Brent here, Game 1 I remember now that my sequencing was poor from the Temple because I was definitely cutting corners on checking what Pokemon I had left. Even after searching the deck I should have noted that Cleffa was still prized and going for Cleffa draw off the Teal Mask Ogerpon ex to bench before replacing Stadium was not possible. Not a major play at all but just wanted to share what my thought process was and how being on a clock sometimes makes for some suboptimal decisions. Looking back, I think after Henry discarded the Bouffalant, I probably still made the right call because if I go for a Regidrago set up and pass, I would be in a worse position from just Quick Search for Boss and pass, setting up for stadium search or Bloodmoon Ursaluna ex out to win in the scenario if I take out Pidgeot ex.

Thanks for adding context Brent. I agree that it's a lot harder to play on stream. I feel like every time I watch my games back I made numerous misplays lol. I think no matter what you were in a losing position here, and the attack plus pray he whiffs was probably the best line

This is exactly the type of content that's missing from ptcg creators. It's not always easy to find time to watch / rewatch entire regional streams and most of it is relatively straight forward plays. So finding specific teaching moments like this and thoroughly breaking them down is super valuable and insightful. Bonus points for the included board sim too.

Thank you! I agree that this has been missing from the space and I've been meaning to make content like this for a long time. The reception has been super positive so I will keep making them!

This is top tier content. Would love to see more play analysis like this. Maybe breaking plays down by levels, i.e. Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Worlds?

In the second example I think Henry should not lock his bench if he not have night stretcher in hand and that was the case. Brent in other hand should predict he have stretcher, terapagos and of course Noctowl. So I think he should Iono. Because if he have that hand, the Boss don’t do much. Like the following plays: Stretcher for dusclops, pop dusclops on squak. Bench terapagos, Noctowl the active for Turo and Prime. Use Turo on noctowl to promote Terapagos now you can evolve the other hoot hoot for candy feather and search for DTE with Pidgeot. Bench the Hoot hoot who goes to hand, use prime catcher on squak to promote Pidgeot, retreat to Terapagos and KO for two prize lead. I don’t know if those pieces are in the deck (Turo/Prime/Feather), but I think there’s other lines. Just to remind I’m not shitting in the players, they’re amazing. I’m justing saying my view to give another perspective. Peace.
@iannogaflaАй бұрын
Just to complete. If he pull rotom with boss probably is better since that play could not be doable, Turo or switch the rotom is not so good. I still think iono should be played, Henry not having the stretcher in hand surprises me.
@CiaranTCGАй бұрын
If Henry has stretcher then he is pretty much forced to Dusclops and commit his Jewel Seeker to Rare Candy and Feather Ball. His turn still wouldn't be that powerful and would leave a Pidgey on the bench for Brent to still do Phantom Dive for 2 Prize Cards on. You need Area Zero as well if you want to KO Squawk, so I don't think you can KO it in your example.
@iannogaflaАй бұрын
@@CiaranTCG 50 dusclops +130 full bench (Terapagos, Rotom, Pidgey, Hoot, Noctowl and Pidgeot) u can kill squak. With stretcher, Noctowl and terapagos in hand you can search for five pieces: Turo, Prime, Candy, Feather and DTE. First Noctowl: Turo, Prime Second Noctowl: Feather and Candy Then Pidgeot: DTE Since you Turo u can replay hoot 🦉 so you have full bench. Yes he can KO pidgey and a hoot for 2 prizes. But that always can happen regardless you make the play I say it. Turo is because Brent pull hoot to the front with boss. So you can move and use Noctowl a second time with the same card.
@CiaranTCGАй бұрын
Ah that makes sense. I forgot the Dusclops damage. I guess my counter would be that if Brent KOs the Pidgeot you would be in a tricky spot. But that line does make a lot of sense!
