I picked up 2 9.9s of last ronin for that exact census reason. Got them at 520 per. 9.9 is the actual 9.8 of that issue. Just too many 9.8s out there to hold value long term. Also picked up :25 and :100. Then the lost years run of incentive variants in 9.9 for the eventual prequel. I love the turts though lol

Top tens with the gem mint guy are usually the older (pre 21st century) key issues that are most popular and selling the most online. The trending books are things that are connected to other avenues: movies, shows, music, stuff that has a tie to anything that non comic fans may be hyped about too (like Taylor Swift. They probably don’t know what a “Dazzler” means but they’re gonna see whatever movie they know Taylor Swift is in.), see? So the dazzler book is up in value because it’s “trending” but this time next year after that movie comes and goes, you won’t see this book any longer “trending” because the hype is over. Eternals #1 is a great example of how this works because for almost a year leading up to the movie, that book was reaching heights in the thousand dollar range. When the movie came out it sucked and not only did this book lose ALL its appeal, but it also lost ALL its value too. People who bought it wasted 999 dollars if they paid a grand for it because it was is and will forever be a dollar bin book. That’s why it’s cool to look at the trending books and see what they think is the hottest books in the market right now but it’s not smart to buy them. Real comic collectors who’ve been doing this for years like me understand that this show is for ENTERTAINMENT ONLY. It’s not good to follow it to make purchasing decisions because you’re going to lose money. Period. Even when they put blue chip books on their list (like hulk 181 or the X-Men 94 book on this list here) they list the book at a bad purchasing point and then they list prices that are exorbitant which means the book is peaking up and can go nowhere but down in value. I hope this helps and I hope you don’t buy too much stuff from following these lists on this show. Never turns out well…
