I think the whole thing about holding stocks for long term will always apply. So I think you should get a quality broker who is able to analyze and pick stocks that will do well in the long term, else you will be in a long bear ride.

In no order: 1) VOO 2) QQQM 3) SCHG/VUG 4) VTI 5) SCHD/DGRO. Personally I put down 1.2m$ on few ETFs, still diversifying. it was this time last year I made my first break through with a liquid 370k. Handed it to a trader here in TX, I get weekly pay out which I put back on long term ETF's. Tesla will be a huge buy for me when the market bottoms.

Thanks Guys!!! GPC earnings miss today was a BLARING alarm bell for the US economy and the value of DXY. It's even worse than it appears. In the event I'm correct I purchased some low strike calls of the various gold and uranium miners I currently hold and have sold covered calls on, creating an effective call spread on about a third of these positions. Unfortunately all the bad things I expected on the macro are coming true in spades.

Switch from a margin account to a cash account, this way you can sell anytime you need to without worry of the PDT rule preventing you from selling. Be disciplined, set your stop losses at 5% below your entry point.. if it stops out, that’s okay. It may seem like a loss but truly it’s a win because you followed the rules. A good day is only a good day when you did it the right way, it’s not about gaining money, it’s about the process. Focus on buying when it dips down and settles, when it hits a low, buy. Only buy when the only thing left to do is go up, be patient both when you buy and sell. And maybe you do this and you’re wrong the first few times, but that’s okay! Live to trade another day. After you stop out all your trades, go to paper trading for the rest of the day to gain more market experience. You don’t want to lose your whole account, I’ve done this. (-$5k) trying to hold a stock hoping it turns around. It’s toxic.
