I was born Able-bodied but I was a victim of a very violent crime that paralyzed my diaphragm 13 years ago and I would do anything I could to have a normal life again, no chronic pain, no breathing difficulties, no vomiting everyday, no painkiller addiction, no waking up screaming in the middle of the night, no depression or crushing anxiety, no stress induced seizures and yet here I see people with everything to gain behaving as though they want to have more hurdles in their lives. This makes me sick, angry, disgusted and overall just fills me with hate for them. Is this a joke to them?

A year and a half ago my healthy 25 years old sister decided she was disabled and insisted she needed a colostomy bag, a shower chair, a cane, and heart surgery. When we finally got her to a psychiatrist, she was diagnosed with schizophrenia. Nobody in their right minds *chooses* to be disabled and it's a huge slap in the face to all the people struggling with very real disabilities when someone completely healthy and fully mobile decides they don't want to be healthy and mobile.

Exactly! The romanticization of disabilities is fucking belittling for those that actually suffer from them. You don't have it until you do. You can't undo it once it has been done. You're making a mockery of people that had no say in it- especially that wheelchair girl. She made me sick. I wish I could give the disorders of myself, my friends, and members of my family who struggle disorder, disability, and/or disease every minute of every day to the people that crave it to see how they like the pills and the pain that come with it. Some people can't afford the treatment they need and are forced into a state that allows their suffering to fester. Several of my good friends have been in this situation since birth. It is a privilege to lack such burdens. There is barely any of the pity the ignorant crave. I'd give it all to them. I hate it. I just want to see my loved ones happy man.

Hi, I have Autism and Scizophrenia and I have a rhetorical but fully responsive question: Did I get to choose to be Autistic? No, of course I didn't. Being transgender is one thing and that is totally fine. Being transable is insulting to people who have disabilities and those people need professional help. This is not the first time the online community has seen people like this either. These people seriously need to be held accountable. It's fine to have a disability. It's fine to advocate and support research and awareness for a disability. IT IS NOT OK TO PRETEND TO HAVE A DISABILITY OR MOCK SOMEONE WHO IS DISABLED. (Sorry for the caps.)

My mom was ablebodied with only ever needing to use walker/cane/wheel chair/crutches when she got her surgery, was recovering from it and when her knees were killing her (she had BAD arthritis in her knees and the result was pain so severe she would, at times, collapse as her knees would just.. give out). My mom HATED using wheel chairs. Not because she didn't want people seeing her in them or whatever but because she could, otherwise, walk. She didn't need to use them all the time but when she did? she felt awful cus someone else might come along who REALLY needs it. She'd always try to rush through shopping just so she wouldn't need to use it too long. The fact people are saying they identify as paraplegic or the like is DISGUSTING. The people who actually are will NEVER be able to get up from their wheel chair, some will never be able to speak or live a truly normal life because of it. And you're over here pretending to be like them and instead actually making fun of them because YOU unlike them can get up and walk around still?? My mom and i use to make a joke about the people who came in walkin all fine and dandy who'd steel the wheelchairs or scooters at Walmart - that it was out of sheer laziness. I like to think these people are using the "I identify as X so you have to respect it!" as a way to just be lazy and not have to do anything.

I was born with several physical and mental disabilities like autism and hip dysplasia and people like this are disgusting. I’ve had to live in a body that is equivalent to someone who’s middle aged and I’m not even twenty yet. People who want to be disabled and try to actively disable themselves need to be sent to a psychiatric facility and get treatment. Like it’s painful having to live like I do. I cannot run, I normally feel pain in random places at random moments it’s rare for me to be pain free, and I’ve had to have multiple surgeries just to temporarily fix my hips and avoid constant pain from using my legs. “Trans-abled” people make me feel like my life is a joke and all the crap I’ve had to deal with to be able to be as normal as my conditions let me be was pretty much a waste of time, money, and pain.

I've worked with disabled clients professionally before, and they just want to live as so called 'normal' as possible, I've had so many clients comment on that I just treat them normally and it baffles me as why wouldn't I? You're a human being worthy of dignity and respect. You can make small adjustments to account for their disability, without treating them like a helpless infant. My little sister is Autistic too and she always hated how people treated her like an idiot just because she's Autistic, I always told her, Autistic people aren't stupid, they just process certain things a little differentlyto neurotypical people. It's not hard to treat people properly, does my head in when people behave like that... and idiots like people playing 'dress up' with disabilities reinforces negative, toxic stereotypes and behaviours towards disabled people.

A client of mine this morning confided in me that he's seeing a therapist, his biggest frustration in his day to day life is that people talk to his parents/caregivers for questions rather than him, because they assume he's mentally handicapped because he's in a wheelchair, he's not. And the reason he appreciates me so much is because I treat him like a friend and joke around with him. Makes him feel normal for a moment. I treat all my clients as normal adults, as equals, and especially the non-verbal clients seem to really appreciate that

@@Nvggs I'm saying if you subsidize behavior you get more of it, and federal/state programs can't discriminate between people who need help and people who don't. Private charities don't have to go off abstract qualifications and can evaluate case by case. That would actually get MORE help to those who NEED it since we wouldn't, for example, give $400/month in good stamps to families who have two parents working and go on vacations every year, but have low enough income to qualify, and can instead go to the family who was single income and just lost their job due to COVID lockdowns short term while they get a new job, even though their previous income was to high to qualify. Likewise, people who are ACTUALLY unable to provide for themselves can get more help and those who CAN work and CHOOSE not to because they qualify for disability can be incentivized to be productive to whatever capacity they have. I'm not saying "pull the rug out and leave the most needy to rot", no. I'm saying "current system is broken and abused, let's change it so it gets more of what we want where we want it and pushes out leeches and opportunists".

When I was a child I sat in a wheelchair and started playing in it. My mother came after me and scolded me for how disrespectful I was being to those who did not have perfectly good legs like mine. She was right and I never did it again. When I was pregnant my doctor specifically told me to use a motorized cart at the grocery store if I needed to go because I had eclampsia and I didn’t have anyone to get my groceries. It was so hard to get myself to do it, probably used them 3 or 4 times because I was too tired and swollen not to. These people need metal health care.

These people are disgusting. They are an absolute slap to the face for people who are truly disabled, faced so many difficulties in life, and would not wish their hardships on anyone. I took care of 3 quadriplegic men and one hemiplegic man. I have friends who are deaf, autistic, and paraplegic. The challenges these people deal with are not a joke. I've seen them on their dark days when they just wanted to throw in the towel. I've seen them in extreme pain, with scoliosis and tissue dying and breaking down. I've seen meltdowns from painful, scary sensory overload. I've seen the frustration in their eyes when they couldn't communicate what was in their mind. I've seen small things become a half-day, very inconvenient, very difficult ordeal. The people in this video are seeking either attention or disability benefits (or both), and in so doing, they are STEALING from people who truly NEED care and accommodation because of something they could NOT control. From the bottom of my heart, SHAME on them. Absolute, total, and complete shame on them.

I’ve been disabled since birth. I have a TBI (traumatic brain injury) and am in a wheelchair permanently. I suffer extreme pain daily and have my whole life. I suffer from cognitive delays and processing issues. I can’t feel hunger or many other sensations. If someone wants to identify as trans-abled…I think that is beyond insane. But if they do I think they need to experience it all…pain, discomfort, loss, discrimination. You don’t get to pretend to be in a wheelchair and not have to suffer the skin conditions, sores and pain that many of us who live in a wheelchair have. Why would anyone want that? I don’t get it. It’s no fun not being able to go wherever you want. It’s not fun to have to be strapped to an aisle chair and lifted onto an airplane. It’s not fun trying to figure out how to get to places…trying to arrange transport.

I have to agree, this so far beyond offensive. I am disabled. I am a paraplegic & rely on a wheelchair to be able to get around. I can't stand, & I can't move my legs. Some of the things I loved doing before I lost the use of my legs, I can't do anymore. No one should entertain these people. Trans-abled shouldn't even be a term. The only place these people should be is in a Mental Hospital on Psychiatric Medication. I have No sympathy for these people. These people should give the equipment they have to someone who really needs it. Being disabled isn't fun, it's a giant pain in the arse. These people may as well slap disabled people in the face. I struggle to get the equipment I need. Some equipment is very expensive. People would die if they knew how expensive things like electric wheelchairs are. Some are more expensive than a new car. My manual wheelchair cost about $6,500. There are many disabled people that would happily go to work if they had the right equipment, but they don't so they can't. This is me. I will never be able to work full time because of my disability & my chronic health problems, but my life would have some sort of purpose. The NDIS is always knocking back equipment that Occupational Therapists have applied for for their clients. A person who has never met you or talked to you are making decisions about your life. You can't get that missed time back. Or they complain about cost & try to force you to take a piece of equipment that is cheaper but not 100% suitable. Living on benefits you have a hard time surviving. Nothing is left over to be able to buy equipment. Things I need but can't afford: A modified car - car + modifications costs about $100,000; a levo C3 standing electric wheelchair how I need it set up will cost about $63,000; A house set up so I can be as independent as possible - If I can do something myself I want to do it myself. I don't want to have people in to help me if I can do it myself with the right equipment. There are a number of other things but this list would be too long. These people don't understand what it is truly like to be disabled. It's expensive & things take longer to do than for non-disabled people. No normal person would choose to be disabled. What these people are doing is detestable & selfish, & personally makes me very angry. 😡😡😡😡.

I work with people who are developmentally disabled from birth, suffer from various diseases, or are functionally disabled after an accident. Even looking at them makes me feel sad and I suffer for them in my mind, I try to support them as much as I can, by helping, talking and caring. I myself suffer from nerve pain almost non-stop every day, and I really wouldn't wish this even on my enemy, shocking if someone wants to suffer. I would like to mention that because I suffer from a rare nerve pain problem, I have suffered from the fact that doctors do not take it seriously, and so far I have not received painkillers that work, instead they prefer to treat the problems caused by the disease, depression and insomnia. Such people who pretend to be sick, want to be sick or who abuse painkillers have ruined the chance of the really sick to get proper treatment. I am very upset that some people actually wish they were suffering from some problem.

...This is hard to believe. These people might just be some of the most detestable lot I've had the misfortune to find out about. No matter the disability or the number of them, being disabled is not fun or anything. I can't comprehend how anyone would want to be. I don't think I get to complain that much, but maybe that's the lingering after-effects of 10-11 years of severe mental/emotional bullying and being treated as some aberration of a cripple that shouldn't exist speaking. I have Autism, Hypersensitivity, Epilepsy, Todd's Paresis, Psoriasis, I.B.S. and Narcolepsy. There's severe myopia and hearing issues but I think they're a bit irrelevant here. I had to be extensively taught from 2 years old for 5 years on verbal communication and until 7 was only able to communicate by repeating the last word I heard. It took even longer to be able to be verbal at all. I'll need assisted living for life and I've been deemed unable to work full stop by the British government much to my chagrin, no surprise I feel useless at times. Aforementioned treatment for my conditions/disabilities all but erased any self-worth, and my inability to properly express myself verbally or emotionally convinced me that there was something inherently wrong with me. Cue putting my health/wellbeing at risk due to being willing to 'break' myself so to say for what I liked - be that my art or the rare person who treated me like a person and/or tried to understand me (the latter being the one thing I want most). Being unable to comprehend people or emotion along with the other stuff meant I would often punch myself as hard as possible and thought nothing of it. It has become better since then but I'd love to be able to do things without the constant inevitability of a sleep attack (including while biking) or resting without potentially becoming a literal statue while fully aware, and don't get me started on the seizures. Sorry for waffling by the way. Anyway, at this point calling what these people are doing an insult is an understatement, it's pretty much a mockery. Why must they exist?
