Hi my friend. I just came across your channel and subscribed. Your 3rd gen z28 is clean and looks great with that LSX motor in.. congrats.. I'm building and restoring my 94 trans am from the ground up and also building my 383 stroker LT1. It's a project trans am. I'm building a show car and also street strip.. it's a fun project. But yet a little pricey lol.. what part of New York are you from??

I cant speak for everyone, but definitely enjoy the in depth videos like this on the Camaro. Its incredibly useful info and for our cars can be hard to find in a easy to understand format for those of us who are new to Camaros and cars in general. Keep it up man there is plenty of support behind these vids.

Hello, I specialize in 3rd gen car parts, you asked about those cuts on the radiator air bezel. They were meant to go around 2 structure bars that mounted like an x in front of the radiator.

Might be a "boring" video but at the end of the day you provided useful content that me and lots of other people can use to our advantage! Thanks again brotha

I agree. I'm planning a LSA swap and this kinda info is super useful. It's one thing to see someone do a build, but it takes time to work out all the kinks. It's nice to follow along with someone that's living it.

The cuts in the top of the shroud are for an X brace that bolts onto the front side of the core support. Good call on the vented cap, I'll be snagging one of those up soon for my 4.8 swap.

Great details and very informative. I was certainly entertained you keep putting out content and I will keep watching it. I don't even have a trans am (although I have a 2nd Gen cowl hood on the wall) and my Camaro is a 5th Gen... I came for the truck content and love all the technical details..

Perhaps I missed it, but I'm doing nearly an identical build, what heat exchanger did you end up going with? Lq4+ls3 heads+zl1 LSA blower
@mrodsf1502 жыл бұрын
Hi what's the part number for the heat exchanger? How is it holding up?
@MrGriffin234 жыл бұрын
To decrease engine temps, try removing the rubber weather strip seal at the rear of the engine bay where the hood seals to cowl area. I used to live in AZ and in 100°+ it lowered my temps pretty good. Pretty much allows the air flow vent out and up the windshield.
@red96fb4 жыл бұрын
I have those exact wheels. Do yourself a favor and check the front wheel skirt. On my 4th gen I had trim it up along the fender side because it would rub there. Turning no issues with clearance. It just had a small section that dropped down enough for the tire to rub. I took a multi-tool and trim that section off and reinstalled. I also had to grind down the fins on the rear caliber to clear the rear drag wheels. Not too much just enough to gain clearance.

M'be a cowl reduction hood scoop (allowing hot air to escape at the cowl, going up/over the windshield... promoting better airflow while going down the road... and eliminating some of the "lift" of the nose due to air pressure building up at speed.

Just saw the video, third gen. transams had a lower air dam strip that works alot to lower rad. temp., it runs from side to side on bottom it acts as a ram air, it goes on the plastic you were hitting with your hand, don't know if it works on camaros but it helps alot.

Make sure u have a good high flow thermostat. U don't want that to be the restriction. More flow the better for coolant turbulence in the radiator core. The radiator was most of your problem tho I went through that couple years back.

On your new track wheels what back spacing and size wheel did you go with because from what I remember the rear end your using is 4th gen camaro length correct?

Hard to beat a drill press once you get use to it... though you need some machine oil to save the bits Have you thought of mounting the heat exchanger flat at the bottom so its between the front bumper lip and the airdam that sticks down

Are those recall jackstands!? I had the same color 6 ton ones. I brought them in but they were out of replacements. Grrr. Hopefully they come out with something even better when they restock. Similar to Northern tool ones with locking pin. I miss the graphite color. Gave me an excuse to drop my Trans Am finally. I love the long winded explainations, BTW. Anyone can make burnout videos, but few cover the process behind it. Thanks, and stay safe.

Matt - may I suggest replacing that aluminum backed duct tape with some 1/16" thick ABS plastic? Some 3M panel bond should hold it in place - and it being that thin - thats about the same thickness as the stock material.

Morning from the high desert of Southwest Idaho Matt 😎 . Just wanted to say thanks I really enjoy the channel and I appreciate all your hard work and I'm a Buick guy but I have a weakness for 3rd & 4th gens and I miss my third gen GTA Trans Am. Hopefully I'll have another Street and strip car in the work soon but on the flip side of that coin I recently bought my girlfriend an 07 Tahoe w/ a strong 5.3 in it so will be referencing a lot of the Tahoe stuff for it. Thanks and keep up all the great work bro

You should get an interchiller
@tsherwoodrzero4 жыл бұрын
Looks like you learned the biggest yet seemingly-dumbest lesson of all: Ducting. For my 20B RX-7, I had to feed almost all of the grille's opening directly to the radiator. But to keep the V-mount intercooler fed, the edges of the grille opening got some flexible household furnace duct and some 45 degree floor register boxes to force air through the intercooler. Looked kinda odd, but it works. One thing I'd suggest is cardboard is a useful tool for making duct panels with complex contours.

I just posted a video how I did my heat exchanger, check it out for another idea for ya! You videos are such a help... I do think the front air shroud intake keeps the air from flowing around the HX and condenser. I may do something custom in front with starboard abs stuff 🤷♂️
