Flowers in the Attic was such a creepy family horror.

Flowers in the Attic was HUGE when I was a preteen and everyone my age read it, so I did too. Required reading to "fit in." So it's strange to think there are people out there (obviously very much younger than I am) who haven't read it. I'm going to have to try Rainbirds and Night's Edge. Love your reviews and suggestions!

I've really liked the 2 Joe R Lansdale books I've read so I'm definitely putting Moon Lake on my list. Also Raindrops sounds good. My favorite dark fiction blacklist books I've read this year are Supernatural Enhancements by Edgar Cantero and The Tooth Fairy by Graham Joyce. Great video as always

I love your top ten lists. So many great ones in this. Night's Edge sounds a little like A Dowry Of Blood which i also enjoyed.🎃

The Lifetime movie version of Flowers in the Attic truly brings it to life and makes it even more creepy and skin crawling .

Excited about the upcoming videos 🎃 Bloom is a book I am still raving about, I just loved how it draws you in with the cottagecore vibe and then... 🙀🙀

I am so glad I already added "Rainbirds" to my TBR atfter you mentioned it in an earlier video. It seems I can't go wrong with that one! One of the creepiest and darkest books I read this year so far was a thriller novel that leaned heavily into the horror genre, "Games for Dead Girls" by Jen Williams. I read it in February, I think, and it still haunts me!😯 Thanks for all the recommendations!

Great video! I'm most interested in reading Moon Lake as I have been wanting to try more Lansdale. As for dark fiction backlist books I've read so far this year, my favorites are Maggie's Grave, All the Sinner's Bleed, In the Woods, and a reread of Lovecraft Country. 🎃

I've read a few Atwood short stories, but no novels yet. I recently got a copy of Cat's Eye, so maybe I should start there! Also, the premise of The Secret History reminds me of HBO's The White Lotus.

Just realized I just received that book behind you: The delicate dependencies. About to start it and wondering what u thought about it?

I did not read Flowers in the Attic but an old girlfriend did and described the basics to me. Yikes!

I recently re-read The Delicate Dependency after a decade and it was just as good as the first time... even though I knew the "big reveal" I would still question myself because there are very few hints given... I was like wait no maybe I don't injure what's going on 😆 well done. If anyone here likes historical vampire stories that focus on the knowledge acquired from living for centuries rather than seduction and k!ll!ngs, highly recommend!
