As a Kings fan, I was very excited when they snagged Kaliyev in the 2nd round (2019) but have been quite upset at how they’ve handled his development. I think they bungled this one big time, and it leaves them with very few successes (Byfield, Anderson, Spence) from a once-vaunted pipeline.

I think Mikey Anderson's key to development success has more with going to UMD for college. It seems if it's a forward whoever comes outta there plays with a good defensive side

I think Kaliyev was all potential and his strength was his shot which hasn't looked dangerous since the world juniors. Not sure if the Kings bungled his development or if he was never going to be that good of a player. Trevor Lewis wasn't drafted to be bottom 6 guy but he made adjustments to become an everyday nhler. Not sure Kaliyev was willing to do the work to be more than his shot.

Broberg has a slot pencilled in the Oilers' lineup for next season, the question is just who gets paired with him. Ceci's play has been so rough over the past 12 months that I can't see a future where he's an Oiler this fall. I think they will probably start the year running Nurse/Bouchard, Broberg/Ekholm, Kulak/Desharnais (which was the plan last fall, before Ekholm got injured and their season tried to go off the rails).

I’m biased as a CBJ fan, but I think we would be a great place for some of these guys to come to as reclamation projects. We saw what could happen with Alex Nylander when he came here. Would personally love for the Jackets to take a shot at getting Alex Turcotte.

Name one player that have come from CBJ system either drafted or just pretty fresh and have flourish? I can’t name a single one. Ofc most important for young players are the right coaching staff and that they can get icetime they need. When torts was in Columbus they had zero chance. And it has been the same basicly from the start to this day. CBJ is not the right place for young players at least now maybe if they would change the staff. Only thing good is that they could get the icetime because the team sucks but then again theyre high drafted young players should be better and have that playtime now.

As a Stars fan, even with our dire need for RHD, he is not going to fit. He is good offensively, but defensively weak and small for the NHL. He will get 0 PP time with Miro and Harley. Was a horrible trade when it was made and worse now. If it was Kakko or Schneider I would have been alright with it. He is dangled as trade bait with moves needing to be made.

As someone living in Winnipeg, Rasmus Kupari needs to go to a rebuilding team like Anaheim to get an actual NHL chance imo. Winnipeg already has an insane forward prospect pool with Barlow, Chibrikov, Lambert, Lucius, and Torgersson, I don't know if he's ever gonna crack the NHL here

Absolutely agree with this one. I'd love to see them in another team, all of these. Kakko and Filip specially. Remember Forsling? Reject in most teams but used right. WOW. Heinola also a great pick on the list. I don't honest get it why the Jets who have zero use for him traded him ages ago for like 900th round pick. Obvious he is never going to play with the NHL team. Slightest mishap and he's AHL.

The 3 forwards on that list...Welcome to Montréal ! They fit perfectly with what Kent Hugues is looking for in a trade, player close to develop and forgotten projects from their team who would thrive in St-Louis system. Kakko is probably the most likely to move to Montréal on that list both because he was drafted by Gorton and is a lot like Dach...a forgotten project !

I think that Erik Branstrom from Ottawa needs a new home. He once was valued very high and he can play all over the ice. This year he was playing in the rush much more as well as forward. I’m a Sabres fan, and as much as I’d like to see Peyton Krebs stay on the Sabres and develop, I just can’t see him getting enough ice time next season, especially with all of the great forward prospects that the team has, so it might be best for him get more ice time on a team early in its rebuild.

I may be alone among my fandom’s members, but I don’t want the Rangers to give up on Kakko. He reminds me a lot of two other young players we ultimately gave up- J.T. Miller and Pavel Buchnevich. Both Miller and Buchnevich had a hard time establishing themselves offensively in terms of point production, but both were good (much like Kakko is) at controlling the puck and driving the play in the offensive zone. Aside from the Trocheck-Panarin-Lafreniere line, the line that looked consistently acceptable against both Carolina and especially against Florida was the Wennberg-Kakko-Cullye line, which at least managed to play in the offensive zone on a good percentage of their shifts and never looked outmatched in the defensive zone. My attitude toward Kakko mostly comes down to his still being young, his doing lots of other things besides scoring quite well, and that ultimately, even if he never gets better than he is right now, he is a useful 3rd line forward who may ultimately develop into more of a defensive weapon than an offensive one. He should be relatively cheap to resign (he’s an RFA but coming off this down year I suspect he will not be hard to resign) and have him compete for the spot alongside Kreider and Zibenijad, but I won’t be upset if his ultimate usage next year is on the 3rd line. I’m also concerned that trading him now would be trading him at the low point of his value. Even if the Rangers decide to move on, it would make sense for them to bring him back to start the year and show that he can be a solid player if given more opportunity. Laviolette told Kakko that he thinks one of his failures as a coach this year was not unlocking Kakko’s potential, so I think it is fair to say that some of the Rangers decision-makers still have high hopes for Kakko.

Watching the video I had a similar thought, although I have no idea if a 1-1 trade for them actually makes sense in terms of their relative value right now. Berggren sounds like he might be, stylistically, a better fit for the Rangers line with Kreider and Zibenijad, as Kakko is not really a playmaker and that’s the sort of forward the line needs to compliment the shoot-happy tendencies that both Zibenijad and Kreider have. Not entirely sure how Kakko fits in Detroit, but I’d imagine they could give him more opportunity than he will likely get in NY, especially in terms of power play time.
