The coyote time level was interesting. A lot of games have that mechanic where you can jump after you've already left a platform for a frame or two, but a level that forces that is interesting.

The mechanics behind the noteblock-to-spring-to-midair-jump is often referred to as Coyote Time. The name comes from Wile E. Coyote (Wile may be the incorrect spelling; I have not watched Looney Toons in a while.), the antagonist of the Road Runner shorts. Many games make use of Coyote Time to compensate for the delay between the player seeing what needs to be done, inputing the button to jump (and\or turn in some cases), in addition to the delay of the input being sent to and interpeted by the processor. As best as I can explain it anyway. This compensation allows games to feel like they have much tighter controls, even though games are actually giving a lot more slack - thus being loose - in order to not punish the player for the limitations of technology. In scenarios like the one this Uno Mas is highlighting, it's not distance traveled being the deciding factor, but the amount of time you've spent not being grounded. As a result, in this scenario, the note block and spring setups propel you out with such speed that you can be noticably beyond where you'd expect distance-based Coyote Time to stop functioning.

It’s trickier to make it as bad (at least in the same way) simply because, unlike the POW blocks in SMB style, Koopa Cars will continue moving in the same direction regardless of where it bounces off of you, so you can’t make it so that they go in a zigzag pattern. Also, jumping into the Koopa Car doesn’t necessarily end it.

On Magic 4, it must be stuff happening offscreen that causes the difference. (Like something causes you to get the key the second time, when you can clear it). It might be a difference of starting from the beginning, and starting at the checkpoint, and the POW block perhaps being a single pixel lower allowing access to the flagpole.

Yeah, I'm not sure what that was about. Once you know you hit a checkpoint there, there's no more "magic" required - the checkpoint just dumps you into the goal.

i really wanna see something crazy like a pipe wrong warp where mario just flies across the screen in this game and i wanna know how to do it. i was always fascinated by wrong warps. 12:25 this is called coyote time. it exists solely to make platformers feel more fluidic, i.e when you run off an edge and you press jump on the first frame off the edge your jump still counts. its one of the reasons why mario is such a great platforming game - it is forgiving and very intentional

I'm Spanish) is an expression we usually use when we don't have enough of something and want another try of it. So yes, Uno mas means one more level in this lore. Love you DGR!

The late hop, I think, works because you achieved P-speed before the jump, which means that your horizontal speed is maxed out. Additionally, hopping later means that you are starting from the rightmost pixel that you can hop from, so this maximizes the horizontal distance you can traverse compared to the vertical distance. Also, I recall a previous Uno Más level where there were actually three jump heights from Note Blocks.

5:49 - I know how it works. Remember when Dave said "Behind the spring is a checkpoint?" Well, at the first checkpoint, the ending wasn't there. The ending was there on the second checkpoint, you just couldn't hear the sound of Dave collecting it because of sound effects. That way, it gives the illusion of being the same room as the first checkpoint because it's using the same setup. So, Joker could create 2 rooms with the exact same setup, while hiding the fact that there are 2 checkpoints and 2 identical rooms at the same time.

The shell glitch can work without the glitch effect, actually. You just need to get a power-up or take damage same frame you enter the shell. This works with goomba shoes too (that's how I found out about this)

About off-screen POW Blocks, unless an object is on what's called "global ground", anything 2 blocks off screen is not loaded-in till you move towards it. Those offscreen POW Blocks are just close enough off-screen to not despawn when not on screen
