Thanks for the video, it’s good to see proper hunting rather than just ambushing on a feeder.
@zedfragg413410 ай бұрын
Feeders are used in a lot of places (in the UK) as they help get an ethical shot on the quarry. It may be "boring" to a viewer, but if we're taking shots we shouldn't for views... Should we really be shooting?

These are definitely the type of videos i can relate to and watch for hours. A lot of channels are making plenty of squirrel feeding stations and night time ratting, wich are good to watch every now and again but lets be honest they are all the same and get boring.. you cant beat this sort of shooting in my opinion. More hide, decoys and roving videos are definitely more entertaining 👍

Thank you 👍 part of the problem here (and I think I speak for the majority of those producing content) is that the general licences are becoming increasingly more restrictive, and although anyone with any countryside knowledge will be all too aware, these various bird species are capable of a lot of damage to crops, livestock, gamebirds and songbirds and need to be controlled. The problem lies with the antis who simply see the surface picture of a bird being shot and are the ones with the ability to manipulate the general public rallying further support. With this in mind, we need to remain within these ridiculous and impractical restraints meaning we can no longer just shoot a pest bird species on sight as we did, without explaining the reasons for control, showing damage or proof all other methods have been attempted and at the correct time of year etc etc… This means that rats, squirrels and rabbits are easier targets due to the less restrictive general licenses relating to them, and with rabbits in many areas hit hard with VHD or myxomatosis the end result is a lot of squirrel and rat videos 🥴

Hello My friend, Thank you for your video, but also for showing us things that dont always go as planned. I thought hiding in those bushes would have served you well. However, if we were right all the time, I dont think the challenge would be the same? On my first hunt, hiding in the hedge/foliage/bushes, I left a rabbit out at twenty yards. The rabbit attracted a Buzzard, which brought in four Magpies. I managed to get all four Magpies, which I thought for me, was great, then the Buzzard flew into a local tree. At some point I had to break my cover, collect my Magpies and move on. The Buzzard, remaining Magpies and Crows were sat in a local tree and saw me make my move. The point of my message is, I did exactly the same thing, returning a full twelve months later. What happened was that the Buzzard, Crows and Magpies flew around the rear of where I was hiding. They saw me and flew into a nearby tree, where they stayed. I was stuck, my cover blown. I'll know in future not to do the same thing twice. Allways, at some point, you have to break cover. When I do, I've already removed my facial camoflage so theyll not know what to look for or recognise me.. Eventhough I longed to do this all my life, I havent been doing it for long and its all a learning curve. I also never underestimate the knowledge of an animal, as they're so, so clever. Thank you again. Best wishes, Ian.

First rabbit was hit in the nose or infront of the eye, they go around and around In circles when hit there, hit them low in the head (jaw) they run on also, kill switch on a rabbits head is very small when using sub 12. Anywhere in the head with the 17hmr works 😂

Hello brother, I'm a man from Northeast India and also an Airgun enthusiast. I just subscribed to your channel but this is not the first time I'm watching your videos. I'd like to ask a question. Which one do you prefer Weirauch HW 100 or Brocock Ranger, the one you're using in this video??? If you don't mind

Magpies mate for life so that magpie that was at 8:35 was trying to wake up it’s partner. Their cry when they mourn is also noticeablely different. I don’t think this bird realized what happened to their partner before lights out.

Human's mourn, animals just have a fleeting instinct, which soon passes.

Looked to me like you shot the rabbit in the mouth first time. It happens, and good that you got a follow up shot off to do the trick, but best to not show poor shots like this and give the anti brigade any ammunition.

In which country were the magpies shot? If in England I understood they could only be shot to protect birds of conservation concern or livestock, not to protect a maize clamp.
@reservedone1791 Жыл бұрын
I'm no lover of magpies, but the GL are there for a reason and we don't need to give the antis any help.
@salopsniper22 Жыл бұрын
And what part of the GL specifies where they can be shot? The GL sets the purpose for which you control them. If the silage clamp is the best place to shoot them for the purpose of protecting live stock (which the silage will be for) and birds of conservation whom live in the surrounding fields, buildings and hedgerows then there is nothing wrong with what’s been shown.
@reservedone1791 Жыл бұрын
@@salopsniper22 I can see your point, but the fact is that the magpies were not engaged in attacking livestock or predating on birds of conservation concern. If you apply the logic that 'they would so at some point' then why do the GL specify reasons for shooting or not shooting any pest species? The GL might as well say 'just shoot magpies whenever you see them' which I don't believe is in the spirit of the purpose of the GL.

Good recording, but Christ alive what the hell happened with that first shot on the rabbit? You don't appear to have pulled the shot. You look like you've shattered the jaw looking at the video. Unneeded stress on the animal. That's an unethical shot which to be clear happens unfortunately. But no one seems to have bothered to address this question so I thought I would.
