Zorah Magdaros may be the bulkiest monster we've had thus far. Shame that the massive-scale turtle was more of a set piece and plot piece in World than a proper fight. Other than that, I think Dalamadur deserves a comeback as serpentine monsters of that scale really haven't been a thing in recent MH games as much.

The developers themselves once said in an interview that underwater in 3rd gen just took way too much development resources. Don't think just making the movesets work underwater; think about any movement, physics, mechanics, or orientation in the water at all. For the most part, underwater combat is mechanically closer to a second game than a feature. Also keep in mind they would not be able to use much from 3rd gen because new mh is incredibly different, far beyond what fans of the games understand. I'm sure they could make it fun, but would the tradeoff even be worth it? I'd guess probably not even close for most people.
@eandlbloodflower6765
@eandlbloodflower6765 Жыл бұрын
Maybe a few generations in the consoles would allow underwater to return, if they will have enough assets to work with in order to lighten the development of ground fights. If they could develop it, it could probably be one of the main selling points of future MH games -- the inclusion of actual and good underwater combat in a game which is rarely, if ever, tackled.

Yeah but that was literally over a decade ago, and now they have a bigger, more experienced team, better tech to work with, and presumably a bigger budget allocated by Capcom's higher-ups on account on the success and growth of the franchise following the 5th gen.

@@Going4Broke2528 and? They’ll put that into making a better monster hunter game. On land. No matter what you say, adding an entire underwater mechanic will halve or close to halve how much they can add in terms of monsters.
@Verminator4
@Verminator4 4 ай бұрын
They had limited success adding underwater combat in 3rd gen even with the relatively simple moveset weapons had back then. Making it work with the much more elaborate movesets weapons now have would take an absurd amount of work and there’s still the risk that it will again not be that fun. It’s just not worth it. I would like to see a return to underwater MH, but in a spinoff with its own mechanics and gear distinct from mainline MH.

I think Ahtal-ka has a chance to return in Sunbreak because although not related, there are two spider monsters there already, meaning the concept of using silk and web is already there, and it wouldn’t be too hard to implement, plus with how crazy Sunbreak is already, a giant bug with a giant mech doesn’t sound too crazy.

This is a very smart way to do it. I believe I have seen something like this in Runescape as well, so its a smart way to get around doing the insane amount of weapons animations. The other way they could do it would be basically to set up 1 monster hunter game on the current engine where they do underwater and incorporate all the animations at a limited roster, and then they could use that as their stepping stone and port a lot of the animations and stuff into future titles. Sort of how like Elden Ring has a lot of the same skeletons, boss types, and animations from the older games.

Semi Aquatic monsters: Capcom can make Boats a unique way to hunt then using boats similar to Jhen Mohran and Dahren Mohran, if there was a closed area like that with water on it and balissta and and a land and no Swimming mechanic then they will just force us to make use Balista and cannon until the monster comes out for a second phase or something like that.

Yes, hilarious but, would be awesome If Ahtal-Ka were added in rise, and still maintain her theme and bring back again the XX proof of a hero (definitely the best, no discussion) it would be a really crazy fight, just see the epicity in Ibushi and Narwa allmother

I know people hate underwater combat but it was fun (well for me at least) but I wish mh rise hat it due to the wire bug we could of moved quickly under the water or in this new monster hunter wilds game coming out next year they could add it due to a item in the hunters arm like the slinger/clutch claw I can see a harpoon like attachment to pull the hunter towards the monster I can imagine harpooning a royal ludroth and being pulled towards it and attacking it

I'd love to see a game where they just keep adding older monsters to the list, and new variations, thats mainly what im hoping will happen with the 6th gen game. Mainly because my 1st experiance with a MH game wasnt till world, and I abosultly fell in love with the franchise, but knowing there are monsters I've never seen or got to take on, makes me wish they were in World or will come back in future installments.

If you have a Switch, a good way to experience a lit of the older monsters is to play GU. I started with World and went back to GU to face the older monsters. Once you get used to the older gameplay, it's pretty fun.

maybe the gimic of the next game will be PVP, like people useing monsters to controll and conqor villiages and the new function is to tame some monsters as actual mounts (like Palamutes) but the combat mechanic is an engine like in JEDI Fallen Order with a block/parry with all types of weapons , making PVP possible. You know to save the monsters, what do you think, Team Darkside?

We've seen the return of two of its fellows among the Black Dragon Club, Alatreon and regular Fatalis, so never say never when it comes to the angry volcano dragon. Hell, they could even show him walking out of the water as a homage to where it was first met. :p

world/iceborne also got several (yes you read that right) massive monsters you can fight outside of its final bosses (xeno jiiva and shara ishvalda). kulve taroth, safi jiiva, behemoth (dunno whether you can consider it as massive dragon, but at least for me it was different), last and definitely not least, fatalis itself. yeah i skipped zorah magdaros. that fight wasn't fun at all. sadly, rise/break haven't got any fun massive boss fights outside its final bosses.

This was a great video, but I will have to disagree on Ahtal-Ka and Dire Miralis. My counter arguement stems from the fights with Alatreon and Fatalis in World. Those are completely different fights then there originals and I feel the same treatment can be applied to at least these examples, it just requires a new circumstance or situation for both monsters.

I was never able to play a Monster Hunter game until World came out, but out of these five monsters you quoted Dire Miralis could be the most likely one that could return because even if on land it feels like a slowed down Fatalis that shoots magma balls; its fight isn't fully under water like Ceadeus (that can't return without the return of under water combat), so Dire Miralis fight could be changed and revamped just like how Fatalis was kinda revamped in the last title update of Iceborne, i think it in this way

Dalamadur is my favourite monster and I would love to see it return. The verticality problem can also easily be solved with a clutch claw or wirebug, not to mention verticality was already refined with newer entries. I imagine making a fight on that scale would be tricky to pull off on new hardware but it would be such a spectacle.

9:59 And this is the only part where i strongly disagree. I know it's obvious, but people got matrixed so hard by this monster that it seems many people forgot. Ahtal-Ka are not born with their mechs, the 2 can be separated. And if you really like the Athal-Ka that much (I don't) I don't think you need the mecha to like the monster. Personally I would love to see the monster again but not as a final boss but as a much weaker monster (3-4 stars taking the Sunbreak base for the GR). For example, in the sandy plains, I think seeing the mantis using its silk to just throw ruins at your face would make sense, plus would be enough. The basis of the monster is not to create a mecha = It is to use its silk and its intelligence to trap and kill you. So on the contrary, I think our favorite mantis has every chance for the next MH but not at all as a final boss (Or that would mean that there are plenty of fortresses with dragonator lying around in the wild, which is not so unlikely after all)
@rayzuke1232
@rayzuke1232 Ай бұрын
yeah we need more Ahtal-Ka fights. Right now it feels like the one piloting the mech was the last of it's kind. There has to be some Ahtal-Ka that fight using the skeleton of dead elder dragons or something like that. For a monster whom's fight can be customized to be virtually anything they sure did not do anything with it.

I'm playing through Rise right now and can safely say I disdain Rampage quests compared to the old siege quests. It's a lot more frantic and I feel like I'm juggling way too many things. What I hate about Rampage is the fact that it locks Ibushi behind a bunch of busywork to get another crack at a Wind Serpent Orb or Claw. It would be one thing if Ibushi dropped a bunch of materials on defeat but he doesn't.
