When I was a little boy 60 years ago well 57 years ago with an old time reel mower on bluegrass we used sheep shears to edge the grass. Yep you crawled along the grass on your hands and knees and used sheep shears. String trimmers were a game changer.

I have this. Used it for a whole season. I fitted to a RYOBI RY36ELTX33A-140 36V Brushless. It works well. However I do have a small issue where the bottom blade seems to push some of the grass blades out of the way -flattening them- before they can be cut. I live in Europe and have cold season grasses that are much more delicate, are not as firm and and don't spring back to be cut like warm season grasses i assume will. I've looked after the blades well, oiling and cleaning them after every use, so I don't think it's bluntness. It's one season of only cutting grass - nothing else. Something to think about if you are in the a similar position.

Got mine today. Put it on a new srm 230. I replaced a screw with a zerk. This was a godsend for rural ditches. I'd skip any 1/2" or larger sticks. It will chew through, but time is money. Didnt mark up my foundation, wooden fences. Only downfall is the cut grass falls in place meaning mower or blower guy will be a bit busier.

Does it damage the bark on trees like a string trimmer will. Edging sidewalks, putting in into the ground, dirt, etc. Any blade problems. Do they need to be constantly resharpened. Could you do small jobs on hedges? It’s basically a round hedge trimmer. What is cutting width. Will small woody underbrush be better cut with rotary blade. Good video! It’s time someone designed a weed trimmer designed to be attached to a riding mower. Maybe electric or battery powered.

I was contemplating buying one , but like yourself , I was not sure how it would perform right against a rough brick wall where the grass grows tall and where the mower will not go in . Could you do a demo where you connect with a vertical surface . My first thoughts are that the tool could be ruined . Would it be possible to add on a lower roller wheel to assist in an even height of cut . If a protruding distance guide could be fitted to keep this tool parallel to vertical surfaces it would mean you could , indeed go in. Your garden looks to have had a lot of TLC. Really neat and tidy . I cut at about two inches in Ireland .

I think you cat actually edge with the rotary scissors as well. They show it in the advertisements and I’ve seen others do it with great success. If that’s true I’ll grab one. If I would have to switch back and forth I’ll just stick to my line trimmer. Really want one of those though.
@reellowbermuda87864 жыл бұрын
You can edge with it, you just cant dig down into the dirt with it. I like a deep and wide edge. Not sure that is possible with only the rotary scissors.

Hey guys, 1st time watcher from Australia. I think the only method to successfully eradicate the common from the hybrid would be to carefully paint roundup onto the foliage of the common. Yes it is slow & painful but it is do-able & realistically those patches would only take 1/2hr so certainly not the end of the world. Anyway, loved the vid, now to watch more!

I would say that you can justify the cost with each use, because with this scissor trimming head you won't have to worry about the damage that a string trimmer can do ..also if your neighbors are like mine they appreciate a well manicured lawn and the nice comments will just flow in..even though this product won't completely stop the need for your string trimmer ..it does make it easier to cut in close to stairs ,rock walls, fencing and other such obstacles without catching a string on them and doing damage ..
