maine Coon so ingesting 8 grams of salt would be a concern. That would be over 1 1/2 pounds of carne seca. I feed him a few match stick pieces at a time. I buy about 1/3 pound ($11.50/lb)and it lasts for a couple of weeks. He will eat more of it than I do. He loves it more than Temptations treats. I haven’t told my Mexican butcher that I buy it primarily for by buddy.

Ingesting 1 gram salt per 2 lbs weight can cause issues in cats. My Maine Coon is 16 lbs so he would have to eat 8 grams of salt to get to the toxic level. That would be over 1 1/2 lbs of carne seca. I feed him a few match stick pieces. I buy ($11.50/lb) about 1/3 lb and it lasts a couple of weeks. He eats more of it than me. I haven’t told my Mexican butcher I buy it for my buddy.

From what I understand, as obligate carnivores cats can't utilize nutrients from plant matter. Maybe the dietary fiber you mentioned in at least the pumpkin would be good, akin to chewing grass to help digestion. When I had two ferrets and learned what it means to be an obligate carnivore, I discovered cats are, too. Dogs aren't, so they can actually use nutrients from some plant products as well as flesh products.

How can you say tinned cat food and prepared raw meat for cats is not good. Has to go through many tests before allowed to market and I don't see my cats or dogs running in to get raw fruit or vegetables 😂 raw meat and chicken is sold readily available for all animals and us so what now. I think my pets will suffer more from eating wildlife which would contain more parasites and diseases than anything you buy from a supermarket etc which has to go through stringent tests

I didn't say that cats will love these foods, I said that they are not only safe but will also improve their health with their nutrients (always in moderation, of course). Obviously, raw meat is better than wild animals because of parasites and so on... But don't you agree with me that cooking the meat eliminates a large part of the bacteria and parasites? This is a matter of probability, it is more likely that you will safeguard your pet's health by cooking their meat, but that does not mean that they will certainly get sick from raw meat, you will just have more chances of them getting sick by giving it to them raw and cooked. I hope I made myself understood. 💜

What it’s harmful to us, it is not harmful to them. The less you manipulate or process the food, the better. Also, garlic in low doses is extremely good for cats and dogs. Check the crappy purina brand and you’ll find in the ingredients list garlic oil🤷‍♀️🤦‍♀️😂
