Everyone knows by this point that Colin Meloy's video directorial style is heavily influenced by Wes Anderson. It would appear though that unlike his cohort, James Mercer's is a cool mix of Bong Joon Ho and Taika Waititi. Cool, I can dig it. I also love the remixed tracks, especially Fantasy Island which is my second favorite track on Heartworms behind Rubber Ballz.

5:14... that little critters' reaction to James' trick kills me. Also, these versions of Fantasy Island and Mildenhall are unbelievably good. I like how Fantasy Island has an uplifting beat with James' self-aware lyrics (I don't want show you my feelings, I don't want to bore you to death). Well done, Shins.
