What a great show. Thanks for bringing IcePlanet9000 to my attention. I perform the same way as he does and it’s refreshing for me to see what he does with his music.

Fuck yes! This was such an amazing episode! Lots of cool info here. Love the approach and the intention of musicality within the Dark Ambient genre. But most importantly I appreciated the advice on creating music instead of doomscrolling, and procrasti-learming. Yes, indeed!

Karl is such an inspiration and his approach to making music feels so fresh even though, like he says, he's trying to do it like it's 1978 lol

Made famous by Craig Huxley. It was John Lazell who was one of two who first created the blaster beam (drones as they were originally called) in the late 1960's.

Yes - thank you! Big influence was also Mickey Hart. I read somewhere that his Beam was inspired by Pythagoras.

Very interesting - I've used Reaper as my daw for years, and I've never once seen it crash. Not that I'm building complex arrangements yet - still learning digital production - but yeah. Anyone else using Reaper and running into crashes?
@VultureCulture6 күн бұрын
I use REAPER and love it! I definitely think it's the most stable DAW but I've had many crashes, mostly because of VST's. Not that REAPER should be blamed for that but still, like everything it does crash sometimes.

Soapbox Pickups aren’t a thing, AFAIK … SoapBAR pickups are definitely a thing … Must be what he meant? Humbuckers aren’t jangly … Quite a bit of misinformation here, from a non-guitarist, lol. Edit: ‘my playing slide guitar thing’ … ie, slide … ☺️
@angelspitmusic8 күн бұрын
I'm not a guitarist and guitar related technology is not my specialty. I am interested in sound design and creation. Most of all, I am interested in inspiring people. I hope you can see past my stumblings and hear what I'm trying to do, and the message I'm trying to share - which is MAKE YOUR MUSIC.
@kierenmoore32368 күн бұрын
@ Yes, all good … I am filling in the gaps for people trying to track down the things you intended to refer to. You did basically say you were making s#*+ up at that point … and you weren’t wrong, lol. The message at the end was my favourite part. ❤️🎶

Actually I believe *I* said Soapbox pickups first in the conversation (in a part that was edited out) and Karl was just responding naturally using my words. So it's my fault and I also didn't catch it in editing because I didn't know any better. We're never trying to spread misinformation here, but trying to spread knowledge and inspire people to make awesome music!
