There’s something about this generation of Mercedes that is so frickin special. Totally over engineered in many areas, but feel absolutely bombproof. I had a CLK Avantgarde a few years younger than this. It was pretty much faultless. A great purchase, Tim!!

As an ex-owner of an 2012 E500 4Matic with 408hp I can definitely recommend them. Mine was spec'ed crazy also. Now I'm rockin' an S500 4Matic with 455PS and maximum spec (there were no options unchecked). Some of us just don't want the AMG variant because comfort and quietness and > 400hp can be better than the harsh ride and loud exhaust of an AMG..

For example, the new C43, the upcoming GLC43 or even their 63 variants, can't they behave like normal Mercs with their adaptive suspensions and 4cyl engines? Or are they still giving you a headache after an hour of drive. Thanks!

I saw your cars at GoodWood Tim. Apart from being dirty thanks to all that dust, an Aventador there looked like it hadn't been washed for years! They looked very good, you or your other half have great taste in colour. That wing on your AMG GT Black is just ridiculous though! Mind you the splitter plates on your Aston are equally silly I can see why you take them off to drive it! Your Zenvo looked awesome too. Had a W211 E500 and loved it - replaced with W212 E500, an even better car, mainly for the bigger V8 and way more oomph. Nice car to waft along in, but more than capable of getting up and going when needed. Oh, and mine had nappa leather and a pano roof with built in solar panels that would run the cooling when parked on hot days - so don't go on and on about the spec on this example! lol

I’ve got the ClK500 with this engine too. Sounds amazing with a muffler delete. I’ve got coilovers and a tune also, and this really brings the car alive. Excellent purchase and so cool!

Got the exact engine in a 2002 SL500, it's got the secondary cats and the resonators removed because they broke so it sounds like a muscle car, I've seen you can get a keyless push button start lever in the w211 e class which I think needs to go in, and I've seen you can get a supercharger kit for the 5.0L m113 engine, and the first gen Distronic can be retro fitted without any fancy programming

Get the anti roll bar bushings done at the front. That noise will go away. Believe me. I had one and it was the front anti roll bar bushings that had gone and not the top & bottom ball joints. Great buy guys - fantastic motor.

This is the most car shopping fun, I love road trips to buy cars of this vintage. Last two were to get a mk 4 Golf V6 4mo and a Saab 9000 Aero. So much fun. Made even better when having got it back, it gets a clean bill of health from the inspection. Look forward to seeing this wagon in future vids. :)

The Clio V6 is 100% going to be sliver as a tribute to the original. Brilliant getting an E-Class! If you get trouble with the SBC pump in future (the most likely issue on these!) you can get the pump reset as they cause errors after X number of cycles. All pre-facelift W211s suffer. An X-Pipe will sort out the engine note :) That will do 400k miles easily. Great purchase!

Im more excited about this than some of the other cars you have. If i may suggest a scanner that reads all the modules. You dont need an expensive one, but considering the number of cars you have, it would go a long way in resetting some random warnings these older cars produce. Great purchase Tim!

You don't need to hold the key on full lock to the right to start it. After ignition you just tap it to the right and let go of the key, it will start automatically. You only need to hold the key in cars with manual transmission.
