Austin's parents divorced when he was young, and it affected him deeply. He 'learned' that love didn't work. Then he and his 5 yr girl friend broke up and it really hit him hard, reinforcing the lesson.

I will miss Austin he is a great singer. High tenor. I can hear Tim's bass and Adam's beatboxing. The harmonies are great and i love Home Free, they are my favorite group. No one will change my mind and they are the best. Adam is the best beatboxer. 😊❤❤❤❤❤❤

Austin wrote this after a hard break-up, prior to meeting his (now) wife. He is such a talented singer/song writer. BTW, the woman in the video is an actress. He also wrote "If I Met You Now" & "Lonely Girls World" around the same time. He later wrote "Save the World" among others for Amberly. Thanks for playing this & your comments.

This was his way of healing I think when getting over a broken relationship. This is sad, beautiful, romantic, and memorable all in one. Wow this is just so good!!! I agree that one line was sad. I had someone explain it to me and it made sense. He says they 'taught him" not told him. I forgot that his parents split when he was young, and it affected him greatly. It is sad to think how much we can affect someone else by our actions and our mistakes. I am so glad that he now has Amberlee to make his life and his heart complete.

HIS PARENTS' DIVORCE TAUGHT HIM no one could love him like that. Austin said he ceased to believe in love after his parents divorced.

For me, Austin's most beautiful song is "If I Met You Now," on his channel. He accompanies himself on piano. You owe yourself this pleasure.

The group had to persuade him to write a song to help him deal with the breakup. This is the result of that. In concerts you can really hear the cry in his voice on this one.

This song and video are stunningly beautiful! I love Austin’s originals. Another one of my favorites by him is If I Met You Now; he plays piano in a field while sing it and it is touching and beautiful! Thank you for another wonderful reaction! Love Home Free! ❤ yes, their originals belong on the radio!

This is such a sad song. “My parents TAUGHT me.” He saw their divorce and drew his “child” conclusions-they didn’t TELL him. He was obviously a loved child -his relationship with his aunts, cousins, grandparents, etc. prove that.

@@shilohauraable As so many of us did, I so identify with this song and what Austin meant and felt with his parents. It changes every part of your life. It was heartbreaking too watching Austin go through the breakup of him and Olena. It touched us all who cared about him. But now he is so happy and watching that happen step by step was wonderful! Life can hurt and there is no question about that.

Knowing that your ex really did love you "like that" is hardly a "beautiful thing", it just makes the pain worse. Olena, Austin's gf of 5 years, left him despite that love. So correctly he's analysing in the ssong what led him to behave so that someone who really loved him would leave him, As posters have said below, you didn't listen carefully to the lyrics - his parents did not tell him anything and I'm not sure why you would think they would. Their divorce *taught* him that lasting romantic love does not exist, a fatal belief to take into a relationship. Btw the reference to the Cayman Islands is to a wonderful holiday that he and Olena spent there. Some time you might check out a live version of the song dating back to about 2019. The commitment that the other guys show to the song is clear on all their faces and in their voices. Other songs that Austin and collabs wrote about this period are Lonely Girl's World (about the other fatal mistake, not listening and supporting) and If I Met You Now, which is heartbreaking.

As with Warmest Winter, this is a song about loss, but also about finding the good in the grief -- something Austin excels at. He's looking back at the ended 5-year relationship and recognizing that because of it he unlearned the lesson he learned from his parents' divorce.

Austin wrote this song after the breakup of his ex-girlfriend Oleana Noelle. Austin's parents got divorced when he was young, and that's why he h as said that. When I first heard this song you can hear the pain in his voice. It was Tim that sang" Do you love me" I really enjoyed watching your reaction to this song.

Let me reassure you about that lyric. It has always bothered me as well. Last month I had the UVIP experience at the Home Free concert and had the chance to chat with Austin and I asked him about it. He said that nothing was ever said directly, it was that he watched his parents' relationship problems and that made him think that that kind of love wasn't possible.

I've always interpreted it as watching his parents split taught him that. Not them saying it - their actions. He says "taught me"....not told me. Great reaction as always. Thanks. Love this song so much. 💔🍟 Oh yeah, the "Will you love me" in the background is Tim.

A beautiful original song where the voices flow so beautifully together in an amazing harmony with the great bass, carried by unsurpassable beatboxing. Perfectly well dosed so that it just sounds perfect. I had the exact same thought as you about Rob sounding so great at the end here. Something that Austin normally does, but Rob shows here that he can do that too. The lyrics are beautiful, but unfortunately I think that many do not experience such love even though they deserve it. Just like me😊. I am divorced and with my second partner I had a relationship full of problems where I lived 90% of his life. He eventually died due to these problems, among other things. But I did have the most beautiful gifts from my first marriage: four beautiful, sweet children.😉🥰

This song is beautifully written. Austin's lyrics are *chef's kiss* and gosh he knows how to make something beautiful, even if (according to the Fries) this song is not about love at all, but the ending of it! Still, the lyrics are stunning and the whole song was just amazing. Thank you Teri for this wonderful song choice, it was really lovely to hear another Austin original. Thank you DJ for this lovely reaction. It's nice to know that your positivity shines through as always...

Can"t agree. He is quite clearly saying that what he learned from his parents' divorce was that romantic love can't last but that his gf *did* in fact love him completely and lastingly. He is in no way being mean about her, quite the reverse.

I hate the level to which I relate to this song. To go through the pain of losing love… it’s not fun to say the least. I’m super happy that he’s found love again, hopefully I’m not far behind him❤

Yeah I didn’t like that line either but I think he was talking about his parent’s divorce and how it affected him. It made him afraid to commit. This song is about his longtime girlfriend Oleana (that’s not her in the video). Oleana is in the video Sold and a couple more. I think Austin was too afraid to commit and she broke up with him. He found Amberly and now they’re married so he’s fine. The part “you love me” is sung by Tim. Yep, he’s going high in this one. Rob was great and I agree, you forget they’re a cappella. Good one! 😄😍

You totally missed this one. Listen again and you will hear him singing in the past. He was singing about powerful memories of his first live. He had high expectations of love and his parents warned him that he was seeing too much into her love. After 5 years she left him. Last view on the beach. If you listen to behind the scenes you'll understand he could hardly sing the song.
@patriciamcl54

You have misinterpreted the events. Austin's parents split up when he was young and he learned from that as a child that romantic love never lasts. Despite being in love with Olena, what he had taken in as a child made it impossible for him to put what was needed into their relationship. His parents as far as we now never said anything against her, in fact there is lots of evidence that the couple spent happy holidays in Tifton with his family. She is also a sweet person that no parent would object to. In fact it was the direct opposite of what you say, his expectations were not high enough. Please don't try to make their break-up her fault. Goodness knows what you make of Lonely Girl's World and If I Met You Now, both songs of bitter regret.
