Step By Step Under $100 DIY SIM Chassis - Death Mobile 2.0 The Build

This is The Simpit, I’m Shaun Cole but the real star of today’s show is the Death Mobile 2.0! We came, we planned, and we streamed, and now we have our step by step Death Mobile 2.0 build guide. This project is very near and dear to me, being that it's based off of our original Death Mobile from all those years ago, and this time I'm approaching it with decades worth of experience in order to fine to this custom wooden chassis to perfectly fit my needs. So get yourself a Skill saw and a drill, and follow along as we create the ideal, home built, budget chassis.

I built one with wood in 2016 with wood I had around the garage from other projects. Still using it till this day. Upgraded from a G25 to a CSL DD. Screwed some holes into the wood and good to go. If your thinking of making one with wood, DEFINITELY the way to go IMO. I got my seat for $20 from a car junk yard.

Wish I had the propper tools to get creative myself, since it would get steep to get the actual saws and such, so I am hesitant to how much it would really cost me, but good job Shawn. I really appreciate your personality. Rip Will too, I really feel for him, I liked him a lot and I am gravitating more to the channels who were close to him. Cheers.

In answer to your comment, a small saw and drill will run you around 100 bucks, and is really a great investment just for general purposes beyond messing with sim equipment. I built one way back after watching the first Death Mobile video on ISR. The rig absolutely did not move! None of the wheel forces were wasted and there was zero flex. Comparing it to a GT Omega which I also tried, the wooden rig was totally superior in terms of robustness. Ofcourse with the Omega you could adapt the rig on the fly alot easier to suit, but if I could make a wooden rig with added adaptability somehow that would be grand. Never quite figured that out though apart form redrilling/positioning the parts to suit. Great video Shaun! All the best

This is great, but most of the cost of the rig is the seat in the end (excluding pedals, wheel and shifter of course). Most of the builds I saw they have a seat from somewhere; if you try to source one from a junkyard it cost you twice as much as the wood and parts for the rig sadly :( To the point where if you have to spend 300 dollars or more, at that point you are already in the territory of entry level rigs

Not bad but,,, you didn’t say where you got the seat, what kind is it, and how much... This is the biggest issue I have, the seat... The rig is the easy part for me... thx for sharing!

My seat was purchased off of Craigs list years ago, for 100 bucks at the time. If you're looking at doing something like this for yourself, I'd suggest checking ebay, craigs list, kijiji, those kinds of places, and even better, if you have it available, and auto wrecker is a great place to get a seat. Booth got his Tiburon seat for 50 bucks locally.

i could actually buy a DD if i built this. My current rig is rattling apart and the dest mount is half held on by duct tape. Sure i could splurge and get a DD & aluminum profile rig but i cant justify it... Mental hiccup
