The best fishing advice I ever got was 'Elephants will eat peanuts'. Big fish got that size by eating anything and everything in thier path, so never be afraid to go small.

That is the perfect analogy and couldn't be more correct just the other day I had a double figure pike on a 40mm FFS craw21

One of the absoutely biggest brown trout I ever caught was biting on a hook size 13 with a natural baby sized insect larvae. We used to catch greylings this way. The biggest perch I caught was eating a tiny worm on a size 14 hook! I have heard that in Sweden experienced fishermen sometimes fly fish for big river trout with artificial ants! A friend caught a nearly three feet long pike with an extremely tiny worm on a size 12 hook. It had a sparrow in the stomach!

Absolutely awesome! Your fishing videos have taught me a lot about different approaches to catching different species of fish in ways you wouldn't think.. I've been fishing for 45 years and I'm 49 now and as mad for it now as when I was a kid.. I love lure fishing now I'm older and love the fact your actually hunting your quarry.. my kind of fishing.. I've had good success with perch over 5lb and pike to 22lb on a wire trace and a single hook . Nothing else.. my next mission is a tench on a lure.. your number 1 fisherman on you tube.. much respect from me..❤

Hi Chris. I really enjoy your videos. They are calm and peaceful, just like the fishing trips I enjoy. Lovely to see those tench. My local river is called the Yarra and it has mainly European carp which are considered a pest in Australia. However carp always put up a good fight, so they are fun to catch. Keep up the good work. Kind regards MP

You gotta love Tench. To me, it's the first day of the season, the 16th, on the river. I still get the buzz and excitement now, just like when i was a kid . I Fish mid severn, not a lot of tench where i fish, but a few spots hold them in the margins. I'm typing this in the dark, waiting for dawn . No night fishing allowed here, but i won't be sleeping, that's for sure. Thanks for the vid, love it.

We started using this lures in competitions for perch and what not a long while ago. Best way to fish small worms and creatures is on cheburashka rig. Start with 1gr up to 3gr tungsten beads. As for the hooks, japanese finesse hooks do work the best. This exact lure(polaris) gave me my personal record for perch at 36cm on a city river!

Brilliant vid. What canal is that? I fish the broads and upper stretches of my local rivers but sadly they just don’t hold fish in quantity or quality any more. I’ve only ever caught one roach on a lure but I one got into a shoal of feeding Rudd which happily took every worm I cast there way. That tench was magical.

We're doing this in Russia and other post soviet (CIS) countries with the lightest/thinnest fishing equipment possible. Called "мормышинг", used to be a on ice fishing method, but since progress stepped forward with the most delicate lines and rods, someone in CIS first tried it many years ago to catch small perches the most effective way possible during sport events to get tons of points (per fish caught). Later people realised that even the tiniest non-predatory fish can also be cought on the smallest hooks and artificial lures (silicone). Мормышинг is gaining a lot of popularity in our region, epsecially among big cities' public, because with this method you can always catch something in every puddle hehe, unlike throwing regular jig hundred of times without catchning anything most of the time. With мормышинг I've caught 12 species of fish in the closest small river, it's amazing. On still water, we're using mostly 0.2-0.3gr sinkers, rarely can go up to 1gr or so depenging on the conditions and target fish. Lines are either braids PE#0.08-0.2 or regular monofilament 0.05-0.1mm. The size of the fish Ginger Fisherman catshes with this method is astonishing, great job.
