Since it got deleted with the original video~ While shows and competitions got canceled and Yuzuru Hanyu could not train, he focused on studying. He studies at the faculty of Human Informatics and Cognitive Sciences at Waseda University and he finished his graduation thesis in the end of July. The thesis is about how motion capture technology can contribute to figure skating, exploring the possibilities of using it to improve skaters' technique of jumping or using it in AI-supported judging. He conducted research himself by using this technology to analyze his own jumps. He hopes in the future this kind of technology will be useful in figure skating. His compassion, love and dedication for the sport is so admirable. Congrats, Yuzu!

I was attempting to describe a vibe in the rink and the lesson in general. Yes, we did do a segment on Tom and it is on this channel. However, each coach does have a different style. When we filmed at other rinks, there was a certain nuance to how coaches would act about and towards their skaters. We saw Meagan and Eric work a throw quad lutz the same week. Bruno Marcotte always had the attitude that "look at these skaters, they are amazing," vs. "look at what I am teaching them because I am amazing." We also interviewed and filmed with Bruno. Rafael is more like Tom, but even he will point out that Nathan is flat out amazing.

So, what did we learn about this week's posting of The Skating Lesson? - Some figure skating coaches dislike Dave Lease and are watching his videos with a fine-toothed comb to make certain all the t's are crossed and i's are dotted where there person is mentioned. Coaches have different training methods. They have brands. They have unique personalities. Are we now at the point we can't even talk about differences with sass and irony ? Whatever. Still think you hit a nerve in Tom Z, Mr. Lease. And who is this mysterious colleague he is talking about in his tweet? You gotta do what is best for yourself and the channel, yet I can't help but feel this whole little confrontation is insane. Fits right in with the state of affairs in the world.

I feel that the daily and often petty jabs at Kostornaia are making Eteri and Company look bad. It has been pointed out that other skaters have left their coaches outside the transfer window without prolonged negative media. I do find it a bit odd she left after they started working on her new programs, but we do not know the whole story and while Kostornaia is my favorite of the 3 A's, (I enjoy watching all of them and don't like the angry fans who feel the need to say rude things about children) I would not approve of this character assassination on anyone.

@@evanperilstein5308 From what I gather, it's not even that she left after the deadline (although Frolova left after the deadline before and so her funding went to her previous club for the season as well). But the federation is saying Alena still hasn't submitted her documents.

Those Group Stage assignments for the ladies is interesting. Looks like Kostornaia is out of shape and not ready, but Shcherbakova and Medvedeva is! The GP Rostelecom Cup will be just two weeks before stage 5. I suspect now that many top skaters will not participate - why should they? It's better to focus on the Russian Cup Group stages to qualify for RusNats. Then hope for Euros and Worlds in the spring.
