Jonathan is a really pleasant man. You know he speaks genuinely about his experience, life and the people he met. So when he talks about Micheal Jackson for example, you know you hear a true picture of this person and not a friggin viewpoint from a magazine or someone else with some agenda. Telling from his life is also see others life, by a normal human perspective.

A week ago - if you had asked me who this man was, I wouldn't have had any idea. Today: this man is my absolute idol. What an incredible human being. His passion, his positivity (I have been entirely unable to locate an image or video or story of this man in which he is not smiling the smile that God gave him), his honesty, his willingness and desire to not merely admit his personal faults and/or mistakes but to seek them out (so many people just want to portray themselves as the greatest and most perfect person to ever be blessed with the gift of a worldly existence)... I hope everyone (regardless of race or gender or career or background or beliefs) can aspire to meet this man's discipline and grace. Forget the fact that I've recently realized he is the best drummer to ever smack anything with a stick... This man is just a really, really, genuinely good person - and that's the real battle. Bravo, Mr. Sugarfoot. I know, in my heart, that you and Michael have been booked to play a lot more live shows - on top of a mountain that I'm training to, hopefully, one day climb myself. And, on the day I get to stand in that crowd, I want you to know that it will be the honor of my life and my tremendous privilege to listen to the fruit which I believe will now grow eternally, season after season, from a tree that only exists because your father planted a tiny, magical, musical seed, many decades ago, in good soil and then you decided you'd commit yourself to the task of determining what that seed might someday become if it was tendered to everyday with the same love that it was given the day your father planted it

@@TheSessionsPanel 3 days ago, if you had asked me what The Sessions Panel was, I wouldn't have had any idea (refer to the opening sentence of my original post to see the parallel). Until I became infatuated with Mr. Sugarfoot and his optimism, his drive, his love... all of it, there was very little chance that I would have discovered this gem of a KZbin channel. I only ended up here because I was trying to learn every morsel of knowledge I could learn from Jonathan. And the most incredible and insightful, publicly-available interaction with him (that I've been able to find) is right here. I expressed much praise for the interview-ee in my initial post. And, of your own volition, you took the time to read and thank me for my words in a humble & genuine fashion. Had my response garnered 100s or 1000s of views or comments, I'd write your response off as obvious PR/self-promotion. But that isn't what happened. You took the time to read a comment that would have benefited had I submitted with a table-of-contents (I'm making fun of myself for talking too much... In case anyone doesn't understand my attempt at funny 🤔😜😂). Now, that I've given praise to the interviewee: please, allow me to praise the interviewer... Terrific interview! Truly. Good questions. Clearly thought out. You didn't push for any response that you either desired/or anticipated. You asked questions that were specific, yet open-ended. You allowed for full responses. You, as far as I can tell, published the interview in it's entirety with no apparent disposition towards generating what we have now had to coin a term for ('click-bait'). It genuinely seemed as though the pursuit of this interview was knowledge & truth. And we, unfortunately, live in a world in which far too many interviews seem pre-planned with the obiective of creating controversy, headlines, views, and promotion of the question-asker instead of the question-askee. Bravo, Sessions Panel! I have just subscribed to this channel... but, if the first 5 videos are any indication, I shall be enjoying your content for many, many years. Keep it going! May God smile brightly upon you and share your spirit with all those that seek good spirit.

His learning strategy I get...did well on his own. It was in his soul at birth...just took time to develop his unique style. I don't wanna stop playing drums...it does make me really happy and the harder it is, I'm in it...he's spot on so well here. I study this part, the philosophy of being a competent and in demand professional. Jackson's got shocked...he played the "impossible" and it changed a lot of music from that point on. I've met the some of the fam in LA, everyone except Michael, who called our production offices often. My boss was a family friend, from Nigeria...they came to the office one day and even Latoya, Janet dropped by..felt safe, while I managed the business for staff. Very likeable people, those I met. Jackie asked me what was my major in college...pre med, biology...how did I get into drumming? Church...we all grow up hearing our ancestral roots in church, music is our culture...so cool, playing drums. I play jazz rolls like our Southern folk...great interview!!! Riveted while listening...going to play after it's over...just because. He describes the feeling so well...drums choose you. Not the other way around, if you get paid to play. Show up, be totally prepared, ready and disciplined when working. Focus...drumming gives you focus, no matter the player...commit and learn rudiments, then find your voice. I'm that same, who I am now...just crossed the line and playing freely and tight pocket. Must be precise...all drummers. There are folks who just don't practice...we've all heard them and winced when they did something unrehearsed and it throws everyone's time off...crap happens. Pro's don't blink, keeping time...
