I have so much to say but I’ll just say this, buffing a weapon type to “help” mid-lower skilled players like myself makes no sense when anyone in game can pick up the same guns. Clearing buildings: smg and shotguns, mid range: ar’s and DMR’s long range: DMR and Sniper rifles. Why is this difficult? I love the realistic aspect of this game…. This change diminishes this for me. Add aim punch but make it make sense.

I came back to this game after several years away and I really want to like it. Your videos have helped me quite a bit, but I'm basically the new player at this point and I typically loot for a while and get killed. I have a lot of games that I don't even get a shot off. It's pretty frustrating.

I have been playing for 7 years now and this game is just very hard in general. I'm no noob but definitely no reflex god. I can understand what you experience. Most people I encounter are so skilled. In duo's it's a little better because you can help eachother. In squads it's too chaotic/dynamic/random. Duo's for me is the best. Solo's is just scary haha

every competitive game will be like that, if u be off some years or you are a new player your experience will be like this. this is normal. You cant play immediately in same level that player who plays daily, or since 2017. If that happened it would be wrong. PUBG dont stop to add new features that changes the gameplay every new update, in my opinion, are very bad for new players, so much things to learn and very difficult to progress when gameplays changes a lot

Aimpunch DOES need improvement, but this ain't the fix, the amount of times I've been DMR'ing someone and they just bolt me in the head because they can aim perfectly is insane, but they've barely increased DMR aim punch, instead we get another SMG/Shotgun buff. Also, why are we still able to perfectly DMR and bolt from cars and gliders? I'm convinced PUBG have no clue how to make their game better. Fed up of being penalised because I like to run AR/DMR.

This SMG buff will make sense only when they reduce SMG damage by 30%. It's not normal when I pre-fire with AR and guy runs around corner into my spray and reacts late and still kills me without aiming at all, tanking my AR spray all this time. I used to like SMGs when they were niche, but now I straight up hate them and refuse to pick them up on principle. Like, UMP is stronger than M4 in damage numbers, plus all the SMG perks and now even more buffs like this...? How does that make any sense...

I really hope they give up on buffing the SMGs. They're already ridiculously powerful and are doing way too much damage even at ranges that ARs should be dominating from. If they want to make the game friendlier for new players to learn, make casual infinite instead of 3/day, add a better training system that helps players learn how the guns work and their strengths + weaknesses, how different items in the game work and what situations they're great for (considering they've added so many unique items like the EMT gear but there's no tutorial/training that explains it). There's so many things they could do, but they just fall back on buffing SMGs instead. Reminding me of CoD all over again. Buffing the easiest guns to use rather than adding incentive to learn the difficult weapons. Risk and reward is best in a competitive game. If I want to use a weapon with big recoil, I should be rewarded for learning to use it. It should be more powerful stat-wise, but a risk in itself because of the difficulty of controlling it. Feeding players a super easy weapon to control while also making it one of the most powerful? It doesn't make sense!

This comment in itself explains everything wrong with the game atm. Great analysis, very well thought through and easy to understand. This deserves more attention and likes. The fact you brought up about allowing new players more access to schooling fundamentals and training grounds with tutorials on how to use anything and everything. Casual mode being available for low rank and new players with no time spent in game. Allowing them to get the satisfaction of scoring early game kills and also learning how to control said weapon model with said recoil and said aim punch. As well as learning how to properly rotate and positioning themselves in zone where they can’t be picked off so easily by rotating late or in the open. Anyone who has gun sense will tell you that an smg will have slightly less aim punch then any AR that shoots 55.6, when being hit by its rapid spread of bullets. (They would know this by being able to tell that a round as thick as or thicker then 55.6 does a significant amount of damage over then 9mm round). When Krafton realizes that what they are doing isn’t quite making new players any better they will also notice at the same time a 7 year vet on the game can use this smg buff to his own advantage as well, again giving the newer player no chance to make improvements or know even what happened when they die so quickly and easily. The action will contradict itself with time and they will be forced into making a change like the suggestion you made above. Fingers crossed 🤞 hoping they will soon.

I'm not even sure if they're necessarily trying to make them better for new players or just trying to even the usage numbers. Part of the difficulty of them trying to make SMGs viable is that PUBG maps aren't generally made for SMGs, it's a lot of wide open fields, long or medium distance fights, needing fast bullets to shoot out vehicles, etc.. IE you want a rifle, DMR, or sniper. So the relative usage of SMGs is always going to be lower unless they get stupidly over-buffed or they create terrain that really benefits smgs (and even then a rifle is generally more versatile.) Like when it comes down to it, I personally think they just need to make SMGs damage fall-off at distance higher and everything is good. Like sure SMGs have less recoil but they also have the most annoying part of using them at a distance: low bullet velocity. It's so slow for the bullets to travel. Give the players enough tools to close the distance with an SMG without being utterly blasted apart and players would find a way to use them.

I can really only see increasing aim punch for headshots. Keep it what it was for chest shots, and decrease it for limb damage - make it make sense for the damage you're taking. Dumbing the game down so that new people can spam fire SMGs to get early game kills, just so they can get nuked by DMRs and snipers when they can't figure out how to rotate by circle 3 or 4 and they go to the lobby with 1 or 2 kills and they never see the end game, great improvement Krafton

Thanks for the video, Cdome. An interesting test case to have is the effect when you spray, Comparing the spray without getting shot and the spray while being shot at (like slowly get 2-3 bullets to the chest/arm) will show how much it affect the stability of the gun and the recoil pattern.

Oh wow. Hold on a second there Krafton. When they were talking about weapons having more or less aim punch, I thought it was about how much aim punch was inflicted on you based on the weapon that you're holding. But it's instead how much aim punch the weapon inflicts? This is just another SMG buff if anything! Why would you even get aim punch on TPP? Are enemy bullets affecting the magic invisible camera floating behind you? This is WAY worse than how it is in call of duty. How can they afford to make such horrible changes at this state of the game is beyond me. Edit: I kinda missed the VSS being classified at the same category as 5.56 DMRs (17:10) which makes their mistake in their showcase video even funnier for putting it as a 7.62 DMR

In regards to the different levels of Aim Punch they do say eventually different guns of the same caliber will have different levels of Punch. I think from a TDM style, this is good thing. Unfortunately weve all been playing the same game for so long, this change will feel worse then better. But i also think with enough time, itll be sick!

green ammo AR > yellow. bck yellow puch camera, while green move your mark by significant amount. SMG are wild, but i dont think like you could feel that in game, bck of kill time is so fast.

Played one gunplay labs, won the game. Got ten kills (all bots), and didn't get shot even once. Should be done in intense BR or TDM and they should give us coupons or some other incentives for participating.

I agree with you. Imo SMGs are already super strong in close-ish range. How you can spray people down at 50m (even with a scope) and walking left/right at the same time is crazy :D Makes you so much harder to hit. Not even mentioning the aim buff. And they SHOULD be strong in close range situations. It's just the thing that most encounters in a match will most likely be more mid-ranged and in those momenta ARs are just a better choice and for me that is fine as well. I just don't get the desperate try to align statistics (which wepons are used more or less). I never felt the need for that. There might be some weapons who needed adjustments especially when they where new in the game but all of that nerfing ARs and buffing SMGs in a game where weapon balance already is really good is just annoying for me as a player. Really hope this state will not make it to the live servers

it'll be even more horrible with lean spamming... i had no idea camera shake existed and with muzzle break i felt like damn thats clean and want the camera shake to be reduced significantly and now they want to add more bs like this: there's definitely use for this but not to this extent and not only do they need to consider weapon classes they should also consider how much an OP meta weapon will get aimpunched by others because then we can truely call it a weapon balancing to perfection thats done with every weapon in consideration. In the end its still virtual bs that i don't think has any place in pubg it should be like a cherry on top kind of thing. saw a video on twitter the player with 4x was leaning and then gets shot but the aimpunch on it was horrible, it was like aimpunch made the character lean in opposite side..

Targets without armor should not have any aim punch, because bullets just pierce through them and continue traveling with the same energy. But when you have an armor you should feel the aim punch, because bullet gives all of it's energy to the target. Especially when you have 3lvl helmet. Why they doing unlogical opposite things. Then lot of people without armor in the beginning of the match will just die from camera shakiness.

This disincentivizes ego peeks / challenges of bolties against dmrs mostly. It makes complete sense to not be able to quickly target acquire with a one shot weapon when you are getting lit up. It was always stupid to get knocked because there was no aim punch from mini/mk12/sks/slr with a dude just taking hits. Absolutely agree camera shake is equivalent to motion blur, pointless in this game. I do think higher armor should reduce aim punch. Aim punch still needs work because it’s not all remediated with these changes. Smg aim punch makes no sense with how it’s presented here. I think your boost level should affect aim punch, seems like that could help balance it

I picture the camera shake to be your player's head movement. I think they are going about it wrong. It should be highly situational on how different the camera shake is from the reticle movement. Example: If you are laying prone, the camera shake should be significantly less than if you were standing. In order to do it properly it would require a lot of work and memory.

Im new to pubg and the smg shit doesnt make any sense to me. Yes, i am struggling with the recoil, even coming from siege. But making guns with less recoil meta (which is what i feel they are trying) doesn't make me feel like im improving, just makes me feel like im delaying the inevitable. If they feel recoil is the only/main thing causing problems for new players, then maybe just reduce recoil across the board instead of trying to push a specific gun type. To be clear im not asking for this, i just think this is a better solution than forcing a meta.

I'm not gonna watch the entire video but SMGs and ARs don't need more aim-punch, Bolt Actions might need a tad more but nothing crazy. I remember when aim-punch was first buffed back when Karakin was introduced it made using Bolt Actions a lot less effective. They should at least be able to recouperate some of their power in making other people flinch more, I mean it's a large bullet with a lot of power behind it.

The whole idea of having more damage on an smg with much smaller caliber bullets and higher fire rate and easy recoil control especially the hip fire they have doesn’t make sense. The bigger the caliber of bullet the more aim punch and damage it should exceed to an extent ofc with armor applied. This is regardless of how close you are. If an smg can have boosted damage up close then why doesn’t any other weapon? There must be a balance there. Specially with AR being slightly more difficult to control recoil and hip fire spread it’s already at its disadvantage against smg in close range. What’s the point and adding more advantage to close range when it’s already over powered in that scenario for smg?

This all seems like a big “cart before the horse” situation. Is PUBG really seeing so many brand new players come and go to even be worried about making the game easier for them? Moreover, if you pick up PUBG for the first time over all the other games on the market it is likely because you want a more realistic and hardcore take on the BR genre so it seems stupid to think that making the game easier would help. Thats like Tarkov adding HUD elements to “help new players” when the people who are playing Tarkov literally signed up for the challenge and enjoy it.

Trying to change the meta for new players makes 0 sense. If there is an actual meta change to SMG's, experienced players will change and still own newer players. Not to mention, newer players are going to assume assault rifles and other guns are the meta due to common sense. IDK, it already feels like newer players benefit from whatever RNG the game already has.

On the other hand, everybody has their favorite weapon, and nobody is going to be happy with changes that buff another gun especially when it's the most under-utilized gun that's getting buffed. It's usually overblown justifications by the community because Dragonov DID NOT break the game like most streamers claimed it would. People barely even use the gun.

Hmm, so I'm all for diversifying the usage of SMGs and not just trying to say "smgs are for low skill players". I really don't mind some of the prev updates to make them plain better at run-and-gun gameplay... But jeez the aim-punch update for SMGs makes no sense. - SMGs are not supposed to be an ideal gun for long range, while aim punch is more and more effective the further you are (ie similar movements of the screen translate to much further distance from aiming at the target at distance, and smaller target makes it harder to move your aim back on target) - SMGs typically have the highest rate of fire and the lowest recoil, so they're already likely hitting multiple aim punches in a row, they don't need to stack even more with high base aim punch - I don't think you should be able to 'suppress' an opponent that's far away by landing the random smg shots and making their aim flinch like crazy, the suppression should just come in as not wanting to take the damage I don't know if they're trying to make the SMG aim punch really high because at close range you need really high punch to bump a target's aim off of you, but that shouldn't be the point of getting up close with an smg... It should be so you can run around and use the smg speed and flexibility.

i dont see aim punch as a bad feature. it forces you to take cover and not continue to engage. think it will make combat more interesting

If anything, it will make combat worse, because it will force people to camp more and push less.

@@nomicnevermic not necessarily, you can still get shot camping. It will just encourage people to use cover more, and not spam E and Q in the middle of the open

I like the change, what i see is the games are becoming more REALISTIC, no one who is aiming down site and get shot will still be on target. Majority of people would drop ads all together but it's still a video game so this aiming punch is good. I hate shooting people with bolty and since it wasnt a headshot they can still knock me because I'm charging my next round.
