As a person who is not even 100% sure which end of a rod to put in the water (lol) I really appreciate your videos. They are helpful and straight to the point. Thank you. I'm going to try this fishing thing tomorrow!

Thank you so much! You made my day. I try to keep my videos as straight to the point as possible (although sometimes I get caught up in all the bs of making a KZbin video lol) Definitely get out there tomorrow! Just have patience and take everything as a learning lesson. Come back here and tell me how it went! Good luck rboll!

All goood suggestions. Similar to your bottom rig for lakes I like to use a teardrop weight at the bottom and then space hooks on leaders 2ish feet from the bottom and then 2-3 feet between hooks on the second one (AZ allows 2 hooks per line) with powerbait eggs. Allows for presentation at multiple levels in the water table and useful for gauging their suspension level.

Really good advice. All I’ve ever used is spinners and man they work. Gonna have to give the power bait a try.

Use joes flies, they are superior to rooster tails in every way. 😊

The strongest and easiest line-to-lure knot of all time is the Palomar Knot. I HAVE...on dozens of occasions at outdoorsman shows, gotten a Palomar Knot to hold 100% line strength when tested with the pull-scales at the fishing line company booths. This one guy at a Stren fishing line booth years ago was teaching people how to properly tie the Improved Clinch Knot and when he was done, I took the line, ran one end through the eye, formed a loop and ran the tag end back through the eye and tied a simple overhand knot with the loop and passed the lure through the loop after. Then wetted the knot, cinched it and clipped the tag end. When he put it on the the pull scale, the line broke and the knot held at 100%. Mr. Stren couldn't believe his eyes. He did the test himself and then he tried tying three more Palomar Knots, tested them and got the same result. Mr. Stren said "Thank you for teaching me that!" and went to tell his other Mr. Stren buddies about what I just showed him.

The Berkley Mice Tails can be deadly in still water. For those not familiar with them, they are a Power Bait egg with a tail about an inch and a half long. Cast out and twitch your rod occasionally, giving that tail some pretty enticing action.

I've seen these before but have never tried them. I will probably give them a shot next season thanks steve!

So you don't use a weight or bobber with a spinner/pink worm?
@NikolasMarshall8 ай бұрын
When fishing a spinner you should not use a bobber or weight. A bobber is meant to float and keep a bait off of the bottom and allow it to drift downstream. You could use a bobber with the pink worm. I have seen people do it, but I just have not given it a shot. Great question!

Used the bottom rig today with my friend and it definitely worked. Caught around 30 between the both of us. Only bad part is the fish absolutely swallow it so if you’re not catching to cook then you will likely kill a lot of fish. Definitely bringing a cooler next time.
@NikolasMarshall8 ай бұрын
Awesome dude thats what I like to hear! Yes you will gut hook a lot of them but hey they are meant to be cooked up anyways. Keep on catching them bro

I’m new to the fishing world, been trying to get out here and there, but a lot of lakes around me have the nasty bottom, lost 3 hooks so far, so I’m a little worried about spinners… Do you have any luck using plastic worms for trout?
@NikolasMarshall8 ай бұрын
Lakes can be tough to bottom fish. I have never caught a trout on a plastic worm at a lake, but at the river I have caught plenty on it. If you want to use the plastic worm I showed in the video, I would suggest maybe using a drop shot rig. This will help keep the worm off of the bottom. I will be able to answer this question with 100% certainty in the fall because that is when bottom fishing for trout picks up at my lake. My lake just went up about 60 feet, and there is a ton of new brush and trees submerged which makes it very difficult to bottom fish. Hopefully I find an answer for you Daniel.

Joes flies are by far the best spinners you can get. Better than rooster tails, panther martins etc, and it's not close. Joes flies ladies and gentlemen.

Is it too hot for stocked trout? Been consistently 80 degrees with showers and heard it was bad for trout. Don't want to waste my time in the hot weather yk lol
@NikolasMarshall8 ай бұрын
I still think you can go out and catch them. You just have to target the right locations. Deep pools or shaded areas will probably hold the most fish. Also fish early morning and late afternoon. I would say that things have slowed down. This is usually what happens. April is usually the best month.

I've never get trout with those cheep spinners. And there's only trout where I live. High Desert 🤔 the fish live cricket 🦗 nightcrawlers, mino's fly fishing is the same thing as baits. Throw and wait.
@NikolasMarshall8 ай бұрын
Interesting. Are the trout wild or stocked? Every place is different so I guess you just have to throw everything and see what works.
@tommyrispin447 ай бұрын
Treble hooks. For trout are cruel. If u get small trout on them. Thier dead. And ur killing. The. Future. Barbless. Size. 12s. Are the only sporting way ,
@NikolasMarshall7 ай бұрын
Hey tommy you are right. My state only stocks keeper size trout in the rivers, so I only use a treble hook if I am going to keep fish. There are very few wild trout in my local rivers, and there is no shot they would eat powerbait hahaha. Thanks for the info.
