Let's be honest here....the HABS are still 3 more seasons out from being playoff ready. That means the rebuild will have taken 6 years and that is rough. When I say 3 more season to be playoff ready, I'm not indicating Stanley Cup ready....I just mean making the playoffs. Montreal will not be cup ready until they address huge holes in this line up.

This was a necessary "fit/need" move, a small improvement and good step in the right direction to tweak the roster, but not one to propel them to make a playoff run. So don't expect more. Temper your expectations. It makes a lot of sense. A. A decision had to be made on JB. B. Shortage of RDs. C. Makes Savard movable at the deadline (if they wanted to) as Carrier can pick up the #1 PK minutes and defensive match ups vs top pairings

"Two way game" is overrated. Give me Kane, Kucherov, Malkin, Stamkos, Draisaitl, Ovechkin or Lafleur i.e. pure offensive talents. Something Montreal has lacked for decades. Montreal will only have a chance at Misa or even Schaefer if they win the draft lottery. Misa is a futur 1C but Schaefer is a futur Norris trophy winner, he will likely go first overall since he is one of the youngest prospects of the draft. However, Misa is no Celibrini but better than a Suzuki. Looking at the standings, Montreal could easily start playing better and end up drafting 9th to 10th. It all depends what teams will decide to tank solid at the trade deadline !!!

Like the optimism but Habs won’t make the playoffs. Habs would have to get 63 pts in final 51 games to reach 90 pts. A winning % of .618. That would be 7th best in the East. From a team that is currently 15th in the East. Don’t see the turnaround with the current roster.

"Juice in the playoffs." Tampa Bay had one forward 6'3 and 234 lbs in their cup win over Montreal, Pat Maroon and 6'2 204 lb Barclay Goodrow. None of their other forwards were over 6'1 Point 5'11 180 pounds, Kucherov 6' 165 pounds, Stamkos 6'1 193 pounds. They faired pretty well in the playoffs. It did help to have Hedman, McDonough and Sergachev on the blue line and Vasilevskiy in goal.
