Just a quick tip, if you want to stock up your 999 arrows in your chest, go for it. Every time you rest at a site of grace your arrows will be replenished from your reserves. This applies to any consumable/ammo item in the game.

A heads up guys, this chicken has a chance to spawn with golden eyes which means instead of 13k it'll net you 66k (assuming you have the Gold Scarab Talisman equipped) it's spawned twice for me like that but many hours in-between and it's rare. Every time it has I forgot to eat the Gold Fowl foot rip. So keep an eye out for any glow

FYI every time you rest at a site of grace if you have space in your inventory and spare arrows in your chest they will auto replenish your inventory. So might as well buy the max arrows you can

Very subtle tips for everyone: 1.) I prefer crossbow because you can load the next shot immediately after shooting the chicken, and it stays loaded after grace so you can quickly fire next time you shoot the chicken and just repeat that 2.) If you spam circle immediately after resting at grace, you will get out of the grace quicker because the menu does not pop up Obviously not major changes to this, but it made my farming go a lot quicker because I think those 10-15 seconds saved added up a lot over an hour of farming. EDIT: If having difficulty skipping the grace menu, try timing it so you spam circle (back button) right before your screen goes completely black. The timing on this is tricky but after a certain amount of runs you should be able to get it.

With this farm of a conservative 3 million runes per hour, you would need to spend approximately 564 hours to get to max level. The rune requirement scaling is absolutely insane as you reach higher levels. It costs 1,692,558,415 runes (almost 1.7 billion) to max out your character.

Advance tip: If you have a long bow with mighty shot you can snipe the other chicken in the way back. Since there's arrow drop by distance aim higher . There's a line on the circle when you aim . Use the middle low line and line it with the pillar next to the 2nd chicken the moment it get hit it will run towards you too. Shoot another arrow as he is dropping from the mountain behind the 1 chicken . Is you optimize this and get use to it you can get 2 chickens almost at the same time. You probably can get at least 6 chikuns per min. Not saying is better I'm not sure . But is possible

Talk to Varre at the first site of grace and follow his quest line until he gives you a Pureblood Knight's Medal and use that to get to the area to find that particular location. If you go to LunarGaming channel, he gives you a guide to get the medal

PRO TIP : you don't need to run over so far from the camp. In fact, you can go straight for the cliff from the camp, manually aim for the circle formed by the right side of the tree and shoot before the bird enters with its legs. If done well, it will rush and fall super fast. Just make sure that after each camp reset you leave the camp ASAP, go to the cliff, manually aim and shoot. I managed to make most kills take around 10 seconds. During an hour, without any rune boost I manage to hit 2.5mil easy.

For optimal speed, I aim between the triangle in the tree branches. If you accidentally hit a branch it makes the chicken hold still. It helps if you aim at the branch above. I can usually get 5-6 chickens in one minute.

The imp sealed door near the blacksmith in Roundtable Hold contains a Crossbow that is a sniper, it has longer range than any other ranged weapon. Using this crossbow makes shots easier to land. And, as soon as you hit the bird in the back you can start running back, you'll get the runes, it's a bit quicker.

If you go to the cliff right by the grace, about 3 steps away, you can manually aim at a circle in the tree and it'll almost always hit his leg, and 9/10 times he'll run off the cliff. Once you get it down it shaves off a couple seconds from running to/from this further cliff because it's almost like aim botting your bow.

in this same place, if you are in NG+, use the sword gained from killing the elden beast, and use the weapon art on the albenaurics chilling there. With gold scarab talisman, this will give you around 70000 runes. reload and repeat. You will have millions of runes in hours. You do need to upgrade the sword, and have high faith stat though.

The spot between the 2 tadpole demihumans near the site of lost grace is a good place to snipe the target since sometimes, the target would stop at the cliff edge when getting shot from other locations. Edit: There are 2 crafting materials - Dewkissed herba near the site of lost grace which confirmed will respawn like enemies, for extra runes. Edit: using mouse to aim and shoot is faster and smoother can save a bit of time if you are playing on a PC.

I have worked out when killing the ugly bird by tricking it off the cliff what amount of runes you get. 1) without the gold scarab amulet and gold pickled fowl foot you get 11038 runes 2) If you use the scarab amulet on own you get 13245 runes 3)if you use just the gold fowl foot you get 14349 runes 4)Then if you use both the gold scarab and gold fowl foot you get 17219 runes

If you have rock sling, you can use that instead. It will still aggro the chicken and doesn't use up arrows, meaning infinite runes! Even if you time it a little off, the noise makes the chicken run then you can rock sling again to aggro it to you and profit

For everyone that keeps asking in the comments, YES as of 7/20/2022 this STILL WORKS!!!! The "Chicken" has not been patched.. yet. If you shoot from the far left of the cliff edge, next to the Site of Grace, you can easily target and shoot it. I do NOT recommend using a short bow, a long bow or crossbow work best. Using the long bow, you can shoot it with Mighty Shot (hold L2 and press R1 when targeted correctly) and it will hit it causing it to run off the cliff edge. If you happen to lose target while drawing the bow, just push R3 to target before it releases the arrow. If you are trying to grind quickly, be sure that it dies BEFORE you rest at the Site of Grace. I was averaging about 2.7 million runes while leisurely farming and 3.4 million runes when I was grinding fast (with the Golden Scarab and Gold-Pickled Foul Foot equipped and used). This is still one of the best rune farming locations that can be found even fairly early on; as long as you don't die trying to get there.

If you add multiplayer group passwords, this can also help. Every time someone in the group beats a main boss, or finishes the game, it gives an boost to rune acquisition. fcb (fighting Cowboy's group) and SEEKERS (Vaati Vidya) are two good options to add.. You've got that buff popping every minute or so.

The most optimal way to do this is no armor. Bow the chicken and Sword of night and flame heavy special the 2 mobs right next to where you shoot the chicken and run back to the bone fire and immediately rest. If done correctly you get the chicken runes as you rest making it the most optimal farm imo

Super secret pro tip: The bird falls 99% of the time if you quickly look down towards the bottom of the cliff. If you do this, it doesn't matter from where you shoot your arrow. Another good spot to shoot it is directly forward from the grace. There's a pointed rock. Stand a few feet back on a more elevated piece, and wait for it to walk away from you. I find this to be the best because if you shoot it from the favored spot you mentioned, it has this nasty habit of stopping and staring at you, and strafing to avoid getting shot.

I've been doing this the last couple days. I don't know if it's just me, but sometimes this chicken doesn't run off the edge and just stays on. Or starts to go off and lags back onto the cliff.

He'll run off the cliff every time if you hit him in the leg as he's passing by the circle in the branches Also if you have Starscourge Swords and use the AoE, you can quickly farm the Albinaurics next to you for a total of 50,000 runes every time you reset (including the bird)

FYI there is a closer spot where you can manually aim and hit the chickens foot underneath the tree before it turns around, lets me get this done a lot faster than running farther over to the side but requires a little more attention to hit the shot right, without the chicken turning around it also runs straight off the edge faster instead of having the slow u-turn when hit.

I think if you use the final boss weapon art on the dudes sitting there to the right you get way more way quicker. I think it was about 10 mil an hour. Of course this is post game… but if you have beaten it, it’ll be a good place to grind up before going to ng+

Tip: If you got the Sacred Relic Sword and run a faith build you can use its skill on those little ones and in the time it travels shoot the bird. You get around 40k each rotation.

They havent before, so i dont see why here, in dark souls 3 there used to be this farm wich i think gave 150k a run, wich u used “rapport” a pyromancy wich makes enemy a ally for a set duration, and make the three fight eachother Dark souls 1 had a souls dupe, just dupe any souls to 999 instantly. I havent really exploited dark souls 2 though. While Bloodborne had a dungeon called “CUMMMFPK” Wich gave 83k “echoes” by you just staring at a wall

You can buy more then 99 arrows, the rest go in your chest, and will automatically top you up when you rest at the site of grace while farming.

You do need to wait for it to fall off. Otherwise there's a possibly chance you wont get the runes. Also, just shoot him right next to the grace rather than running all the way over there. It's faster and much more efficient. I think I get it around 8 times per minute this way.

Real quick tip: You don't need to run all the way over to that rock. You can hit the bird from the rock closest to the site of grace. It saves you lots of time in the long run.

If you have finished the game, using the Sacred Sword skill on all the enemies at the start of Mogwyn Palace seems a better way for me. Three skill attacks = 35.000 runes approx

I should have to point this out, this chicken sometimes dont rush on you, specially when its eye are glowing, for whatever reason. Best and optimized rune farming method that I had did was using the end game god sword(forgot the name). You can farm the little guys for like 44K runes per 5secs.

@@Intuitive_One hello, I think there are 3 optimized farming methods currently. 1st is using the star scourge GS and not killing the chicken. With the right setup, and somehow luck because the guards tend to become wheels, you can farm the little guys for 44K runes every 30 seconds. The other one is for spells, I think the spell is heavy ballista? Not sure about this, but they just cast it and get the 44K runes in just 10 seconds? The other one iis using the sacred relic sword, the end game item recieved by finishing the game, this gives me the 44K runes for about 15 seconds

I find it better to aim and shoot in between the tree branches right next to the grace spot. There is s hole between the branches where If you line up with that hole and shoot quick enough, you can hit his leg as he walks forward and it immediately runs off the cliff with no delay. You don’t have to run at all and you basically turn around on the grace spot, walk a few steps and rinse and repeat

Bringing up the map and clicking the site of grace will save you 3 seconds as opposed to running back to it yourself. If you're doing this for hours, that adds up to quite a few extra kills... and runes.

Word to the wise for anyone trying the abandoned cave to get the Gold Scarab talisman, use quick step ash of war to quickly move through the scarlet rot. Also use it to dodge the Cleanrot Knight that throws endless gold things at you. I beat it solo with Wolf Ashes+3 and Hookclaws+7 with quickstep on them. Edit: The bloodhound step is better than quickstep but not required. I visit the cave at least once each play session to help other players through and if you can get the Hoarfrost Stomp ash of war it makes this boss battle a joke. I managed to clear them both in about 45 seconds with another player using the Hoarfrost stomp.

I watched one of his other videos and in order to get to this location there’s a certain boss that needs to be defeated… i thought I could just get there now. I’m actually having more fun playing this than I thought I would thanks to a guide I’m following. I’m getting stronger and bosses aren’t as bad as I thought they would be. Last night I killed the dragon near the start of the game, along with other cave bosses, Including what’s considered the first boss. The guy with the glowing hammer. Don’t know his name. This game is fun though

You can even save some time by not waiting for the numbers to show up to reset, there should be a sound as you sit by the fire. Be careful not to rush it but as long as the chicken went over the side and is falling you should be fine.

at the edge of the cliff right by the grace is a small indentation. walk on it and shoot the bow through the c pattern of the tree and the chicken will start running before it even turns around (you have to hit it ofc) if someone doesnt understand, i could make a clip and send it to you. imo, its much faster because the chicken doesnt even turn around and you only have to walk a bit.

Works perfectly, I just got 1 million and 18 levels ^^ I also tried going down in the blood swamp and fight one of these beasts face to face. And I don't know if it's possible to kill them, I always get stomped/beaked to death in a matter of seconds, I'd be really impressed to see someone kill even one. These chickens are tougher than bosses. No wonder it gives so muche runes.

I prefer using the crossbow you get in the basement of the roundtable hold, behind the first smoke door. It has better range and speed and makes the farming smoother. This farm still works as of Patch 1.04

There is a method where you can shape off a few more seconds. Go to the rock directly north of the site of grace. Don't stand directly on the edge but more like on the middle of the rock itself. Use manual aiming and aim between the two lowest thick brances on the right side of the tree where the bird is walking. Wait until you see just its legs an shoot. That way you hit it just before it turns and it runs straight over the edge. You can turn around and go to the site of grace after you shot. Turning the camera towards the bird and you'll see that it indeed did fall down. Because I was standing in the wrong spot (as described above) I was unable to hit or lock properly, so I tried figuring out what the problem was.. and ended up with this. It does only save a few seconds per try but I manage 5 kills per minute easily.

I actually originally thought this was the method, then found people going to the other cliff and im like "Why are people not doing it from here its faster" especially since you're at the grace in 2 steps. And once you get the aim down its essentially aim botting. Maybe 1 chicken per couple minutes doesn't run off, or sometimes I get a bad spawn

If you have the sacred relic sword you can use the art of war and hit every enemy on the hill behind you for about 50k every 15ish seconds. I’m in new game +. Using the extra souls from that with the gold scarab I get roughly 70-90k every 15-20 seconds.

Should also mention that the 'Sacred Relic Sword' is an endgame item being as you need to defeat the final boss in order to obtain the soul to exchange for said weapon.

It’s easier to kill the groups or adds at that location, I was getting 400k+ every 5 mins or so using the AoE attack from Starscourge Greatsword, a lot of good AoE spells that can be used too. The bird way is a bit inconsistent because he doesn’t always fall and you may miss

The bird is only inconsistent if you stay in his line of view, which means you must back up before the arrow lands or roll backwards upon hitting him and he will run off every single time.

You should use your pouch. :V Also thats a pretty nifty tip~ I do want to note that runes obtained are very likely based on your level. A good example of this in action would be the exiled knights in Caelids dragon communion church. With my level 15 mage, i could get around 600 runes. But with my level 40 knight, i was getting 3k. My mage is around level 80 now, and she gets about 3-4k from them now. At first i thought it may be tied to arcane, but i never leveled that for my mage since fighting the knights the first time, so it really seems tied to level more than anything. Just keep that in mind if you get significantly less runes than advertised here. Level up a few times and you might start seeing a major difference.

That happens regardless of time of day. some mobs will randomly spawn with glowing golden eyes, those tend to drop 4x the amount of runes as their counterparts

you can just roll to the ledge from the sight of grace instantly, aim in between the largest gap in the branches, and fire. Wait until the bird runs off the ledge and lifts his wings to turn around and go to the grace again. It's about twice as fast if you do it this way
