The Airgun Show - Long range rabbit action

I've always like rabbit for the dinner table as I make a potato, carrot and onion pot pie with a pie crust topping. That's some good shooting Mark. You really know your rifle. Wish I could afford such a nice rifle. I have a $100 break barrel. LOL

Thats great to see you are a all round shooter as i started with air guns at the age of 12 with spring guns but moving up to the modern day with the improved pcp air guns and good pellets i have made some great 70 yards shots with a 177 on rabbits and crows which have to be head shots . Great shooting mark . I enjoy watching your channel nice one jason

Holy cow air rifles are a lot more high end then my red Ryder. Those are really cool and if I lived in a country who hates guns as much as yours I would definitely have one. That’s a really nice piece of kit. I do most of my rabbit hunting or ratting with 22 sub sonic or .17 HMR. Same thing but cheaper

Was over my permission with my HW95K ( .177 / RWS Superdomes ) a few days ago , zeroed at 30 yards and pesting to 45 yards and punching paper targets out to 70 yards shooting around 1 3/4" groups .... not bad for a sub 12ft/lb Springer

They do have fleas but these quickly leave the animal as it cools. I actually sell them to a local butcher 👍

How do I keep my arm more still when holding without resting on something

Good question! In actual fact it’s pretty much impossible to hold dead still! The trick is to except the natural movement and time your shot when freehand shooting. I like to mount the gun above the target and lower the crosshair down, shooting the moment the crosshairs are over the target. I think in most of this video I’m using a shooting tripod which helps with a lot of the movement 👍

Why do you say that, bud? If it’s because of the range, a sub12 is more than capable at 60m and beyond. It’s just the marksmanship that then comes into play at that range. I choose to hunt at 40m and less but I know my kit and I are capable of grouping at 60m. This video just shows how good Mark actually is at gauging windage and holdover. His kit is absolutely up to the task. 👍

Just a quote from the BASC website..... You should never attempt to shoot a rabbit that’s more than 35 metres away, and always with a head shot that will kill cleanly. I would advocate that this is pretty sound advice from BASC but then again I'm not trying to promote the sale or sponsorship of hunting hardware..

@@stevel7865 are you a member? Do you shoot? Do you hunt? Then you must know 5ftlb is the minimum that could humanly take down a rabbit. At 60 yards that power from a 12ftlb air gun is halved from 12-6 so even at 60 yards. It still has enough power to humanely kill a rabbit. Then it’s just down to your shooting abilities which this guy has

@@masongunn1884 So to answer to your questions:- Yes, Yes, Yes for over 50 years and Yes, however do I hunt with Air Rifles......No, I do not, as a teenager I did but not these days, I prefer to use something more applicable at distance offering certainty/respect to the quarry, but Hey what do I know as someone who served his apprenticeship in the 70's with a BSA Airsporter and a Webley Mk 3, maybe I should consult with my son who enjoys the use of his FX M3 or HW100KT non FAC as to what best ftlb is best and out to what distance.
