For transporting pals you want move speed passives as well instead of work speed passives. The normal vanwyrm is a great transport pal since its base movement speed is high. The fastest is mimog but youll need quite a lot of books to make him better. For short distance reach is better but for longer distance I believe speed is better ie multiple floors. I personally want small pals for my base so i dont have long snakes getting stuck on stuff they shouldnt be on.

Bigger pal = "faster" lmfao 🤣

Wow, I had no idea alpha pals were faster for base work. Does it affect other work or just transporting because the the pal hit box size?

Just transporting as far as I'm aware!

I'm going to push back on your generalist Knocklem. First, having a pal with more than one work suitability, even level 5, will result in a net loss in productivity as the pal will move back and forth between tasks increasing downtime for travel. Second, specifically for transporting, increasing pal work speed *will not* increase transporting effectiveness so running Craft/Art/WS/Se is a loss to transporting productivity; you want movement speed passives not work speed, even if they only benefit from them transiting between jobs. You could argue that you can breed up multiple types of knocklem, but then you miss out on the proposed advantage of a generalist pal choice. An Alpha pal does have more "Reach" as demonstrated by Trops, however smart base design shouldn't have storage containers so far removed from production sites that it would make a difference; wireless crafting means you can put a chest directly adjacent to every production site without downside. Third, even if you sleep through the night non-nocturnal pals will transit back and forth to bed and do a "wake up" animation in the morning. Nocturnal pals however will not go to bed meaning that minimum you gain transit time, and best case you gain at minimum an additional 20% uptime (from not sleeping at all). I strongly suggest you test in game as the margin reaches or exceeds 10%. this makes Astegon the best pal for mining. Lastly, Incredible work farming all of those books, last I checked, they were a 0.1% drop rate from rate-limited chests meaning you must have spent over 1000 hours of dedicated farming in Feybreak to pick up 5 of each to show us. That being said, making recommendations of needing multiple books to players who have less than 500 hours of total time in game seems pretty unhelpful. Especially since a good breeding base can turn out perfectly serviceable WS5 pals at a rate of about 1 per hour.

I'm going to push back on your pushback on my generalist Knocklem by referring you to 4:00 in the video. Doing that will completely negate the "having a pal with more than one work suitability, even level 5, will result in a net loss in productivity as the pal will move back and forth between tasks increasing downtime for travel." comment. For the books I believe I mentioned that it does take a while to get them and it's for the very endgame of Palworld but still worth mentioning for people at that endgame. I have several other videos going over just "general" best pals to have in your base etc where I don't mention books at all because books start complicating things and 99% of people won't farm for the books. I definitely hope they make the books easier to obtain in a later patch as their current droprate is ridicilously low.. They shouldn't make it super easy to obtain but like 1 or 2 books per hour or something when target-farming wouldn't be bad imo

@@SolheimGaming With this update the dev team has switched design philosophy to a "low drop rates to make them play longer" mindset. I'm sure in time they will increase the drop rates (they did for the weapons on the SJ oil rig) but in the meantime I don't think they are something we are meant to be "chasing".
