Switched also from the 14 pro to the 15. They definitely did something. Really amazing results with ONLY 30 seconds. I can take 4 minutes with the pixel 7 pro and it doesn’t look better. Crazy

Pixel has its place. The sky is almost as good as a pixel I would say. The foreground on Pixels is not nearly as good as this.

Has to be complete darkness or you will only get 10sec

You have to make sure that your phone is 100% steady without any shake. Otherwise it will reduce to 10-15seconds.

I bet you the reason there’s no star trails is because the night mode shooting is already expecting the person to be holding the phone in their hand so it’s programmatically compensating for motion. But instead of handheld shake it’s just canceling out the star movements

Switch to samsung buddy. The iphones are crazy expensive, have very outdated technology and a lot of problems like overheating, breaking glass etc

My S23U and 15PM were basically the same price. I think every phone has issues at some point. Personally havent had the over heating issue. But did see there was already an update to fix it. I also have that bloody horrid issue with ExpertRAW on the S23U. Been that way for a few months now. Still no fix. Ive also never broken a screen on an iPhone. Have broken the screen on a pixel and on S22U. Every phone has positives and negatives.

So if you use ProRaw for star photos does it look better than without even though it only shoots in 12MP when using night mode? You mention it's using pixel binding. I will try that next time, I always kept it off because I didnt think it would do anything good since it defaults to 12MP at night with ProRaw and night mode.

This is great yet it’s not able to capture a simple pink cloud. Pink skies are always too yellow and never match the real colour I can see with my eyes. Have heard many people mentioning this as well. Very disappointing.

These came out pretty spectacular I must admit. Definitely will have to try this in the future. As an add on tip with using the speedlights to freeze the trees, keeping the power to 1/8 or less is the absolute key. The goal is to have the shortest flash duration possible. Cheers. 🍻

Hi, how do you trigger the speedlight from the iPhone? Is this a special speedlight that can take bluetooth signal from the iphone or something? I am going to Alaska to see the norther lights and would like to be able to take photos with my iPhone with Norther Lights in the background and would like to be able to flash to see mine and my wife's faces in the foreground. I have not played games on the phone yet, but when I want to edit pictures, I experience an involuntary heat and battery loss, probably because it is a pro model. I think this problem has been eliminated in the 15 Pro Max, at least it has decreased.

I hate to be the lone contrarian, but I’ve taken a lot of seemingly amazing astrophotos with my iPhone 15 pro (I believe the sensors are identical to the max) and from a distance, the photos are amazing. But when you look closely, the s/n ratio is horrible and the stars look artificial… perhaps even more akin to AI interpreted. Perhaps, this is a setup problem for me? I found your video because I wondering what tools might be available to improve iPhone astrophotos? Perhaps, multiple shots stacked?

You can definitely stack them and get some good pics mate. The stars in the 15pro look pretty much the same as the S23ultra. The best stars out there on a phone are with the Pixels.
