Elliott Smith... a pure poet and a hell of a talented musician
@RustinChole4 жыл бұрын
Easily the most productive musician of my generation. For every album he’d record 24+ studio tracks he’d leave off half. That New Moon release covers his first two albums, but Universal still has at least 20+ mixed and mastered studio tracks they haven’t put out yet, (the new deluxe of XO and Figure 8 has a handful, but not the cream of the crop. Stickman, Taking a Fall, Dancing in the Highway, Abused,.... those are honestly some of his best work in my opinion, the 4 disc “Grand Mal” bootleg his friend put out is still out there, and most of it’s unreleased studio material. Some live stuff he never got around to recording like “you make it seem like nothing.”

The more I see of him, and his solo songs that he performs, it's become so clear that Josh is such a perfect successor for John--as much as I love Froosh. No one was going to be "better" than John, but Josh does such a good job of offering a fresh, new angle to this band, and he's just so good in his own way; I LOVE this.
@AudibleVisibIe6 жыл бұрын
Adebimpe77 fresh new angle? He is, especially here, a carbon copy of John. Which is fine with me because frusciante is the man. I'm not sure his job is to be fresh but more to be John lol
@stevenrivera39776 жыл бұрын
@@AudibleVisibIe I don't see that at all. Josh's playing is different, he sounds different, and he has a different input on records. If they were trying to make him a replacement John, it would fail because he is not John. Slovak was great as well, but like Dave Navarro said, John is just the perfect fit for that band, and honestly, Josh has been growing his own style with each record they release. You can hear he is more confident and just being himself. The only thing that's similar is that he has some pedals that John used, and that's about it. He uses a Marshall Major and a Fender Twin, so his tone sounds different. If they wanted him to be John, wouldn't they make him use all of John's amps, pedals, and force him to sing falsetto for every single back up vocal? People really don't understand that things change and that's life. If Josh copied John, no would complain about the difference in sound that is very apparent.
