That's a REALLY good circuit board. The fact that the Traces are curved, instead of Straight Lines with Right Angles is a detail that most people won't even notice, or understand. But Curved Angles provides a better path for Electrons, and benefits sound quality.

What a pleasure it is to actually see a frequency response graph instead of the usual mysteries adjectives - airy, smooth, 3D etc. Incidentally my 80 year old ears need hefty treble boost to sound right so these babies might be just right for me.

Very cool build! Really nice that people have these options. Of course, you need to have thousands of dollars in woodworking tools. What the budget on that?
@Toid3 күн бұрын
@@MrRonnmaui you really don’t. The only two tools you really need for a build like this would be a jigsaw and a circular saw. You could do it with just a jigsaw or a router. Especially if you use someone like Home Depot to cut the wood down for you. Then all you have to do is make a few holes. But if you have good woodworking equipment you might as well use it. 😁

I love the compact Dayton Epique subs, but as midwoofers, their performance is pretty weak based on my own personal experience with them. One of Dayton's best full-range drivers, the one with the copper phase plug in particular, comes to mind, would have been a fine addition the the loudspeaker. It is a FAR better choice for reproducing the critical midrange frequencies.

I'm not surprised that you're backed up. I was too, until I took some Miralax last night... Oh, wait, wrong context... 🤣 In all seriousness, today is the first day we've really been able to relax since we got back from CES. I can only imagine how swamped you've been, having to make videos on top of everything else. The reason that I mentioned it is because I've seen a few people asking for screen reviews, and I wanted you to know that you could feel free to contact us if you ever decided to do such a video. We plan on making a DIY spandex screen. We will throw up a temporary one probably within the next week, then make a permanent one that is supported by gas shocks. I've let my son design it. He's the smart one who loves this type of stuff. He considered becoming an engineer when he was younger!

To have engineered a prototype LT lens in this amount of time in response to feedback often provided by people like me against videos or forum posts alone - that's truly an impressive feat. Most companies hate listening to customers or potential customers. Valerion have now backed this with demonstrated action. The retail cost really does need to not be 4k USD though. It needs to be within spitting dIstance of where the 5050UB was - my current daily driver. In our case down under the 4K USD to AUD price conversion is brutal...

Valerion have amazing engineers but worst when it comes to shipping, they are one of most biased companies I have ever seen, imagine some backers including me in first 800 list yet to even receive shipping notification, they ignored discount promise also for the addon. They only care about US/Canada customers, they don't care about rest.

for bookshelf speakers, 3 way with concentric midrange/tweeter is what i like!

I do not see how a backwards facing tweeter can improve soundstage, the reflections will muddle the signal.
@engjds6 күн бұрын
If you are spending 5 grand on a speaker, you would expect £1000 at least on driver costs, take the Jamo C8 from the 1990's, the seas driver in that still costs £400, so 800 then you have 300 for each tweeter, so 1400 just for drivers for a speaker back then that cost 3000.

10dB up in the HF?? To me that sounds like the designer has no idea what he is doing. Sure, it can probably be fixed, it looks like a number of people have done just that. Why is it still on the market like that? To me that makes it, out of the box, unusable. Even a 3dB peak would be noticeable but 10dB that is quite frankly just crap.

Then I got another email from their support & now they said it is not 2 ohm stable...well, it's still getting 2 ohms when it gets here, because their website still says it is, and my 2-ohm speakers are impatiently waiting for an amp. what do you think? Have you tried yours on 2 ohm loads?

If I’m using a driver that’s not intended (or rather spec’d) for a ported enclosure should I use the recommended sealed enclosure size? I haven’t tried modeling this but I’m planning a build for a shallow 10”, specifically a Hertz Cento. It’ll be in the storage compartment behind my third row so I’m limited for enclosure size but I can build it to about .75 cubic foot, .76 is the max recommended enclosure spec’d by Hertz.
