We need to keep Nas, Owens, Hugo Garcia,Stocker, Windy, Keeler, Byrnes and Arie are our core group with Mattaes as well but keep those players for our future

Losing Nazz would be a massive setback in terms of our rebuild. He's probably the most valuable of our younger players (those with 5 years or less in the AFL system) and he'll likely be one of those players our team is built around, when he hits his mid-late 20s (much like Sinclair now).

Nas deserves and Contract for 5 years on good money i would pay Nas 750,000 to 800,000 per year

One of the keys to holding on to Nasiah is club success. If we are “on the up” he would hopefully want to be a part of that - no guarantees but it helps.

Hunter future scares me. He's given most blood for club I've seen since Bakes, and so unlucky. I really still want him to be a one-club player who triumphs over the worst luck. I feel Hunter and Saints kind of fit each other and hope supporters still embrace him this year as the promising middy who has enormous upside if things go right for him.

Only you could spin a positive with a quarter of the list being out of contract. Me, I’d prefer a lot of those were signed to longer term deals

Shit it’s hard just to build, and keep a good list together let alone win a flag. Makes me wonder if we’ll ever get there. Sometimes it seems like Groundhog Day.

Its a worry if we dont resign out 1-4 year players. The elder statesman, who still form a key part of our side, will be checking out over the next few years.

Cordy, Jones, Howard, Max Hall, Webster, Ryan Byrnes, Stocker, Keller, Max Heath.. won't be playing for the Saints in 2026. Every one of them has already been replaced with our drafting, and the players we'll target in Free Agency next year. 2024 is the first year of keeping 'flexibility' in the list, simply for going hard at free agency (LDU). The 2021 list will nearly completely be turned over. Even Dan Butler will be nervous come end of next year, as will Hunter Clark. Tide is turning on all these players. No more passengers. As Grant Thomas would say 'Are we in the Premiership business'?

You are right there. It's apparent to me that actually only Arie, Hugo, Hastie, and Darcy plus this year's draft crop are Ross' recruits. I feel he's adopted Mattaes, Naz's talent is clear, but others I feel are vulnerable. I don't really want to turn-over a lot of the list and feel the fabric of current team is on the right track. Can go two ways of this driving standards to our benefit, or impacting on relationships and cohesion. I've liked the sense of cohesion 2023

Nas worries me, I just don't see why the club wouldn't have already offered him an extension, he has nothing to prove to us, I find it more likely that his management has held talks to see what offers come, There's also huge motivation for him to play in SA, he has a stand with his family name on it, stress levels are high
@mitchelltidball6944Күн бұрын
I think he goes unfortunately - hopefully we get decent compo
@julesdalli9716Күн бұрын
Definitely appeal on Naz's end to move closer to family in South Australia. Would be a massive blow if we lost him.
@dylancrosby689114 сағат бұрын
@mitchelltidball6944 if so, I hope so, but unfortunately no contract never attracts as much of a trade offer as a contracted player, What could theoretically save us there, is normally a player would threaten to walk to the draft if a deal not made, however I doubt either SA team would have a good enough pick to actually select him before a North Richmond or WC would, so that'd atleast force a real trade
@macherie127510 сағат бұрын
Windy I feel a bit concerned about. Not about how he plays or what he can provide, more the tagger role being selfless and less showy. Worries his stat's don't reflect his impact, and I think he could be a captain and serve the young boys without losing himself or his game with responsibilities added. Stocks I worry about similarly in relation to his service not being as recognised whilst he gives his all. Isaac Keller also a concern for me in 2025. Hoped a lot, but think we've changed his role significantly, and unsure why.

Clark owes the club. Bad run with injuries but he hasn’t delivered at all for pick 7
@macherie12759 сағат бұрын
I couldn't really think that way when he's been injured in service of the club (not by being irresponsible or stupid out of hours) and will wear the physical toll of serving Saints on his body for life. If we accept this is a sport where players are injured, why hate on them or blame them for being injured or behave like they disappoint us when being unable to play due to those injuries. This is bad luck all around, and no one benefits from Hunter being injured. I only hope we've done everything to look after him all these years, as that's our responsibility as a club.
