I asked my dad if he had shoved the cake in my mom’s face when they married. He came back with “why would I do that to the woman I love?” My brother, when he got married, took a page out of our dad’s book and fed the cake to his new wife and didn’t shove it. Someone asked my brother why he didn’t shove it like everyone does, my brother’s response “she’s beautiful today, as she always is. Why would I incur her wrath?”. My BIL also didn’t do that to my sister and he was asked the same. His response “Her dad would come after me.”

There is a Redditt story from a bride who repeatedly told her fiancé that he must not smash her face in the cake. She had severe childhood traumas and knew this would be a huge artillery level trigger for her and told him this. So he did it anyway. She immediately walked out of the reception, got in her car and drove away and as soon as she could filed for an annulment. I hope the bride in this clip does the same.

I once watch an Indian wedding video that escalate quickly. It was an arrange marriage, bride and groom met at the altar. After the ceremony, they had a feed your spouse rituals. The bride was nervous and she wanted to enlighting the mood, so she smear the food a bit on his cheek. The groom's reaction was swift, he slapped her hard and pushed her. Hard like turn your head hard. The bride was shocked. Everyone was gasping, silence ensue. Suddenly a scream heard from afar. The bride's mother, sitting below the podium, marching up quickly, hiking her dress, screaming abuse toward the groom. She grabbed the shock bride, take the food (rice and chicken) and throw it to the groom, and dragged the bride down the podium. While still screaming abuse words. Another woman tried to intercep (the groom's mother) but the mother, with the rage of a thousand bulls, pushed the woman and continued marching off camera. Behind her, the bride's entourage followed belatedly. The video later explained that these 2 family are very wealthy and they want to joined their bussiness with this marriage. The bride's family sued the groom's family for the price of the wedding and wanted their dowry back.

While everyone laughed I immediately ran up to her and rushed her into the bride room and locked the door so the groom couldn't get in. I'm sorry, but that shouldn't be something you should even have to ask. I'm GenX... I married my wife 24 years ago. I never once considered putting cake near her face except for a forkful of it in her mouth (as she did me) Fuck TikTok and social media bullshit. Because I can't think of a single person I knew that even dreamed of doing this bullshit. (The fact you had to set it as a boundary is astounding to me -- but glad you found someone with basic human decency). And keep in mind that I'm normally one who hates the idiotic "kids today" rhetoric, but this nonsense belongs entirely to Millennials and GenZ. Because I'm thinking back on people I saw married in my generation, and this wasn''t something anyone even considered or had to worry about. (And keep in mind that I know perfectly well the issues with my generation -- just that this stupid cake thing seems to be a by-product of "viral video" culture, which didn't exist when I got married. I'm pretty sure if it had, my generation would have been doing the same damn nonsense)

I was assisting a planner with a wedding that went south real fast: Both the groom and bride came from large families and they were going all out because this was the first white wedding on the groom's side. I don't remember a lot of it because I was running back and forth at the planner's request to make sure everything went off without a hitch. I finally got a minute to sit down and have a glass of soda as the cake cutting commenced. Then the room fell silent as the groom held up the first slice of cake and clumsily got his bride across the ear. And then a thunderous "AAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!" filled the room as his grandmother, his mother, all his aunties, her grandmother, her mother and all her aunties rose as one and threw their shoes at him. Not the flipflops, mind, but actual heeled shoes. This fool didn't duck in time as shoes were flying at him from all corners of the ballroom, some hitting the ground short of the stage, some bouncing off the stage, some landing in the cake (a few actually took out the cake), but a good few catching him in the arm and shoulders. Everyone was yelling, youths were ducking to avoid getting caught in the crossfire, and the staff were pressed against the walls like "shiiiiiit not getting paid to die today." I turned and asked the planner, "Should we do something?" and she just said, "We're on break. Finish your soda."

@@meinhartfrancois This is third or fourth-hand info, but the planner later told me that according to one of the groom's cousins, two of the groomsmen were his friends and had told him to do it ("it's not a white wedding if the bride doesn't get cake on her face"); the groom had been extra nervous so instead of getting it on her face he fumbled and smashed cake into her ear - he was lucky the night didn't end in emergency. Both sides were very traditional and in their eyes, the bride's family just watched this horrid young man assault their daughter, while the groom's family just watched their idiot son bring shame upon them all by assaulting a girl. So without needing to consult each other, all the shoes came off. It's stories like these that make me glad I got to assist at weddings, most days it's all perfectly boring, but others is a brilliant shitshow that you'll be telling for years to come.

A huge part missed in this assessment is the fact the "friend" who used the new lipstick did so as a power/control move. Dont tell me ur friends and dont have a feel for how ur friends r with certain things. She knew it would get under her skin and did so anyways and seemingly on an important day for the OP. Benefit of the doubt, if the user truly "didnt know," the natural response is surprise followed by an apology. Watch the clip back and you'll see neither of these emotions r expressed; that girl new what she was doing.

Look at the video, look at her legs struggling, she's clearly not laughing and joking around, she looks like she was being forcefully held down and attached while the husband smiled and laughed to the audience. If that was me on my wedding day my dad would have been between us in a second and knocking the husband out. How did no one step in? His face looks demonic smiling as he holds her down!

Helpful hint from an admittedly highly sensitive person: if a child says something about your appearance that hurts your feelings, it’s perfectly acceptable, to say “That hurt my feelings,” even if that child isn’t yours. Even the youngest of children understand what hurt feelings feel like and most will apologize. Then you’ve helped that child learn a good lesson. On the other hand, the kids who are being rude just for the sake of being rude, for them still say it but then just turn and walk away. Getting zero attention after being rude is a good lesson too! 😁

I’d say that last “cake smash” was richly deserved. Ruining some else’s cake for a TikTok is never okay. That being said, whether that wedding cake smash was approved by the bride or not, look at how she’s fighting it and he’s jerking her around. I guarantee she didn’t expect to be treated so roughly by her brand new husband, and him exalting over it like that is a whole cathedral’s worth of alarm bells.

You don't borrow something from someone, destroy it, then gaslight them about doing so, on top of throwing unnecessary shade at the person you wronged. Not everything is about money, even if it is about money, it's still someone else's stuff/money. You are 100% right, it's not just about the lipstick. It was the fact she gaslighted her and kept lying to her face about it. Most of us women love to share and we love to help other women out. I highly doubt she was upset over her using the lipstick. She was upset because she lied about destroying it. A 50.00 Charlotte Tilbury lipstick is a lot, I've never spent that much on lipstick and I make a decent wage but I'm still Frugal with my money. I thought that was so messed up. No matter how terrible your child's other parent is, you should never talk bad about them around your kids. The only exception is if the other parent is dangerous and you need to warn the kids to keep away from them.

If writing love notes is unhinged or immature I'll wear those labels with pride because me and my partner both write love notes and poetry for each other all the time and I think it's so romantic. My partner literally bought a notebook to write poetry about me and our time together during our courtship and it's one of my most meaningful possessions.

@taylerkolin3075 I think the bestie was mad because it was her friends boyfriend's cheating partner who wrote them, not because of love notes in general. Not to mention the boyfriend and og girlfriend also have kids together, and the boyfriend would bring them over to the cheating partner's house. I'm sure if you'd have found them, you wouldn't be excusing the love notes as cute, but rather a very elementary-level written symbol of betrayal. Because let's face it, those love notes are about as deep as a puddle. 😂

@@abbyletellier4474 I'm not excusing the cheaters love notes as cute. I was just making a joke about her saying that writing love notes specifically is an "immature" thing to do. I get it and agree that it's out of frustration and just to make fun of the person who, rightfully, deserves some shit. It was just a joke and a little anecdote.

I actually smashed cake in my own face at my wedding because my husband was the type to do that and I was worried he would do it too hard so I beat him to it. People were commenting and confused as to why I did it to myself. We're divorced now but in hind site, it's pretty messed up that I went into that marriage with such anxiety about him humiliating me constantly that I did it to myself to not get hurt so bad.

I’m not on board with cake smashes but this cake smash is particularly uncomfortable because he is so clearly over powering her. It’s not even a fair fight or light hearted. The commenter was right, if this was in different context, it would be assault. One day, I want to see a brother, father or male friend just put a stop to it. If this is how I feel as a stranger, the absolute RED I would see as a loved one, or parent!

13:05 Couples Counselors know that the 'cake smashing' stunt done at weddings show that the marriage is doomed already. this type of behavior is indicative of more issues and is a form of aggression that is unacceptable in a marriage. Additionally, SHE is being just as aggressive in trying to smash cake in his face, he's just stronger enough to prevent her from doing it. THEY BOTH are at fault here.

I feel real weird about the woman who was talking about her experience of the dude cheating and crap... There were kids in the background and hearing all of it so young is really hard and confusing.
