I love this episode and the guy who was the Soup Nazi was fantastic. But nothing beats the cashier girl who takes George's soup back and gives him his money, all in less than 1 second. The precision of her movements, her inexpressiveness ... the curl. It's perfect.

I wonder how many takes they did to get that perfect moment. You are soo correct. She abruptly grabs the soup bag and quietly gives him back his bill. The sound of the exchange with the look was genius.

@@alanw2036 Disagree most strenuously. The opening sequence where George is kicked out is the only funny part of this whole episode. The rest of it-Jerry & his "schmoopy" girlfriend, the two gay guys who threaten Kramer and steal the armoire, isn't even a little bit funny.

Joe Hansell wow, really? Not even Kramer with the armoire and gay guys? Loved that episode. . .as well as Elaine’s revenge at the end. Remember. . .Seinfeld always has subplots in each episode, some of which tie into the bigger theme.

Like lots of New Yorkers in the 90s,I went to that original soup shop many times and I can tell you this episode is very accurate. It was not an inside restaurant, just an opening on 55 st that you walked up to after waiting on a very long line. The soup man himself was often even more crabby than the actor played him but boy that soup he made was just incredible. Every day the menu was different and yes, sometimes you got bread, fruit and even chocolate with the soup and sometimes you didn’t get anything at all. But you better not complain -or he would throw you off for making the same silly errors that you saw people make on the show. Despite all of that,I think if you ever talked to his old customers who stood in those long lines day after day they will tell you without a doubt that it was the best soup they ever had!!

I was working in a local newsroom at the time. Seinfeld and this episode were so wildly popular, it was driving me crazy. I had crime, politics, medical news, Wall Street, National/International news, Long Island and New Jersey to cover and to get reporters and cameramen to. Meanwhile, everyone is insisting that we have to get an interview with the Soup Nazi. Then there was the time we heard that Mr. Jerry is at a dealership purchasing some fancy car. Drop everything because we have to run to record him and his deal. It was a Beatles-like spectacle. Basically, our serious newsroom turned into a Seinfeld episode.

There is a blooper in this episode, when Elaine returns from the soup nazi, and her armoire is gone, right as she enters the screen, immediately to your right the Armoire is off to the side and is caught in the frame, they must have just pushed it off to the side to film the next scene, and he cameras caught the edge of it.

I bet the real soup Nazi's restaurant would've been a total hit after that episode if he simply owned the part. Maybe even set up a stand with a bunch of joke rules for the customers as they order the food. Maybe his little restaurant would've become a big tourist attraction for New York for years to come. Just goes to show how opportunities can be missed if we take ourselves too seriously.

I took my ex wife to the soup nazi on 54th near Broadway in 1998, the show was all ready out of him but he hadn't franchised yet so he was still in his raised little shack looking down on you. We ordered with a smirk in our faces and he looked like he wanted to kill us, like just say Soup Nazi once and see what happens. He charged $13 bucks for soup, bread and fruit and it was delicious. He soon sold out, franchised and closed up his little shack but I can always say I went to the original Soup Nazi.

I had a shop like this near me years ago. The lady that owned the business was a dragon lady, super mean, like he soup nazi. I was lucky, she liked me, and would give me service with a smile, everyone else was looked upon with distain.

The cashier girl who takes George's soup back is the funniest character in Seinfeld history and she never says one word

It's funny, George and Newman are so much more articulate in real life. Best ensemble cast ever.

If you watch closely at 2:20 the soup nazi can't stop himself from laughing while he's arguing with george about the bread.

But the final scene after that: Newman and Jerry both run home to fetch a big pot, but run off in opposite directions even though they live in the same building! Oops!

Space is at a premium in midtown, and people who don't order properly mess up the line and cost him money. I used to get a cheap lunch at a hole-in-the-wall at 55th and Sixth when I went to Rhodes Prep at 54th and Fifth. This episode reminded me of that place.

If I was the real Soup Nazi guy I would change the name of the place to "Soup Nazi" and open a lot of restaurants in which only trained people would work and they would be trained by me to act like a guy from the series, to scream practically at everyone. It would be amazing.

And the Anti-Defamation League would crucify you for the name (pun intended). And Antifa would protest as well, even though they're the biggest anti-Semitic group on the planet right now.

@@TheWitchOvAgnesi It was a moniker given to him by an extremely popular episode of one of the greatest shows in history, created by two Jewish guys. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the Anti-Defamation League would face serious backlash if they were dumb enough to go against him.
