Great video! Easy to understand! Will use this method to make my quilt labels. I did purchase a Clover Hot Hemmer - works great! You can use 1" pieces of Stitch Witchery on top and sides under back of label, press with iron and it will hold label down on quilt back before sewing it down.

Thanks Michelle - I have gotten into the habit of embordering the label details on the back of the binding before I bind the quilt. I put the name(s) of the recipient and a date. Recently I made a quilt for a wedding present so I used the wedding date. I add 'by Jeri...' far enough away to be on a different side. It looks nice and doesn't stand out.

Great tutorial! Two things to add: 1) for fabrics hard to see through use a light box underneath, and 2) I feel it is important to have city and state on the label. With people moving away from area, a quilt made in another state will be easier to trace with that information. I have a quilt that went to Former Soviet Union and I put USA on the label. There's never too much info on the label. If I know it, I always use first, middle, maiden and married names; I come from a long line of weird maiden and married names. Keeps them alive. For the light box, the fabric prep is still the same; the light box just makes it easier to see. You could sew your label on before binding.

I can't read your labels very well. What kind of material are you using for a label? Surely paper isn't going to last. I was thinking about embroidering my name and date of a plain square of material.
