My feral rescue does not like boxes or bags. She won't let me pick her up and only occasionally sits on my lap. She only eats chicken livers (cooked) and grain - free dry food. She's 17 yrs old and I've never tried to force anything on her. She's a talkative alpha Tabby and I'm grateful for her love.

I have a feral girl cat for 15 months now and i have never touched her, she won’t let me touch or pet her. But she often sleeps on my bed and now she will eat from my hand for a treat. She loves my other cat but i want to hold ans pet her and don’t know if it will ever happen.

Finally someone else who has a cat that doesn't like boxes! I thought I had the only cat in the world who didn't like boxes. We got her as a 1 yr old rescue cat. She is affectionate, likes pets & scratches & likes to be near us, but doesn't like to be picked up or held. We love her just the way she is. She still has her own unique funny & sweet ways.

You should think of yourself as someone giving her a home where she feels safe, she’s lucky enough to have found a home where her own respects that she doesn’t like to be touched. One day she may warm up to you and I hope she does, but always respect her boundaries as the same with every cat. Lots of people don’t know how to respect cats boundaries including my own family, they call my cat rude because she gets overstimulated while they are petting her. It’s all about learning your cats cues.

My cat loved to dive into paper grocery bags. I unpacked the groceries and tossed the bags on the floor. Every bag had to be investigated.

I recommend folding down the tops of the paper bags for your kitties to play with. It makes it easier for the kitty to get into the bags and it makes the bags stay open while lying on the ground. 🐈🐈‍⬛

When I was 11 to almost 23 years old. My mother had these two box coffee tables in the living room. My 2nd cat just laid in one of them to relax. Even in an empty laundry basket. He was a big cat and for him it was hard sometimes to fit in a cardboard box.

My cat was an inside/outside cat, and she had kittens. She tried to keep them near her in one room of the house, but they kept getting away and she would have to find them and bring them back. I got a large box with high sides and collected all the kittens and put them in there. Mama cat understood the idea immediately, and when I was finished loading the kittens into the box, she gave me a look that I can only interpret as gratitude. It was a few more weeks before the kittens could jump out of the box, and by that time they were smarter and not so random, and mama cat showed them the litter box (which I had set up for them) and the food and water bowls. The kittens would also jump back into the box. Later she took them on trips outside to do their business. And by that time the kittens knew me, too. They all found good homes, because my friends and acquaintances could all see that they were good cats. It was a very orderly kitten-raising experience, not at all like the stupid uncivilized behavior of puppies. (I'm not sure this has much to do with why your cat likes boxes!) 🙂

When my cats were tiny kittens they loved to get into empty cereal boxes. One of my cats still loves to snuggle up in bigger boxes. She also loves to get into empty shopping bags. I had cut the handles off the shopping bag she gets into so she won't get tangled up in the handles.

I had two foster cats, a half grown kitten and a ~3 year old male. I was doing some cleaning and had a pile of cardboard from boxes I'd taken down, and a couple small boxes. The kitten found a box that was just right, and he looked so smug sitting in his box. The older cat couldn't find a box and he looked so sad. So I made him a box that was just his size. He walked right in and also looked so smug. Those two would sit in their boxes for hours on end. They were hard cats to see adopted out.

Neither of my cats care much about boxes, yes they can go into them for 5 seconds or so, but overall, seems to do nothing for them, same with toys. Both are outdoor cats, so this would mean they're probably spoiled with better excitement.

Human kids love boxes, too, and sometimes will have more fun playing with the box than the toy or other item that came inside it. That seems connected with imaginative play, and it may be that cats also "pretend" they're in a cave or den or other natural hiding place.

Being a predator that's also a prey animal seems to be the best predictor for getting smarter, so I guess you could say that cats playing in boxes is something we should thank for our fur-babies being so intelligent. Same thing with octopuses, they also like to do similar things, and they are as smart as cats.

The #1 reason? They love to be "tight" all over or swaddled. My neighbor had a kitten and, I have no idea how, but it would jump into a glass vase and turn around inside until its head poked out. They just love to be enclosed. the smaller the box where they can't fit, the more likely that's the one they're choosing!

I you wanna please your cat, you gotta think as a cat! =D A week ago I bought 2 fluffy nests for our kitties, and no one tried them! But they love to cuddle on a fabric bag filled with plastic bags & wrappings. Since I don't want to pollute the environment, I store those wrappings indoors until I can send them for recycling. And our cats just looove the sound they make. Basically, the fabric bag with bags is like that soft shapeless chair for them =D

But cats can get their head stuck between the top flaps if things go wrong. Same with the opening that was cut on the side of one bird that had 4 flaps. Sadly, it can be a cat trap and they can strangulate. So be wary of ways Kitty can get their head (that they love to squeeze into tight junctures)! Cats also LOVE paper bags! They have both cronch and ambush appeal! BTW, I always wondered why cats love to sit on pieces of paper on the floor!

A single can is an it not a they. There are cats, I know of one so there are probably more like him, who like to squeeze into boxes and other containers which are too small for them to fit into comfortably. I suppose they see it as a challenge whether they can do the seemingly impossible.
