This week, I review The Simpsons newest episodes, Season 35, Episode 6's "Iron Marge".
In it, Marge's heart is broken by a bad birthday present, Bart and Lisa must dig into their mom's past to show that they really know her. Homer becomes a neighbourhood fear-monger fuelled by an pp called Alarmist - arguably a parody for Citizen.

The parrot thing at the end legitimately caught me off guard. It's a pretty standard type twist I'd expect to see in the earlier Simpsons days, but it's a subversive twist we don't see a lot modern Simpsons. Also, childish, fun Lisa is the best Lisa.

I think the best thing about the episode is how Lisa and Bart worked together instead of Bart being the bad one and Lisa nagging and finger waggling the entire episode. And on Bart's part, he does want to share the spy kit with Lisa instead of the obvious Milhouse pairing. That dynamic made all the difference. I've always liked Lisa as a smarter version of Bart rather than the family's misunderstood, underappreciated genius. The one that laughed at the same prank phone calls, pulling the same mischief, and just working as a team rather than boy vs girl or sibling vs sibling. And with this newfound prioritization of character writing over gag writing as well. Homer's subplot was okay, but pretty standard Homer stuff.

I love the idea that homer was absent during the post-credits scene because Agnes’ post about the “Hippo” kept people away from the hole and he’s still stuck in there.

This was quite a wholesome episode. I love it when they deeply humanise characters and show that there is more to them than what we see. Marge is more than just a mum, she has interests and passions of her own. I also love how they remind us that even though Lisa is smart for her age, she is still just a little girl. And just to throw in my dark sense of humour. Part of me was hoping for Homer to get out of the pit and leave Agnes behind. Then we’d see Skinner walk by and ignore her cries for help.

Yes I do like the episodes where Lisa Simpson is a bit more mischievous. And she can be quite devastating when she goes to the dark side.

I'm glad The Simpsons is gradually improving and making consistently decent episodes. All we need is the return of Apu. The cast of characters doesn't feel whole without him and his family. If they can find a way, I'd be more than happy to see him return.

I like that this episode has Bart and Lisa teaming up and they're aren't constantly arguing with each other in the process, just like the classic era.

I adored this episode. Bart and Lisa will always put forth their best efforts to making their mom happy and proud. They'd go far and beyond just to see their mom smile and reaffirming their love for their mom is endless and top priority. Homer always takes the town's needs and wants as his best interest. Homer and Angus quips were funny and hilarious.

If this would´ve ended with an "at least you kids tried" from Marge, I wouldn´t have liked this episode. Marge usually gets the worse part when it comes to being appreciated in the family. The only thing I wanted to see as the resolution for the episode was Marge actually getting the robe at the end. Fortunately, the post-credit scene made that happen.

Honestly this was a fantastic episode! It's definitely one that you want to show your mother and let them know how much you love and appreciate them. My father recently passed away and it really made me feel how much she's had to cover for my old man and be there for the whole family; so I was more than happy to show her this to thank her properly!❤

Just finished watching it! Its a decent episode, Bart and Lisa always are compelling together. I always love how Agnes has such harsh and witty insults 😂 Some parts for me are going to take time to get used to, since i haven't consistently watched many newer modern episodes over the last 5 years (Voice actor changes, Homer's demeanor, etc.)

Homer's sub plot I feel is underrated and if you wanna be pretentious you say it is a critique on media and how fear becomes profitable thus driving media to further fall into the trap or be left behind by someone who would capitalize on it. I didn't even know about the app till now and yet that still fits. This is one of those things that people will point to in the future and say Simpsons predicted it.
