I m a Hindu from Karnataka living in AP, my wife goes regularly to Gurudwara for sewa and she never misses any festivals celebrated in Gurudwara here, sings Kirtans there. At times I accompany her and let me tell you I feel completely at home in a Gurudwara, people here are so welcoming and they greet us warmly. I used to think he was a sant, but after researching about him, listening to his audios and his preference to violence. I donot feel he was a sant or good leader. 1. Bhindrawale was popular in punjab before congress. He took help from congress to remove the corrupted leader from sgpc. 2. About the nirankari clash- (Note it is not nirankari but the nirankari mission. Google rest) The leader of nirankaris gurbachan singh started adding his own made verses to guru granth sahib. This was unacceptable and sikh were very unhappy. Many complaints from filed from sikhs but no response was given by the police. (Because the govt didn't want to upset nirankaris as they had a big vote bank). In 1978 nirankaris held a function in amritsar. Sikhs protested against it(peacefully) But they didn't stop. Police was called. Sikhs requested police to stop the function (verses from gurbachan singh added to guru granth sahib were played loudly on loudspeakers). Police was assured sikhs that it will stop within a few minutes but it didn't. Sikhs grew impatient and started raising slogans. After a few minutes, armed men from nirankari side came out and opened fire on sikhs. Sikhs fired back but they didn't have much weapons as this was supposed to be a peaceful protest. As a result, 3 nirankaris and 13 sikhs were killed.
