Tiche is definitely my favorite summon. Not only can she attack enemies from up close and at range, but she’s almost untouchable with the way she flies around. The black knife assassins are also some of the coolest characters in the game imo, so being able to have one as an ally is awesome.

I just tried out various summons against Malenia from Oleg +9, ancient dragon knight kristoff +9, Oleg +9, Tiche +10, shield guys +10, mimic +10, all the city guard summons at +9 and bunches of others at +9. Of all those Tiche was far and away the one who could live the longest and does the most dmg. Actually the one the lasted the longest we’re the Great Shield soldiers. Even when she would jump in the air and do her crazy slash thing, they would just block it all. Tiche is nimble enough she just dances away. The mimic however would eat shit every time she did that move.

I’ve found that mimic tear loaded up with the Ruins greatsword and tree sentinel armour has still been a great tanking pal. He basically solo’d Godfrey and Margot and he’s only at +7

I tested pretty much all the summons in the game at +9 or +10. Here's what summons worked the best (Mimic excluded): - The tankiest summon(besides equipped mimic) seems to be Dragon Knight Kristoff. He's a monster tank, keeps aggro nicely, and deals decent damage, especially when he buffs his spear with lightning. He's basically Luthel, but with more aggro and more armor instead of that phase shift she does, which tends to make her lose aggro. - The best DPS for bosses that do not stagger is Black Knife Tiche, mainly because of that projectile attack and the fact that he can dodge some of the hits, so he can live through the fight. - For bosses that stagger use Omenkiller Rollo. He's the best bully by far, with lots of stagger and high poise, so he's hard to interrupt while hitting. He also applies bleed, which makes his dps quite strong. He's better than Tiche vs bosses that can stagger because he gives you lots of free hits on the bosses when he staggers them. With Rollo at +10 and Golden Vow buff, you can bully the living crap out of Malenia. - For arcane builds, Dung Eater Puppet works very well. He's fairly tanky and will reduce the resistance to status effects on foes, making it easier to apply your statuses. He also applies bleed. Honorable Mentions: - Stormhawk Deenh because he gives you a damage buff, which goes well with builds that rely on high burst damage. - Nightmaiden & Swordstress Puppets is strong for fights vs 3 or more opponents, like the triple Crystallian fight. - Greatshield Soldier Ashes is best for clearing mobs in those areas where summoning is allowed. They are very resilient and great at taunting mobs from you. An alternative for them can be the Mausoleum Soldiers, which deal a bit more damage but are a bit less resistant. You can compensate for that with the Golden Vow buff. - Rotten Stray Ashes is also a good summon if you want to apply Scarlet rot to tougher enemies. You can cheese this guy early on from Caelid. It'll make for a great companion through the early game until you get the stronger summons.

Thanks for the testing and summary! I've been using Dung Eater at +6 on my squishy spellblade/darkmoon greatsword build because he's so tanky and pulls aggro very well. Plan to get and build Tiche as well. For just straight aggro diversion and resilience, I've been using the Greatshield Soldier Ashes (as long as enemies don't have fire/AOE).

I'd say this heavily depends on your build and the boss you're fighting. If you''re running a dual seppuku bleed build mimic still takes the cake, especially when it pops seppuku as well, and proceeds to violate any bosses that aren't immune to bleed. Heck even if they're immune just slap on rivers of blood for that juicy ash of war.

@@vg4521 ya the flask can reduce the cost to 0. In some games u still need to meet the requirement of let's say 50 fp to cast it. So if you have 49 the other games wouldn't let you use it for free. This game will allow you to cast any spell even if u don't meet the requirement if you use that flask.

I still love my mimic lol. Black Knife Tiche’s advantage is that she moves around so quickly which can be good for avoiding attacks but bosses generally have crazy AoE attacks. She was a nightmare to defeat. Ended up spamming her with the star cry and follow up slam lol. She can’t move when she’s being pulled in by the gravitational pull. Killed her in 5 hits. Have her at +10 along with my mimic now 🙂

Yeah unfortunately both of these summons are kinda late game. You should be able to get tiche before Finley. You have to beat the assassin at the hero grave before going into Lindell and be able to go to ranni’s island

A word of advice when cheesing the black knife assassin. I used magma wyrm sword and the animation for that sword moves you around so much the assassin can pretty easily slip out. I then used the death's poker and it was easy because the animation for that weapon mostly has you stay stationary. That keeps the assassin pinned in. Good luck.

For the bos to get Tiche you can use a nice dagger with Flame of the Redmanes (reduvia or misericorde) and use the Assassin's Cerulean Dagger talisman. Redmane stuns Alecto with 2 casts and then crit him to get FP back, rinse and repeat, if you're extra scared used the Assassin's Crimson Dagger that restores HP on crits as well

I still like the Mimic (because with the proper amulets it will take far better aggro) and with a Faith based class using the occassional Erdtree Heal it will carry Legendary Spirit Ashes just fine through all phases of every boss fight. I took down Malenia using the nerfed Mimic quite easily just yesterday.

I actually got Tiche by standing on the rock to the left of Alecto and punishing her with Radahn's greatswords, alternating between using the weapon art and just slashing her. She moves around a lot more than your method, but she certainly doesn't like being hit with greatswords.

An low level alternative to cleanrot knight finlay is actually "rotten stray ashes". Its a low lever easier to kill summons for sure, but like the knight it wil give scarlet rot damage that last the whole fight and is cheap to summon on low level. Also pretty early game to find compared to finlay. Easy to miss this ugly dog, but great.

Idk Mimic is still being pretty OP for me and my build. I'm going arcane using Rot Breath, and Eleonora's Poleblade. It actually has helped me get the rot up multiple times and then when we both start using the L2 attacks we damn near stun lock a bunch of bosses. Mimic is build dependent but with the right build I would say it's still the best summon in the game.

I still love Mimic Tear with my Katana Night Mage. It’s depressing how much better at my character he is compared to me. But with a +9 Moonveil and +20 staff of loss, he holds aggro just fine and does some serious dmg. Allows me to get behind the boss and melt them down with endless mana flask and Comet Azur which I just picked up. Before then I’d just hop around throwing Night Comet or meteors to my hearts content. The trick with a mage build is to not attack right away and establish dominance. That taunt trinket works too but I don’t bother anymore. Also he loves shooting off breath weapons which really helps the fight. One tip I would suggest is restrict his spells whenever possible. Many boss fights you have a clear path between a grace and their door. Go back to the grace, rest to restock yourself and then reset your spells to just the ones you want him casting. Which are usually the same overpowered ones you want to cast in a boss fight anyway. If it’s a cave, set your spells ahead of time. He’s still really OP if you keep him from firing off random spells like Pebble in the middle of a boss fight. Just because you have 9 spells slots, doesn’t mean you have to fill them. He’s been so effect for me that I’ve been wearing the rune increase trinket all the time now because I can. Nothing wrong with these two ashes, they’re monsters from what I can tell (don’t own them yet) and I wasn’t around before the nerf as I just got the game. But if Mimic Tear is as OP now as he is, I can’t imagine how godly he was before. But these days I crush bosses and then get my ass handed to me by trash mobs. That’s my life now. Lol

I'd say, if you feel like he fights better than you, let him fight and try to emulate his fighting style. That and practice/familiarization should do you good. Also reccomend dragon gs talisman to give you some room to fight like them too

Tiche is the best hands down. I first tried most bosses after I got her. She even saved my ass in the dark cave before the grace to Mohg when I was completely out of mp. She cleared the whole area and it's full of zombies and blood cult dudes. She did the last hit on Milenia when she was just about to do the clone rush attack when I was right under her. I was dead, then that blade swooped from out of the screen. It was epic.

To sum up, headless is more flexible and work in all situation while tiche do better in some specific cases

If any mages want a slightly less cheesy way to kill Alecto, the spell Carian Piercer will stun Alecto with full charge. I found if you stand just out of Piercers range, when you start casting it, Alecto charges in, but the spell goes off and stuns him. I combined this with moonveil art, and this boss was easy. I was shocked when I got 80k souls because if felt more like a 5k enemy.

Mimic tear is still A+ depending on your build. It still uses your spells and if it has halfway decent armor on and a strong heal it can tank indefinitely. Tiche isn't great as a tank because her evasiveness causes bosses to swap targets back to you a lot. My plan is to level all three and Dung Eater so I can use whichever one of them feels more appropriate to the specific boss I'm trying to handle.

Mimic is good if your a melee build. I’m faith build and he randomly casts buffs right in front of bosses. Mimic has no idea he is a caster build and try’s to cast spells at melee range. So I went and got Teich. She is even worse. Got her to help me with Maliketh and she spent more time randomly dodging and slowly walking than actually fighting. 3 times she cast her spell way out of range the rest she just flat out misses. I was holding aggro most of the fight while she danced around behind him dodging his farts I guess. Went back with great shield squad and won on the 2nd try.

The skeleton army is really good . So underrated . Never spoken about. They live the whole fight. They need to be hit after they get down and the computer doesn’t seem to know that. And you can distract / move the computer away if they do down your army . Let your skeletons revive

Btw if you want tiche easily just use the "aspects of the crucible:horns" Dropped by the crucible knight in stormveil castle (you can easily find a video on how to get to him and cheese him) Just fully charge the incantation (i recommend using finger seal +12 but any other mid-late game seal will do) and that's all. She can't do anything bc her dodge isn't far enough and it knocks her into the air

Even with the debuff, my mimic does a metric ton of damage and has soloed bosses. My character is a Tankadin with nearly no attack magic so I wonder if that might be why though, in comparison to most players running magic/ dmg builds.

I had tried the method described here on Alecto in the last few days and didn't really find much joy with it. I'm not saying you cant still do it - just I didn't find the rhythm or what not for it. I ended up using the Nox Flowing Hammer to win the fight. Stood in the centre with a shield, dodged the ranged attacks and used the art when he came close. Took a little while but was pretty effective. Can't take credit for the idea it was on the wiki site so shout out to the various Anonymous who mentioned it.

Banished Knight Oleg is actually really good too. Absolute tank with tons of speed for his size.

Mimic Tear with Rivers of Blood is still very strong for me. I have it at +10 and it is a tank that can shred 15% of a great foe's life bar per hit.

I agree. I was using the Mimic Tear, but acquired Black Knife Tiche recently and maxed him to +10. I am not disappointed. Tiche and I took the fire giant on the second try. First time I discovered his roll mechanic, but almost won.

It varies for me. Mimic is great for some bosses, but not all. Same with tiche. God devouring serpent destroyed my tiche at lvl 9. But I then used the mimic tear with the serpent sword you get right at the start of that fight. Game over serpent. My archer summons are pretty good too. I can't remember their names, but the sleeping arrow archer and the sharp shooter archer. It all depends on the boss you're fighting

IMO, the mimic tear is still the best. I've used the BKT and for the major bosses, seems to get slapped up by some of the main bosses in the game.

Yep I can't use the mimic since I'm a mage build it literally can't hold aggro and sometimes it just stand there and does nothing the headless knight is my go to summon untill I get the assassin summon in the moonlit alter

It depends on your build. If you're using a caster build, the mimic barely casts spells now, making it a minor annoyance to draw aggro at best.

I use Oleg and Latenna a lot. Oleg is surprisingly fast for someone dual wielding greatswords, and Latenna is great at whittling down bosses HP with her long range homing arrows. You have to keep enemies off her though as she goes down pretty easily.

I recommend using the wing of astel curved sword for the elden beast. This helped me kill it. I also just used the mimic, it still soaks up a good amount of damage

If you're really stuck on the final boss even with using any of these summons (Tiche/Mimic/Etc...) you really should be changing your gear. For the final boss you want as much holy dmg reduction as possible. Get the Haligdrake +2 talisman, and you can even equip physical and magic negating talismans for safe measure. Makes the fight much easier.

I personally perfere the Crystalian, he is beefy and is good agenst most bosses, the only problem is that he isnt doing a lot of damage, and gets hir realy hard by enemies that deal blunt damage. Also, you can get him right at the start, just run over to the church of Rot, find the cave behind the cemetary, run in there and loot it from a chest guarded by 3 sorcerers. Usefull right from the getgo all the way untill the end. Or untill you get the top tier legendary summons that will trade it out.

The Greatshield summons are favorable. Easy to get and at max lvl they can tank most things long enough for me to kill it.

summons depend on your build now. mimic is still the best choice for bleed builds. Tiche is the best choice for magic users. the reason mimic sucks on mage is because mage builds are soft and the nerf on mimic where it won't spam skills anymore.

I know this is just my opinion. But my mage uses the greatshields. There's like 6 of them and they stay alive long enough for me to finish whatever. It's how I beat the final bosses

The Wolves had my back. They interrupt attacks, its more then 1. So bosses tend to aggro with them. Mimic is cool too. My summons are only at lvl4 i need the 5th plant to find.

If you kill that big Tentacle face guy he ran past it drops a Larval Tear (the stat respec item). Be wary though, he can inflict death blight rather fast and kill you instantly. Edit: Since he didn't mention it, I'll add it here. The Cerulean Hidden Tear only lasts for 10sec in your Mixed Physic, so if you pop it get to casting or summoning quick

While I do like Tiche and Finlay for their respective kits, I still find Luhtel the Headless to be incredible as well. Good damage, decent range, INCREDIBLY tanky and has the ability to phase away from enemies to dodge hits. Also really easy to get him early game and his FP cost is only 106.

I prefer Oleg instead of Luhtel , because while I was using Luhtel I found that it doesnt stay in melee range as much as I'd like it to, since I'm a Spellblade , I need it to tank and draw aggro but Lhutel stays pretty far back most of the time , I end up having to tank FOR Luhtel instead. Hence I switched to oleg since he's more of a melee fighter he can do dmg and he can also tank and draw aggro pretty well.

Lhutel is a good endurance summon, because that shield keeps her alive really well. The only downside is that she doesn't really keep aggro very well as other summons.

Yeah, that is how I got Tiche too. It was pure accident I pinned the boss in the rock corner and hammered her with the good ol' reliable Bloodfang curved great sword.

I personally like azula beastman summon 2 summons that are strong and can really help each other out. Plus these duo boss fights they’ve been clutching it up for me. Even used them on the accident dragons with the 4 wings and as long as u keep pressure with them it’s fun.

I used the Prelates Inferno Crozier on Black Knife Tiche. The flames keep him stunned. I just spammed Prelates Charge once I got him in that corner.

For tiche stand on that raised rock and have her be in the spot shown, using the meteoric ore katana just spam the skill and if she starts to leave it will suck her back in to place no problem, she will even get stunned for a quick crit and jump back up in place and use the black hole all over again

I have found Banished Knight Engvall to be the best summons. Lhutel can possibly do more damage, but she disappears when you need her most, so Engvall has been taking down most of my bosses while I use dragon rot breath to melt their health from afar.

I got tiche stuck in that corner 2 seperate times but he kept rolling out. If you are having trouble getting that method to work an alternative cheese is just to spam him with Radahn's weapon effect starcaller cry. The pull in interrupts him, and the smash knocks him down. If you get the timing right you can completely stun lock him with it. That's how I ended up defeating him

The crystalian summon can easily tank literally everything except strike damage (8 damage from a sanguine noble's heavy attack in mohg's palace at level +0) And you can get him without killing any bosses and without going to endgame location (he is in caelid if you're interested, just watch a video on how to get hin) And the best part is he doesn't crack bringing his defense to 0 like the boss version

I’ve been able to get bosses in 1 go consistently every time I have Tiche by my side. Granted, I’m a filthy mage with a fully upgraded Moonveil and unlimited FP, but still impressive that I was able to get Malenia on my first go with her.

I am using a +9 Mimic Tear and it sill feels kinda cheap even after the nerf. I barely have to do anything with most bosses except jump in and get a couple hits to draw a little aggro. Both the main bosses in Lyndell were wrecked pretty quick and easy. Rykard was tough, though, until I realized what the spear did (duh). I really love the addition of the summons for this game. It makes it much less frustrating for a solo scrub like me, but can take a lot of the challenge away on the bosses. Gonna go get Tiche tonight in case I run up on something the Mimic and I can't beat.
