I just took out my dark walnut kitchen cabinets last fall and put in white ones, which I love. I don’t give a darn what anyone thinks. We built our house 14 years ago and I went with the latest grooviest look- ( dark wood cabinets and floors) but I got over that depressing look within a few years, and yearned for a bright happy kitchen. Finally, I got to remodel, just in time to be told white cabinets are “ out”. I’m done with others opinions and what the latest trends are. I’ll do what I want!🤦‍♀️🤷‍♀️😁

Agreed. And all you have to do is add flowers or a plant for color. I did not do all white bc of the cleaning but I think it’s the best for making the room light and bright. I especially like white countertops with veining and it doesn’t have to be marble or quartz. It can be laminate or solid surface. I didn’t do that either. But that’s ok I like my white cabinets.

Waited 30 years to get rid of my country blue 1980 kitchen. I wanted an all white kitchen with good quality cabinets and some lighted glass door cabinets and chrome appliances. I just love my new white kitchen. Every day when I get up in the morning I just say I love love love my white kitchen. I will never get tired of it. I don’t know who comes up with what is in and out but they are wrong on this one!!!!

There will always be an evolution in design and I enjoy the kitchens you are showing, but a homeowner could go broke keeping up with new styles. All white is a classic look and good for resale and as you point out, you can change a few items like pendants, seating and accessories to add flair.

I've been lusting over white kitchens since the 80's, both contemporary ones and traditional. Back in the Tuscan era, I dreamed of painting my parents dark brown cabinets white, which was not a thing people did. Later, I dated a guy who had a 1920's kitchen with white painted cabinets, and black and white floor tiles, and I LOVED it, and this was in 2005. I think it might be dead as a trend, but if I've loved it for decades, then I will love it forever. I love trends. I love being current. I just think I love a white kitchen more.

Love my white kitchen. It suits me and tends to disappear into the walls of my open floor plan. I have introduced oak in tv cabinet, dining and console tables. It just works!!! A couple of modern, mustard swivel chairs to add colour. White allows you to add the colour in other forms.

See, this is what I mean about being careful with the titles. If this video had indeed answered the "why" in its title, we'd have a better grasp of what is wrong with the white kitchen that people like Katemclean3301 love so much. (I happen to think that white kitchens don't work because they show dirt and grime too much. The white oak trend is the perfect solution to keeping kitchens easy to clean but still light and bright.)

Kitchens are not fads so when it comes to your home just go for what you like. After all we have to live with our choice each day.

Hi lisa Just wanted to add that your production is amazing. I think more designers should look at how you present. Many show their faces while talking and no picture of the designs to show what they are talking about while talking. Bc you do a split screen you are on point with your demonstration of what depicts what you look for. This is very important. Seeing a talking head doesn’t have nearly the impact you provide with the split screen. Moreover you don’t pop the pictures in and out. You leave them up so we can study them. And believe me I am looking at everything while you are talking. Thank you😊

Bluntly, I think it's *designers* who are tired of white kitchens. They see hundreds of kitchens a year, the majority are probably white, and the same old color surely gets old. But if you're not a designer, probably the only kitchen you deal with on the regular is your own. You aren't getting the repetitive exposure to white kitchen, white kitchen, white kitchen with an island, white kitchen with a skylight, white kitchen with a white subway backsplash, and oh look, yet another white kitchen, etc. that designers get. So you're less likely to get bored with white.

As the owner of a cleaning company, I wish ALL designers would also consider this aspect of design because if it’s beautiful but it’s hard to maintain that way what good is it going forward? The kitchen I’m in the middle of designing now doesn’t have any windows. Therefore, decided on matt pearl for the uppers and lowers, including the 3 door pantry. Only the island will be dark and fluted where the stools are. Floors will be tiles in checkered solid beige and wood matching the flutes on the island. This way I can go to town with the granite, backsplash 😊

The words of an interior designer are his/her personal choice to what the trend is. I love my White Kitchen. I compliment it with black, stainless, espresso, gray & wood tones, and it's Timeless to me. Let's not dictate what's is right and wrong in design. It's all a personal preference.

I have an oak kitchen. I’m not replacing it as my entire house has oak trim. Too much work. So I add modern touches to my oak. Like black handles for cupboards etc..

I feel like this is a nice adjustment to the all-white trend…bringing back some color but not a total color barf gives the space some personality and charm and in my opinion, more pleasing on the eye. Nothing wrong with all white. Plus… designers are creatives, thankfully! I love that you’re always bringing us new trends and ideas. It’s up the homeowner to choose what they like for their own homes. How fun is that! 😍🥰

Last year, we renovated our post-war kitchen and dining room. We knocked down walls to make 1 big room with eat-in kitchen. We did light gray shaker cabinets, white shiplap on exposed walls, and forest green backsplash for pop of colour. We are so happy with the result. Watching these videos were helpful but we would not do anything more moving forward. We did the work ourselves with the help of Home Hardware.

Just curious-what DO you suggest for a kitchen that has no upper cabinets (by design choice) if you don’t t use at least one or two open shelves? Texture in a kitchen would be a nightmare to clean unless you never cook or eat in it. But I like the idea of using a bit of color in a white kitchen to integrate decor colors from the rest of the house. Relatively inexpensive upgrade and easy to change out down the road. But a basic white kitchen is bright, elegant, and timeless.

The kitchens look lovely. Anyone who gets a basket style textured pendant for the kitchen though would be much better off DIYing an actual basket tough enough to scrub. Because that will gather cooking oils and dirt! Also the textured hood, though beautiful, is not practical for the kitchen. How DOES one clean or wipe it?? An open shelf or two is a breeze to clean compared to those.

A white kitchen will never go out of style. The paint manufacturers just want to sell paint. You can change up a white kitchen by incorporating color with your bar stools, place mats, washable rugs, towels and wall decor. I love a white, subway tile backsplash, white cabinets and a dark countertop. What a nice backdrop for a little color if wanted.

Oh, dont do it .....unless you like cleaning it every week. I can recommend having cupboard that goes all the way to the ceiling instead ....eventually have the top cupboard with glass doors so you can display favorite things , ...you can even install some LED so it becomes part of of the general light.....

I think white kitchens look good in pictures but I'd never buy a house that has one. I just prefer natural wood tones. Even factory painted cabinets will eventually develop wear areas with the wood tone shows through. Classic designed woodtone cabinets just age so much better. Staying away from trends also allows your home age well, also.

Trends are just that trends. Personally I am over stainless steel appliances with dark cabinets and granite countertops. My sister likes honey oak cabinets with greenery on the top (so late 90s). You do you and what you like unless selling your home. But, millennials are buying homes. So current trends lean towards tbem.

Thank you Lisa for declaring the all white kitchen dead! It is too clinical and cold. White was classic, in the past when it was so separated from the rest of the house, . But since the kitchen is now open to more rooms, it needs to relate to the whole house. It needs to be warmer and welcoming. An all white kitchen is pristine, but it is not warm and welcoming. And it feels very disjointed, and even unsettling, when moving from a warm room, into an all white room. it is like a white color shock to the eye...uncomfortable). All White kitchen were classic in the past... but even then, they did not have all white countertops and white floors. Function comes first...If a kitchen is used as intended (to prepare food)... then white is a really bad choice. People who love all white kitchens , usually do not cook at all. But what a real cooks needs is an easy to maintain family kitchen, that is comfortable to work in.. And all white is not a comfortable or practical color, when dealing with kitchen messes.
