As a Wild fan I like the mock trade of Brodin and Rossi for Marner. Kaprisov and Marner are the same age so this would be capitalizing on the prime of Kaprisov. The Wild really need a 1C but it's so rare for those players to go on the trade block.

Best trade the Leafs can hope for is to cap dump him after July first. They aren't going to be able to get a trade without retention. And what comes to Florida, they probably would never even entertain it, because he simply isn't the type of player they want.

With the whole relocation deal going on, I think Utah could be an ideal trade partner to make a blockbuster deal, which would be a Mitch Marner/Clayton Keller trade

Why would any team trade for Marner with only 1 year left om his contract. In reality, the Leafs have no bargaining power because of the core four salaries and trade clauses. The Leafs need to pull an Ujiri. Trade Mathews for a top tier defenseman and experienced goalie. Nylander is a first line player. Marner & Tavares will be playing for new contracts, so they will have a little extra motivation to do better. Nies, Domi & Bertuzzi will only get better with more ice time. The Raptors did trade their best scorer for a top defensive player and shooting guard. It worked out for them. Yes, they did turn out being rent a players, but the city got a championship. Full disclosure, I'm not a Leaf fan, never have been, so I have no skin in the game. Just a thought from someone not invested in the team.

Putting Samsonov as Great, to me shows that you did put A LOT of bias on just 1 season not 3 seasons as a whole Since sure he did have that 1 career year… but never proved to be a starting caliber goalie before that And it showed this season where he’d be put in the BAD Tier

One of the most common things that I am seeing in Penguins Fan Social Media groups is that Dubas is already on the line with Treliving, and suggesting that the Pens trade Tristan Jarry (4 years left @ $5+M per) and Ryan Graves (5 years left @ $4.5M per) for Marner.

The return Ottawa got for DeBrincat last year is closer to what the Leafs are going to get for Marner than anything offered in this video. Like, PLD for Marner, one for one. Full stop. The team is not getting a former 2nd overall coming off of his ELC as a sweetener. You maybe able to muddy the trade by offering later round draft picks and middling prospects but the Leafs are not winning any Marner trade.

PLD is like trading a big ego for a bigger ego.

Toronto needs defense starting with a 1st Pair type who can be added to the PP to compliment the offence, Rasmus Dhalin from the Sabres, a straight up 1 for 1 deal, no strings.

Which NHL GM do you think wants an $11 million cap hit for a guy who is not a playoff style player. Even if you get him for free it would be a suspect move. You would need to find a team that is looking for filler until they have developed their own talent and have the cap space to waste short term. I like Marner and think he is very talented but if you are looking for Cup you need players with a little more grit.

But if we had to get Marner. This would be the case. The Habs get that superstar to maybe push for the playoffs. Leafs gets a solid 4th line 1PK center, Defensive defenseman, Very good young two way defenseman, Newhook to try and recover some of that offense they lost and a 1st as a trade asset. They can easily also move all of these assets. Best case scenario for the Leafs imo. They get great defense solid offense and great trade assets.

Barry Trotz would never go for mitch marner, character, his cap hit (over payed), that's an over pay for a player the leafs don't want anymore. Love your content but awful trade.

I would love to see him go to the Kings because they really need a strong right handed shot right now. But ain't no way they are sending Byfield anywhere unless it's some ridiculous return, and I don't think they would even entertain a 1 for 1 swap for Marner. They basically need to get rid of PLD in the process (either to another team or to Toronto) to even consider a player like Marner. I think without Dubois they have something like 30m in cap space next year, but still need to sign Byfield, Roy, and Arvidsson. Dubois to some bottom tier team for literally nothing would be fine by me.

I think you’re seriously undervaluing Jonas Brodin. Unless he drastically drops off a cliff this year that marner trade is quite even. McCabe is obviously a good defenseman so maybe if it was a 2nd instead of a 3rd I think it’s quite justified
