Just a suggestion, your illumination could improve a lot installing a soft light on the back wall aiming to you and your guests. That will provide a sense of depth and will avoid the impression of stickers.

Wow, this video was such a treat to watch. I've had the chance to talk with Brian a few times at a few MWAF's and he just oozes speaker knowledge and loves to talk about all the cool stuff they've designed and come up with. I love watching documentaries and this was a little like a speaker design documentary. I loved hearing about all the design features the new Signature series incorporated. This is one of the best 40 minutes I've ever enjoyed on KZbin. Thanks Mr. Toid for posting this interview!

I loved it as well. Funny story, I went up the next day and told Brien it didn’t record just as a joke. He’s like oh let’s record it again. He was so excited to just talk about speakers. And honestly, I really enjoyed talking with him. He has so much knowledge I could’ve talked to him the entire day and then some. It was so neat getting that behind the scenes knowledge that you just never seem to get.

If the Marc Anthony quote "if you do what you love. You'll never work a day in your life" were a person. It would be this guy. He's amazing! Please more of him. I want a full on three way design with these drivers. One or two 8" or even the 10" as bass driver, the smaller onew for mids and something like the tekton tweeter or an amt. I hope some designer can make that happen so I can copy it. I love the look and price to performance of these

i still have 4 8" RS225-8 drivers laying around for making two bass boxes. i think i will go to make a sealed box with minimum 57 liters, probably more in the area of 75 liters to have a softer roll off and less loud resonance at the low end, applying the golden ratio from width to depth to height or something like that and put two horizontal boards inside with 4 rectangles cut out to improve the stiffness of the box. and apply them also in odd ratios in relation to the height to not induce standing waves inside. at the front the box should have rounded edges left and right. these drivers can go up very high but i want to pair them with a two way box standing on top. i have to take the distance of the mid woofer and the two bass woofers into account to not create phase issues if the x-over frequency is too high and the distance of the lower woofer and mid woofer is too long. i think the only weakness of the RS225-8 woofers are their mechanical/electrical losses which i want to compensate by not using a passive crossover but using a directly connected class-d amp with the two channel TPA3255 and using an active crossover. that should result in a very high damping factor and drive the rs225 very well.

Great video! Always a big learning curve with this channel!! I do have a question wich is about something completely different. I am making plans for a 2way floorstanding with the typical, tweeter, midrange and two woofer per speaker. They are all the same impedance (6 ohms and all close to 89 db/1 watts). My question: is it better to connect the woofers paralel or in serie? My amp is pretty stable to 2 ohms but I want the load on my amp to be as light as possible while keeping the bass tight. I generally listen at 75- 85db, very rare for me going louder. Sorry for the long question, thanks in advance!

Nice, I got a two-way in the works using the 6.5" signature and the rs28 fabric tweeter. Though the driver measures surprisingly different to the published specs, the FS and QMS was higher than expected, so maybe the suspension needs some time to break in. I was also thinking of using them in a closed transmission line given the high FS. it has significantly lower cone breakup compared to the RS180 drivers.

That’s the exact issue that I’m refer to in this video. It all depends on what you are measuring. One of the many reasons I appreciate the Omnimic.
@Artcore103
@Artcore103 Жыл бұрын
@@Toid yes I understand, but it seemed like you could give me the simple straight answer... I'm trying to measure frequency response (not distortion or waterfall or phase)... Which track should I use? And by that I mean, I assume, it's one of the 128 256 512 k options etc, with the sine sweep. And how critical is the playback level, or does it only matter to take the measurement at approximately my desired listening volume (enough to make noise floor irrelevant, say 75-85db)? I have the umik-1 btw. Seemed the best quality/price when I made the purchase, better than the umm6, but I was unaware of the omnimic. Sound source for the PC (my only source) is the Khadas tone board DAC.

@@Artcore103 I’m sorry you felt that way. But honestly I’m probably not the right person to ask since I haven’t used rew in about four years. So I don’t really know the interface and/or settings that you would want to check anymore. But as a generality you want a quick response.

@@Toid thanks. Love the channel. I plan to build something similar to your most recent klipsch-esque speakers with the textreme and horns, but I'm going to use my jbl 2225h 15" drivers, and another 15 or 18 eventually to supplement the low bass, as subs built into the mains - mainly for sensitivity and extension down low, to ~20hz, but all passive, with a 400+wpc amplifier. But the cabinets will be partially modular or at least able to be modified because I'll start with just my 2225h 15s, tuned to roughly 30hz. Not afraid of DSP correction. I'm already using these woofers in my current 3 ways, which have a JVC ribbon tweeter above 8-10khz, and an akai phenolic horn mid... But it can't cross low enough, is low power handling, and nothing about the speaker or driver/crossover implementation is ideal. Sounds good anyway with EQ, but obviously not nearly as good as what they could be with a design like yours. The 2225h itself is awesome, but it's crossing near 1.6khz, but they're in big ported boxes and I do get a solid 30hz.
