I always find it intuitively easier when first to act, jam/fold type situations. Knowing when to call/re-jam is much more difficult. We're lucky to have such amazing tools and free content available! P.s. I love your podcast btw!

Great topic and interesting vid. Away from solvers, I would tend to think that AJs and AQo are supposed to be calls as people don't stick to a "perfect" range to raise/fold/shove with.

What kind of- you do realize population tends to 3b jam way too tight from SB v BTN open. Most people don’t ship it in with their KJs for 30bbs. What do you mean “away from solvers it’s a call”!?

for the 4.8bb jam spot, i thought the jam range would be so much wider and think most would jam wider too, if he folds theres a very good chance he doesnt make the money still which also would make me want to jam wider

A few interesting spots there. I think the AJs is interesting. Also the 107ss is a really tight spot for me and in game would depend on how active the players behind me are, as I could see myself deviating. Do you have experience with ICMizer? I am not the biggest fan so far, would you reccomend HRC?

Hey Gareth, just wanted to say I really enjoy your content.... A conversation we've had in my group lately and something you didn't really cover here surrounds HRC ranges... Admittedly I haven't played a lot with the Beta but in the past HRC preset ranges have been notoriously bad and always needed to be adjusted using whatever presolved monker ranges were available and / or what initiatively seemed close. How were you going about determining which PF ranges to use here in these ICM scenarios, the range should be also adjusted for ICM to run these sims accurately no? PS that T7s was only 99% fold, you just found the sliver... APPROVED!

Hey Galen, glad you enjoy the content! Yeah, you're right that in the past HRC ranges were pretty useless. The Beta though is an absolute game changer. I ran all of these solutions in ICM mode so they're pretty accurate and I don't need to edit them or copy in Monker ranges for the spot. Remember too that ICM strategies will be very different from ChipEV strategies so the Monker ChipEV solutions won't be useful here.

That will be nice if you do more of this to share the link of the solution. I don't know if it was possible when you do the video. The AJs is a shove if you use FGS and MTTICM. A program like ICMizer in MTT mode and FGS will give you a way better result imo

Thanks for the suggestion, Eric! Yeah I don't think it was possible when I recorded this video, but it is now and I'll see what I can do in the future. I doubt ICMIZER will be better than HRC Beta though for this job as it doesn't understand postflop equity realisation. Happy to be proved wrong. I recorded this a while ago so not 100% sure, but fairly confident I would've used MTT-ICM mode in HRC Beta and I'm happy the solution is correct. Could always run longer for greater accuracy too.

Imo, in these ICM videos, I think you should also highlight bubble factors of different spots so that people can relate to how RP heavy these spots are and can adjust their ranges wrt it. Good stuff nonetheless! :)

I’ve had in mind for ages that the shorter the stack you have, the less valuable suited connectors & gappers become and the more valuable Ax hands become. The reason for this is because the greatest value of suited connectors is their playability post-flop. You can use your equity to barrel draws on later streets. Once you get short you’re more likely to use your fold equity to shove hands and therefore Ax become more valuable because, to some extent at least, they block some of villain’s calling range. For that reason I would’ve thought the T7s was a fold

I don't think UTG range with 5BB shoves that tightly, seen people shove any broadways and suited Aces, even suited connectors, even on bubble. BB is about to hit him and SB also, sometimes making people desperate, so I think you got some skewed results by putting in a faulty opening range (solver range). People don't play like solvers. At least 99% of us. Loved the video, learned a lot though. Flat calling TT in that spot and then folding to a 3bet would be real hard but seems accurate on the bubble. But damn I would struggle to fold.

The hands in purple/blue form part of a polarised opening range - we raise/call the top and raise/fold the bottom. The hands in pink/red form part of a condensed range and want to jam. Does that help?

Shouldn´t you run it multiple times after adjusting opponents jaming and calling ranges and see how it affects the outcome(so-called worst and best case scenarios)? Maybe I´m missing something.

@@psiiilo That's correct. This video was great but we cannot take this results in consideration to make decisions when we are playing aganst people, not robots. Population will play very different from what HRC suggests, hence we should play different as well. It's good to know how the ranges work, but to make right decisions u gotta to think those in game.
