I kinda disagree with your take on Ayton being the same player since he got drafted. He was a bad defender when he came to the league but as years progressed his defensive game also progressed and is one of the reasons why the Suns is a really good defensive team right now.
@SK-mw8vd
@SK-mw8vd Жыл бұрын
Agreed. Ayton is a cog in that perimeter offense in PHO. I personally think that he shrinks on offense because they don't get him touches early. When you set 90 screens for Booker, Paul, and Bridges all game, it can be tough to get into an offensive flow. He does need to be more aggressive.

RJ doesn't have a variety of offensive moves, isn't overly athletic, and lacks shooting touch. He can get to the basket very well, but decides to chuck up a contested shot instead of dishing out or turning around and keeping the dribble. I thought he would have improved by now. I don't ever think he'll be a star but he can be a good role player. It's just frustrating that the Knicks paid him all that money for him to regress.

I usually don't comment on these because I never have anything bad to say about your takes. Reading what you wrote about Ayton is just flat wrong though. He's made huge improvements to his efficiency, and most of all his defense. He's been told to play within the coaches system and he does so excellently. Also just a small tid bit about the contract situation. They had initially offered him a 4 year max contract so they could have some flexibility when Chris Paul inevitably leaves the team. He wanted a 5 year so he declined and as you know he signed that offer with the Pacers. The Suns had that offer matched within minutes because they had zero intention of letting him go. Just wanted to point all that out! Keep up the awesome content though because you're my favorite NBA channel out there!

To your point about RJ’s offense being predictable, Opposing teams know they can sag off of him on the perimeter because he’s not a strong shooter. Most times its not the player its likely the team and sometimes its what's popular in the NBA when a player gets drafted. You have the case of Tyreke Evans who was made to be a SG when he was suited to play PG and thus didnt develop You have a rare case like Markelle Fultz or Dante Exum where injuries just stunt their growth too much or A case like Jahlil Okafor where his game was like Shaq's in the era of "floor spacing" and shooting 3s Most times players dont just stop knowing how to work hard. Its way more complicated

My thing about RJ is he is similar to Wiggins and Barnes. Ranked #1 in his class, is a good starter, but until he is in the right system his full potential will never be on display.

RJ is so overated and if you wonder why he people say that even tho he averages 20 points every season it’s because thibadeou plays him 40 minutes every game for no reason so by default he will keep shooting

The spacing isn't an excuse for Barrett, he just was overhyped, PERIOD. Look at how well Randle and Jalen are doing, Jalen Looking every bit worth of his contract, heck, right now, it's looking like we got him for steal!!

Prime Melo was not the worst defender in the league, not even close. Throwing shade with your Hachi comp. Also, if you can't show you belong in 22+ mins a game, then you don't belong.

Ayton can be an all time center if he's the focal point of the Suns or any other team. That dude can easily average 24 & 13.

You cant really say any of them "hit a wall" as long as theyre still young and in the league, at times it doesnt even matter if theyre still young either

It's because these teams draft these particular guys because they were still available pretty sure most of these players aren't even on these teams draft board if these guys get on other teams they might flourish

They are showing that the NBA IS THE BEST LEAGUE IN THE WORLD. No one is gonna let you score 23ppg just because you was a McDonald’s all American 1st team all American in college that you was ranked top 20 since you was 13 years old or how many views your high school mixtape has. It’s the best playing the best every day. Becoming a above average player is incredibly hard. People you was ranked over pass you up sometimes Ja morant is a 0.0001 exception to go from basically number 100 in high school to the number 2 pick in 2 years and a superstar now he blazed past EVERYONE above him in his class by far save for Zion he just got injuries but he got same talent level. Rj Barrett is a solid player 15-20 ppg kinda guy at least on the team he on now. Julius randle is the leader on the team for now. Rj Barrett was the consensus number 1 pick going into high school Zion took that from him 2 weeks into the season he’s on another level talent wise. And ja morant took it 3 weeks into the season he’s on another level too. Rj is solid but he peaked a lil earlier than those guys and they are so much more talented. But Rj is still a solid player though 15-20 ppg a great addition to any team and plays tough defense.

Barrett is stagnant. Every knicks game I’ve watched he forces shots as a very inconsistent jump shooter. But most of all he only goes left! Ball hogging lefty

a fair few of these players just need to be traded to teams who are better at developing players and can give some of these guys more minutes if thats what they need. I truly believe that if RJ got traded to a different team like the grizzlies, pacers, golden state, celtics, dallas or the bucks and a few other teams we could see his full potential come out cause i just dont think the knicks is the right team for him.

Look at Lauri Markkenen on the Jazz. He suddenly turned into a young Dirk. If knicks had traded RJ there, maybe he'd be at 25 ppg. And Mitchell will be good anywhere, he'd be leading NY right now.
