@JohnSmall3143 жыл бұрын
@@jrurbbehdidiwdnndjduw85eos73 "What do you mean demographic changes" Very simple concept. Demographic changes come about as old people die and young people reach maturity and replace them. The Brexit vote was mostly old people, but people born after roughly 1980 are 60:40 in favour of being in the EU, and for people born after 1990 it's 70:30. As the Brexit voting generation die off and the younger generation replaces them then support for Brexit is decreasing day by day. If the Brexit referendum had been delayed 5 years and were held today we'd stay in the EU. But, it has been said that as people get older they tend to vote conservative and that therefore as they get old they're more likely to come to support Brexit. There are three problems with that idea. 1) Brexit is not a conservative policy, it's the policy of a small group of radical anarchists who have taken over the conservative party. Dominic Cummings made the point quite clearly, 'we took over a party with only 10% of the vote'. It is no longer the Conservative Party, it's the Johnson Party. Margaret Thatcher fully supported being in the EU and thought creating the EU single market was one of her greatest achievements. Winston Churchill thought there should be a United States of Europe. Brexit is also anti-business, as businesses are finding out, and conservative party policy has traditional been supportive of businesses. 2) It assumes that people will eat a shit sandwich and accept that it is really a nice burger because the Party told them it is. As we see with the people in the video, they'll accept what the Party tells them to think because they're emotionally attached to the Party. But that doesn't apply to people not emotionally attached to the Party. As eating a shit sandwich is not a pleasant experience the number of new converts to the Party will decrease. Brexit is a disaster and that reduces the number of new converts to the Johnson Party (it's not really the Conservative Party) 3) In the past young people became conservative supporters as they got older and accumulated capital. But that's not happening any more. Student debt and house prices and private rental prices mean young people can't accumulate capital. So support for the Tories is at about 10% in people under 35. As time passes, 'demographic change', i.e. old people dying and a new generation replacing them, guarantee that the Johnson Party (previously known as the Conservative Party), will lose support and the UK will rejoin the EU.

@@RoadRashSpirit Was about a 67% total turnout , if even numbers a 75% turnout would make a huge difference in the voting trends, with more over 45 tending to vote tory, it would still significantly affect election results. @RoadRashSpirit3 жыл бұрын
@@paulgee1952 its hyperthetical without all of the voting figures for every age group and eleigble voter, I agree the election result would have looked different if an extra 25% of youth had turned out, but to actually swing it to labour there would have had to have been more over 40's turning out aswell. Even though I belive the majority of the youth vote went for Labour, there was still a good chunk that would have gone tory and lib dem. I'm pretty sure many of the non show youth voters would have gone tory due to immigration and work place attitudes. I really don't beleive there was much apathy in regards to youth Labour voters, momentum was a very stong movement. On the other hand there is definatley a lot of apathy now. The establishment and older population have made it abundantly clear they will not stand for social reform in this country, despite the fact that they have benefited from many reforms that came after WW2. The millenial generation will now be stuck biding there time given that there are no real options left to vote for. Labour are now another conservative party again, Lib dems dont represent the working class, leaving only the greens as a viable option. The greens are unlikeley to get in without forming a coalition. I'm here to represent the nihilist club (there isn't one for obvious reasons.), there is no want for the Tories here and no connection to them.
